Chapter 7
“Atlas.” He barely able to speak, his face scrunches up in pain, as the blood oozes out of the large gash covering his abdomen.
“Felix.” Immediately, holding him, I lead him inside.
Both I and my beast wants the blood of the person who has hurt our younger brother.
We can’t die easily, but one of the ways to kill us is to stake us through our hearts. However, serious injuries tend to weaken us to the point that we can die from the lack of blood.
“Your wound needs to be fixed before you lose all your blood.” Throwing his arm around my neck, I hold all his weight as I take him to the bedroom.
The only response I get from him is groaning. His eyes turning to glow faintly indicating that his beast is trying to give him the strength to heal his human body.
We heal quickly because of our beast, but when we suffer from any serious injuries they need to be treated first. Because the loss of blood not only weakens our human side but it even affects our beast which can eventually lead to death.
Lying him on the bed, not bothered about the blood which is now covering the sheets. I rip open his shirt as my angry hiss vibrates the entire room when I watch the large gash running down from his chest towards his stomach. The skin around the gash looks like it is burning. This only means that he has been attacked by some hunter.
They have a special weapon that is formed by using all five elements of the earth.
Kill them.
Kill who hurt ours.
I and my beast share the same thoughts. We both want to shred the person who has dared to hurt our brother.
But first, we need to help him.
Getting the first aid box, with a warm water bowl, from the bathroom. I kneel beside the bed, where half-conscious Felix is lying, and start to clean the wound. He hisses in pain as I clean the wound, but it is necessary to be cleaned properly before I stitch him up.
“Hold on, Felix, just a little more,” I speak to him softly, trying to comfort him but he keeps on groaning in pain, as I quickly work on his wound to lessen his pain.
Hurting... Felix hurting.
My beast’s pained voice echoes in my mind seeing our brother hurt.
“Felix will be fine, our boy is strong.” I try to console myself and him. While I start to stitch his wound.
“OH MY GOD!” I hear Regina’s panic-filled voice from behind me as I just finished stitching his wound.
I have forgotten about Regina while tending Felix.
“What happened to him? How did he get hurt?” She asks standing next to me as I cover his wound with the bandage.
Then she walks around the bed and sits beside him while tears rolling down from her eyes as her eyes fixed at his wound.
Felix unconsciously whimpers and instantly her eyes snap to his face and she gently strokes his hair in a soothing manner.
I am surprised at her concern. But what happens next completely leaves me speechless.
Felix turns to his side and places his head on her lap and holds her hand with both of his hands.
Instantly, I stand up and moves away from them ready to hold back my beast if he tries to take over. Because our beast doesn’t react nicely if someone touches our other-half.
Love... they love her.
There is no anger in his tone, but admiration as he watches Regina and Felix.
My eyes also watch the scene before me in fascination and awe.
The way Felix is holding Regina looks like a child trying to find comfort in his mother’s touch. It seems like his beast has recognized her as my soul that’s why he is reacting this way.
Being the elder brother, I am more of a father to him as our own father is absent from our lives.
Regina whispers sweet nothings to unconscious Felix while she continues to run her hand through his hair. She wipes her tears with one hand while looking at his face.
Her eyes move to the quilt folded up at the end of the bed, then to Felix curled up form. Instantly, I understand her intention and cover Felix with the quilt.
His face no longer morphed in pain as he sleeps peacefully.
She looks at me, her eyes hold a lot of questions. But I can’t miss the maternal affection in her eyes for my brother. Unknowingly, she has created a bond with him.
My eyes glisten as I have not felt this much happiness in a long time. Not only I have found my soul but also it looks like she has filled the void in my brothers’ life which was left after my mother’s death.
Walking to her, leaning down I kiss her head as she reaches for my hand with her free hand.
“Thank you for taking care of our brother.” My beast and I thank her for comforting our brother when we fail to soothe his pain.
“I don’t why but seeing him in pain, hurts my heart,” she whispers in confusion staring at Felix then turns to look at me, “I don’t want him to get hurt ever.”
You and me both, my Queen.
We both can’t stand to watch our family get hurt.
Looking at her I smile, as she is in all sense our soul...our better-half.
After Regina reluctantly left Felix’s side to attend her grandmother’s call. I quickly feed Felix a few drops of my blood which will help him to regain his strength and quicken the healing process.Sometimes hunters hunt us for our blood, like some feral animals. Because our blood has healing qualities and can cure many life-threatening human diseases if it is given to any human in due time. Our blood will not turn them into a vampire it just makes their immune system incredibly strong to fight off the disease.
Not even a few minutes have passed since I give him my blood, I can already see Felix’s healing process has sped up as he is looking so much better. I guess, in three to four hours he will wake up.
Closing the door I walk outside the room and enter the living room the moment she has finished her call with her grandmother.
“Atlas, there are so many things which I want to know.” She looks at me running her hand over her head in frustration, “All this doesn’t make sense.” She shrugs looking perplexed.
“First you, then him. How to explain this to you, because even I am not able to figure this out myself.” She points at the room in which Felix is sleeping, "I could feel his distress.” She places her hand over her chest just above her heart.
"My heart was literally in pain watching him like that." She licks her bottom lip nervously, "I have this strong urge to somehow take away his pain... to comfort him."
I watch her as she crosses and uncrosses her fingers while biting her lower lip. Probably a nervous habit of hers.
"I don't know who he is." She shrugs looking even more confused than before, "Honestly, I don't even know you properly. For the love of God, I have just met you today. But still, neither you or him seem strangers to me. I feel like I know you guys."
"I didn't know he was your brother until you told me. But I don't know why he feels like..." She frowns as if she is trying to find a word that could describe what is she feeling. "Like he is... someone I know... like he is..."
"Like he is family." I complete her sentence with a small smile. I haven't smiled so much in my entire life, how much I have smiled just after meeting her.
"Yeah...yeah... it feels like he is family." She nods to herself and stares at the wall, "He feels like family." She looks at me as if confirming herself.
"Ugh! This is all too much for me." She groans in frustration and stomps her foot, "I am going crazy."
"No, I am not crazy." She shakes her head, then glares at me, "You are crazy. It is all happening because you walk into my life and jumbled up all my emotions. You brought all this craziness with you." She presses her lips together to fight off the smile which is appearing on her beautiful face.
"You are right, I am crazy." I nod my head and slowly walk towards her, "I am crazy for you, from the moment I set my eyes on you." Placing my hands on her waist I pull her closer to me as I gaze into her eyes.
Maybe even way before that...
"See?" She whispers, then chuckles, "You say such things and my emotions go haywire." She sighs with a small smile.
Closing her eyes, she places her head on my chest and encircles her arms around me.
"You have created this havoc inside me, at the same time your presence brought indescribable calmness in my heart." She chuckles lightly, as her chuckle reaches straight to my heart.
"This is crazy." She whispers, leaning away she glances at me, "But I like this craziness." She smiles making my heart beat loudly in my chest.
