Chapter 257 Problem Solver
Sophia nodded doubtfully. "Yes, this is. Who's that?"
"I'm Flynn's grandfather. Do you know why I'm calling?"
Why was Flynn's grandfather calling her?
Recalling Colin's words, she got a bad feeling.
She might be in trouble. With a better understanding of what Flynn's grandfather meant, she said, "Do you want me to stay away from Flynn?" Flynn's family had the power and influence to investigate Sophia's past.
She was a divorced woman. An old conservative man like Flynn's grandfather would definitely not allow his grandson to marry her.
"Yes, you're right. You're also clever. What do you say?" Mr. Fan's eyes fell on the family photo at his desk.
"Alright, Mr. Fan. If you can find a way to stop Flynn from bothering me again, I'll appreciate it." Sophia was happy to suddenly find herself an ally.
Mr. Fan's initial shock quickly gave way to annoyance. "Out of respect, you should call me 'grandpa.' Don't call me 'Mr. Fan.' It makes people think I'm taking advantage of you. More importantly, do you really think that Colin's better than my grandson?"
A moment ago, Sophia was pleased by the prospect of getting rid of Flynn.
But hearing Mr. Fan's displeasure, Sophia quickly shut her mouth. She hesitated for a moment, but couldn't help saying, "Of course, as far as I'm concerned, Colin is the best."
Mr. Fan sneered. "In that case, the next time Flynn calls you, don't answer."
"Alright. But what if he comes to me personally?" It was possible.
Mr. Fan thought for a moment. "Then tell him that Niki is getting engaged."
Niki? Who was that? Despite her confusion, Sophia didn't ask further and readily agreed. "Okay. Thank you, Grandpa Fan."
"Good. If Flynn approaches you again, call me." Mr. Fan's voice turned serious again.
"I will. Goodbye." Sophia hung up the phone. She was delighted to have someone to help solve her problem.
Her mobile phone rang again. This time, it was Colin. "Mr. Colin, why did you tell on me?"
She found it difficult to believe that Colin could do such thing.
Colin snorted. "If I didn't call Mr. Fan, you'd end up dead and I'd have to bury your body."
"What do you mean?" She suddenly felt nervous.
Colin thought of Flynn's merciless father. "Don't worry about it. Have you come to terms with Grandpa Fan?"
"Yes. But who's Niki?" Sophia asked curiously.
"Flynn's woman." He didn't know until he got the investigation report.
"I see. Is there anything else you want to tell me?" She complained.
Colin twisted his mouth. "Are you pregnant?"
Sophia was startled by Colin's sudden question. How could he ask something like that over the phone? Sophia's face darkened. "No, I'm not."
They both fell silent. The atmosphere suddenly grew heavy.
Why would he ask her that? At the end of the call, Sophia looked at her phone in confusion.
If she wasn't pregnant, was it her fault? She couldn't get pregnant on her own.
But Colin had tried hard to get her pregnant. Why wasn't she pregnant yet? Did she become infertile again?
Night fell. In a French restaurant, Dorothy looked at the mirror as she retouched her make-up. "Mom, how do I look?"
She especially put bright red lipstick on her lips.
Marcella leafed through the menu and glanced at her daughter. "You look beautiful. My daughter's the most beautiful princess."
Dorothy giggled. "Thanks, mom." She happily packed up her cosmetics.
At half past seven, A tall and handsome man entered the restaurant on time. The manager greeted him, "Good evening, Mr. Colin. Your fiancee is waiting for you."
"Good evening, Colin." Dorothy greeted her fiance shyly. Every time she saw Colin, she felt as happy as a girl passionately in love.
Colin glanced at the mother and the daughter coldly. He sat opposite them and looked at his watch. "I'm sorry, I only have 15 minutes before I have to return to the office for an important board meeting." Marcella and Dorothy looked at each other in embarrassment. Putting on a false smile, Marcella said, "It's fine. The manager can order some dishes for us. Have some food before you leave and handle your business."
Colin beckoned the manager. "Excuse me. Please order some dishes for my fiancee and her mother."
The manager smiled. "Please wait for a few minutes."
Before Marcella could speak, Dorothy couldn't help saying, "Colin, I have good news for you!"
Colin looked at Dorothy, whose face was covered with heavy make-up. Didn't she know that pregnant women weren't supposed to use heavy make-up? He remembered that when Sophia was pregnant, she gave all of her cosmetics away. All the skincare products she used were especially made for pregnant women.
This was the difference between the two women.
"Enlighten me." Colin replied indifferently.
Dorothy blushed. "I'm pregnant." Before Colin could reply, she added, "I got pregnant that night at my brother's villa."
Colin seemed to be surprised first.
Then he sniggered, startling both Dorothy and Marcella. They were surprised. In a motherly tone, Marcella said, "Fortunately, your wedding will be held in a few days. Colin, you should spend more time with your pregnant wife."
Colin nodded and answered tenderly, "Of course. Dorothy, if you need anything, just call Wade. With the Spring Festival coming, I have a lot of business to handle. Please forgive me if I can't look after you properly."
Dorothy felt lightheaded from Colin's gentle voice. At his words, she hastily shook her head. "I'm fine. Do your job and don't worry about me. I'll tell Wade if I need anything. I'll be a good mother and take care of our baby."
"All right. Do you have anything else to tell me?" Colin looked at Marcella.
"Yes. Colin, Aaron locked up Dorothy with two fierce dogs recently. My daughter was nearly scared to death, and she was even scratched! Luckily, the baby is fine."
Marcella grasped her daughter's arm and pulled up her sleeves to show Colin the scratches.
Colin tried hard to contain his smile and put on a frown instead. "Has she been vaccinated? I'll get back at Aaron for this!"
"Yes, she's already been vaccinated. The doctor said that she's fine." Marcella pulled her daughter's sleeves down.
Dorothy bit her bottom lip, hastily saying, "Colin, I overreacted earlier at noon. I lost my temper at Sophia, I'm sorry. I'll behave myself in the future."
Colin nodded. "Good. My wife is supposed to be gentle and forgiving. Dorothy, if anybody angers you in the future, tell me. I won't let them go easily." Moved, Dorothy looked at her fiance with gratitude and admiration. She would've hugged him if they weren't in public.
"Thank you, Colin."
Colin looked at his watch again. "I should go now. Enjoy your dinner. Dorothy, please take care of the baby. It's important to me."¶¶¶¶¶¶
