(Book 5)- Chapter 58
Theon
Thaddeus pecked Trinity’s cheek before he rolled out of bed. We still had a good few hours until we gathered for the meeting, but Thaddeus was troubled. Trinity would not stop talking about some squirrel sitting outside of our window, swearing she saw red, beady little eyes watching us. Thaddeus and I were both laughing, cutting up, and joking. Even Eva would flash her eyes in amusement.
I couldn’t wait until Trinity would finally shift. She could take runs with us through the forest and having her more protected put me at ease. Having a wolf gave you the strength to fight the physical fights. She had already proved strong before Eva even settled with in her. Her change would be a great one to watch. Even Mia was mind-linking me every ten minutes for any more physical changes in her body.
When we finally got her to sleep, because she was acting like a toddler that didn’t get their night time treat, we noticed a few changes. Her skin was brighter, like an elf that gives off an ethereal glow, with fewer imperfections. Thank the gods her freckles still painted her skin. That would have been a damn shame. I had already recounted the 429 of them on her face to make sure. Trinity’s ears were slightly pointed, very subtile, but it was there. Her hair was even thicker, more luscious than before since coming out of the shower.
These changes were coinciding with her parents mating somewhere in the pack house, or says so by Mia. She would notice some crazy s**t like that. When we told her all the changes, she wanted to scramble up to the room to sketch in her book, but there was no way that would happen. I’m not dealing with to whiny toddler waking up late at night.
Thaddeus mind-linked he was going to grab us breakfast. I could feel the annoyance on the other side of our brotherly bond. Anything would upset him if Trinity was upset. Once Trinity fell asleep, he got up and even went outside to make sure the vermin wasn’t there. Just confirming his suspicions, there wasn’t any animal. The forest was actually eerily quiet. Not even the night life was coming out like it normally did.
There were a lot of predators around, I’ll give you that. We have overpopulated the territory with warriors and bears. What other animal other than us would want to get in our way?
Trinity had her body glued to mine. I can hear her whispers saying my name all night long. That even bothered Thaddeus, enough to growl and turn his back to her, only to flip back over five minutes later and spoon her. Trinity defiantly had her hook in us both. Even being twin brothers that share everything, I know she will have to deal with splitting time with us both. She’s been amazing so far, even if I seem to be more stand offish. At night, she truly shows her love for me when she continues to whisper my name. It rests on my racing mind that my brother Thaddeus could be better for her alone, but I could see them butting heads with each other later.
We really balanced each other out.
Trinity stirred, clutching me tightly. Her bountiful breasts squeezed together at my side, my body ached to have one more round, but I swear if she brought up that squirrel I think Duke might go out and find it himself and eat the damned thing.
“Morning,” she whispered, covering her mouth. I chuckled.
“What are you doing, babe?” Her eyes looked to the bathroom.
“I have morning breath.” Smirking, I moved her palm from her mouth and kissed her lips. At first she denied but eventually gave in to my influence. My tongue swirled around hers, sucking on it gently.
“I smell nothing, but if you want to freshen up, we have a meeting soon.” Nodding, her cheeks grew pink as she padded off to the bathroom.
….
“I’m sorry, Your Highness, but Bohdi, along with Spencer, won’t be attending,” Lenhi had her still nameless baby in her arms. Alpha Big Paw stood over her protectively as Dad stewed in his seat. Mom immediately went to his side, sitting on his lap.
“Honey, did you really expect them not to mate? Bohdi, is how old?” Mom tried to sympathize with the sorceress. Mom and dad waited and dad told us multiple times how hard it was for him. His wolf was strong, strongest in the past 1000 years and hard to control, but he maintained it for mom. Luckily, she can calm him. I’m not sure what the worlds would have done if dad never found her.
“One week,” dad roared out. “They could have waited one week,” his fist hit the table. Everyone in the room jumped besides our family. Mia was flipping pages in her notebook, sighing, scribbling out some wording all while Marco eyed her up and down. Guess he always had a thing for nerds because Mia was as nerdy as they come.
“Dad, it’s alright,” Mia waved her hand around. “We got this. We just need to know an exact location for this ‘Kitsune,’ that shouldn’t be hard to find with a locator spell. Kitsune’s radiate enough magical energy even a low level sorcerer can do it.” Mia looked across the table, seeing both Matthew and Ajax. “Could either of you do it real quick? I don’t want to stress Luna Lenhi when she is still nursing the baby.”
Dad scowled over at the two sorcerers. Matthew looked more nervous than Ajax, but even he was making a few swallows of spit. “I’ll do it,” Ajax stood up, buttoning his cloak. “I just need a little more information. Do you know where Kitsunes normally reside? I’m unfamiliar with that species.”
Sorcerers used nationality to pin-point people they are looking for. Such as a wolf on Earth that was in Ireland would be easier to find if he or she had traveled to another country. Using the specific characteristic Ireland wolves have, such as their keen abilities to locate dragons, they can be found in America much easier. Much like a genetic footprint. The Kitsunes were normally found in Asia on Earth, so finding him here should be simple.
“Asia, specifically the Japan area,” Mia spoke formally. “I don’t think he has any ties to Bergarian, either. Otherwise, some sorcerer or sorceress would want to find one. They are peculiar creatures.”
The room was automatically dimmed as he pulled a small orb from his pocket. Trinity glared at the orb and watched it as Ajax move it through his fingers. Faster and faster he weaved the orb, concentrating. Suddenly, the glass ball dropped to the table, making the entire room jump and the light switch on so brightly it popped the bulbs out of the sockets.
“The f**k!?” Marco jumped to cover Mia from the glass, shattering from a nearby lamp. “Can you do anything right?” Marco bared his teeth. “She said it would be easy!” Ajax breathed heavily, Matthew putting his hand on Ajax’s forearm rubbed it while he continued to sit.
“It’s alright brother. Tell us what you saw.” Ajax looked over the room. Warriors stood with their arms crossed. Dad was about to blow his own fuse, and Thaddeus was ready to lunge at the guy to beat the information out of him.
“He’s close,… real close.” Ajax shook. “Hey, hey, it’s alright,” Matthew tried to soothe his brother, but Ajax shook his head.
“He’s here, here in the nearby town.” The room erupted into murmurs and gasps. Ajax took his fists, pressing them to the table and leaning over to keep himself up. “That’s not all,” he thundered. “The entire town of humans are dead.”
Landon, cursed under his breath. He was sitting beside Alpha Big Paw, turning around finding Stacy leaned up against the wall. Stacy cupped her hands together to hide her face, immediately sobbing. “My parents,” she whispered until she slid down the wall sitting on the floor. “Go to her,” Big Paw instructed. Throwing the chair out of the way, he picked up Stacy and held her to his chest.
“Oh my gods,” Trinity whispered, tears rolling down her face. “I knew almost everyone in that town.” taking in a heavy breath, I pulled her to my chest.
“The Kitsune will die,” dad stood from his seat. Ajax shook his head again. “I’m still not done.”
“What more is there to tell!? We asked for a damn locator spell to find him and you keep giving me s**t. Is that how magic works?”
“No, your highness it’s not. He came to me. He knew I found him.” More murmurs spread through the room. “He spoke into my mind. He’s powerful, maybe equal to Bohdi.”
“No,” Mia corrected. “His power isn’t equal to Bohdi, not yet. He needs a mate which will increase his power. However, that doesn’t mean he isn’t smart. He could out due Bohdi because of his swift thinking and intelligence, however.”
Marco stood up beside Mia. “What do we do then?”
“He knows we are coming now, I’m not sure,” Mia grabbed Marco’s hand.
“Trinity?” Ajax glanced over to my mate. Her hand squeezed both Thaddeus and I. “He wants you. You were his promised bride that your step-father sold you to.” Another tear ran down her cheek. “And if you don’t deliver yourself to him with in 24 hours, everyone in this territory will be dead with in hours.”
Thaddeus and I stood up, growling at Ajax, that he was the one trying to take away our mate. Punching a hole clear through the table, Thaddeus stomped over to Ajax, who was now shielded by Alpha Big Paw. Big Paw was easily thrown to the other side of the room. Ajax threw a force field around his body, protecting himself.
The punches and scratches got harder, breaking the opaque like barrier. Cracks formed across the barrier. Ajax’s magic was being pushed to the limit as b***d dripped from his nose. Trinity gracefully left the chair, looked at me one more time. Giving a soft smile, she put her hand on Thaddeus’ shoulder.
“He isn’t taking me away, Bambi,” Thaddeus immediately stopped. No one in the room dared to laugh. Thaddeus always told her he hated that name, but when Trinity used it, he purred like a kitten. She secretly loved it, too. “That fox is trying to get me, not him. Let Ajax go. He’s just a glorified mail man. Don’t make me roll up a newspaper and smack you,” she joked. Still, no one laughed. Thaddeus buried his head in Trinity’s shoulder, taking in her scent.
“You aren’t going,” Thaddeus and I mind-linked Trinity. “It just won’t happen.”
“Then we need to put up one hell of a fight, because both of you will be in the doghouse if one child gets hurt,” she sniffed.
Mia stood up. “Alright, here’s the deal. I need a portal, and I need one stat. We get all the non-fighters out of here and into a safe house far from here.” Alpha Big Paw quickly jumped up to agree.
“What do you need for a portal?”
“More witches,” Mia scratched her head. “Or just Bohdi. I don’t know if they have bitten to change each other’s genetic makeup or not.”
“They have,” Lenhi spoke. “However, Bohdi will wake up soon. I feel her life force awakening and the goddess and blessed her with a wolf as well.”
“Holy s**t,” Bohdi’s body guards spoke aloud.
“She’s gonna be powerful,” Mia grinned. “There are very few witch wolf hybrids and they were nowhere near as powerful as Bohdi. This will give us an advantage. What about Spencer?” Lenhi shook her head.
“I can feel his wolf, but Spencer is still asleep. I’m sorry. I wish I could help more.” Mia smiled.
“You’ve done enough Luna. Now let’s get you and the rest of the ones not fighting prepared.”
I got up from my seat, moving to be near my mate. She had both of us by her side. No one in the room even questioned about sending her to the Kitsune to save everyone’s lives. We lose one wolf. We lose them all.
“Sadie and I will travel to the b***d coven so we can take care of infusions,” dad spoke.
“No,” I exclaimed. “You are needed here, and you know it. We will go. We take Trinity with us. The Kitsune won’t expect us to just leave the pack. We will be back in twelve hours’ time, ready for the fight.” Dad weighed his options. Dad knew he didn’t have the patience to deal with a bunch of vampires. Even though they were in our good graces, many still hated him for the way he destroyed several covens during the Dark War, not caring what side they were on.
“Fine,” the room let out a breath. “You leave now. Take the truck and we will have wolves escort you out. Have Trinity’s smell cloaked by one sorcerer and keep her hidden until you are far enough away.”
Seth set Mom on the table. She watched her mate come to her only two sons. “Be safe.” He hugged both Thaddeus and I. The room looked on with bewilderment. They have not seen their king so openly affectionate. When he came to Trinity, she stared back at him with wide eyes. “Keep them safe, be smart. Your parents are going to be safe.” Trinity let out a tiny sob. Dad pulled her into a hug and held her there longer than he had ever hugged one of us.
“If she gets a scratch. I’ll kick both of your asses.”
Aaaaand dad’s back.
