Chapter 14
Lifting her head from my chest, she looks at me in disbelief.
“Atlas?” She touches my face and frowns in confusion as I have turned back into my human form.
Placing my hand over her hand, I kiss inside of her palm.
“You and me are going to have some serious talk.” She quietly speaks, “You are in so much trouble, mister.” She playfully narrows her eyes at me.
Now looking at her expression I am not sure whether she has actually noticed my beast or not, but tonight I will tell her everything because after this I can't let her stay away from me.
Before I can say something I hear someone coming towards us. Out of instinct, I push her behind me while standing protectively in front of her.
“Gina!” I notice an older woman coming hurriedly towards us following by a number of guards.
“Nonna, are you alright?” Regina walks into her arms, “I have told you to stay inside your room, “Why did you come out?” She scolds her.
“Don’t forget, young lady.” Her nonna glares at her, but you can’t miss the relief in her eyes to see Regina unharmed, “I am your Nonna, and you can’t keep me locked inside my room like some spoiled brat.”
“These two are dead.” Dan, the guy whom I have met before, informs after he inspects the two bodies lying on the ground.
“What about others?” Regina’s Nonna asks, suddenly her face turns serious without any trace of affection on her face which she has a moment ago.
“We have managed to capture three intruders, however, the other two managed to escape.” He informs.
“Try to get information from them and make sure they open their mouth.” Regina orders, “And clean this up.”
Dan nods his head and quickly gets to work.
“Oh, God! Your face.” Regina’s eyes filled with concern as she looks at Theo who is silently standing away from everyone, “You are hurt.”
The cut of his face has been bleeding like it does every time when he changes. When we change into our beast our physical feature changes and whenever he changes the cut on his face split opens.
“I am fine,” he says in a harsh tone.
I don’t like the way he spoke to her but I know he doesn't mean to insult her, it is his natural reaction whenever anyone points at his scar.
She looks at me and I simply shakes my head silently asking her to drop it.
Felix comes running towards us his gaze meets mine then he looks at Theo, the anger in his eyes is hard to miss. He nods his subtly while clenching his jaws answering the silent question which is in our eyes.
From my peripheral vision, I see Theo and find him struggling to control his beast as our suspicion of hunters’ hand behind this attack has been confirmed.
They must have found about Regina being my soul and it means they will try to hurt to get back at us.
I share a look with my brothers and it is evident in their eyes that they are going to stand beside me to protect Regina if the time comes.
Theo and Felix leave to look more into this matter whereas I am with Regina at her home.
“Nonna, listen, uncle Marco is coming to pick you up in some time and you are going with him.” Regina loosens her hair from hair tie as she hangs up the call after talking to her uncle, “You will stay with uncle Marco until we get all this under control.”
“Gina, when are you going to properly introduce me to this handsome man?” Ignoring Regina, she walks to me.
“I am Anna Russo, Regina’s nonna.” She smiles at me.
“Hello, ma’am, I am Atlas King.” I nod my head respectfully.
“Call me Anna.” She smiles then gestures me to sit on the couch.
“You are my granddaughter’s boyfriend if I am not wrong?” She arches her eyebrow.
“Nonna!” Regina shouts looking horrified for some reason.
“Shush.” Anna brings her forefinger near her lips as she glances at Regina. “I have a right to know the person, you want to get married to.”
My lips tilt up in a smirk when I notice Regina's cheeks getting warm as she is deliberately not looking at me.
"We are just seeing each other." Regina looks utterly embarrassed.
While I and my beast are thoroughly enjoying her this side, suddenly a fierce tigress turns into a little kitten.
However, the light atmosphere instantly changes when a middle-aged man enters the house looking livid, but, his expression softens when his eyes land on Regina.
"Gina." He whispers as he embraces her in a hug.
Clenching my hands into fists, I control my best not snap his arms.
"Are you okay?" He pulls back and cups her face in his hand while inspecting her for any physical injuries.
Involuntarily, a snarl ripples inside my chest which I cover with a cough.
Instantly, his eyes shift on me as his expression hardens.
"Who is he?" He asks not hiding the hostility in his tone.
"Uncle Marco, he is Atlas." Regina extends her hand towards me and without wasting any moment I grab her hand and stand beside her pulling her towards me.
"Atlas King." I hold his stare unflinchingly.
"Marco Russo." He curtly introduces himself while looking at me with his calculative gaze.
"Marco stop giving him a death stare, he is Gina's boyfriend and I have already approved him the moment he showed up here when he thought she might be in trouble." Anna's voice turns his attention to her.
"Mother, how are you?" He turns to his mother.
"Finally." Anna rolls her eyes, "I thought you are never going to ask how I am doing."
For the first time since he came here, a small smile stretches across his lips as he gives her a brief hug.
"It is happening again, right?" Anna asks with a hint of anger."Just like last time, even this time, they will not succeed." A dark look passes across Marco's face. "My men are digging deeper into this matter, soon we will catch whoever is behind this." He looks in my direction with pure anger as if he wants to kill me.
"Why don't, you and me, we have a word in private?" He abruptly stands up, as he motions me to follow him.
"Marco, he is not one of them." Anna quickly stands up and holds her son's elbow as she looks at me.
Regina has gone to take a shower while I wait for her in the living room with Anna and Marco. Being away from her is nothing but pain and beast is continuously demanding to be near her, but I don't want her to feel suffocated with my protectiveness.
"How can you say that?" He glares at her, "Maybe they have asked him to get close to her so that they can get her."
"Marco, he loves her," Anna says softly, "Right?" she looks at me with hopeful eyes.
"Yes, I love her," I answer without even missing a beat, "There is nothing in this world which more important to me than her."
"I am not sure, and don't care, what you think about me." Arching an eyebrow, I look at Marco with the same cold gaze which he is directing towards me, "But if you think that I can harm Regina then you are wrong, however, the only person who should be afraid of me is the person who ever tried to hurt her. "
"Because I will harm that person in every way possible who even dares to think about hurting my Regina in any way." A sinister smile comes on my face.
