(Book 5)- Chapter 38
Trinity
After dessert, ha, wink, wink, we finally ate the goodies in the basket. Thaddeus had been lying on the cushion, propped up on some pillows, slowly eating his sandwich. He was utterly sated; we both were. Something about a good climax and food really relaxed us.
“So,” I drug out. “Want to tell me who also joined us this evening?” Thaddeus stopped chewing on his breadstick; his eyes slowly reached mine. Wiggling my eyebrows, I laughed at the worried expression.
“Uh,” Thaddeus sat up, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. “Yeah, I can explain.” I laughed, pushing him playfully. The worried expression faltered once he was sitting up. Even being so tall myself, he still towered over me.
“That was Damian,” Thaddeus chuckled. “He’s my wolf, and he and I,” he scratched the back of his head. “Were fighting who gets to touch you. Damian wanted to mate with you, and I held him back because Theon isn’t here. Then he got the bright idea just to join me at the same time.”
“That’s why your eyes continued to change color?” Thaddeus nodded. His eyes flickered again and stayed dark.
“I’m sorry, mate.” The voice was more profound than Thaddeus, rough and unbridled.
“Damian?” Damian’s head lowered, his nose grazing my collar bone.
“You just smell so good,” his hand went up to cup my breast; I rolled my eyes, grabbing his hand.
“I guess it’s alright,” I teased.
“You did enjoy it though, your thighs quaked when we f****d you with our fingers.” I blushed scarlet; we weren’t even in the right mood to be talking about this.
“That, what?” I stuttered while Damian hummed. His fingers trailed down my chest, which was now covered with Thaddeus’ shirt.
“I can still smell your arousal on my fingers. Just wait until we f**k,….” Damian shook his head, the black eyes turned back into the electric blue. Thaddeus cleared his throat; his hand was still at my breast.
“Sorry, he’s a bit horny.” Damian wasn’t the only one that was horny; Thaddeus’ manhood was jabbing me in my thigh. Thaddeus’ pecked me on the lips lightly. “As much as I want to continue this, we probably should head out; I told Alpha Big Paw we wouldn’t keep his members out of their library too long. We gave a quick k**s back, cleaned up our mess, and put the couches back to their rightful places.
…
Thaddeus held my hand while we walked to the dining hall; he continued to brush my knuckles with his thumb. Quiet times with Thaddeus were pleasant. He wasn’t much of a talker, but his touch was something else. I was so happy that I felt love for both of these wolves; spending time with each separately would all do us some good. They were still two people, and fighting for one mate had been hard.
I smiled up at my possessive mate once we reached the dining hall. Many were eating late dinners, many warriors who came from patrolling the territory or training grounds. “Alpha Thaddeus, can I speak with you?” Alpha Big Paw was standing with his wife Linhi and their nameless baby. The full moon ceremony to give their baby a name had to be put off because of the massive rogue attack. Big Paw was headstrong that they wait before naming their son. This left the pack itching to know the new baby alpha’s name.
Thaddeus started to pull me toward Alpha Big Paw, but I found Stacy sitting alone, pushing her food around her plate. She looked so lonely; her eyes never drifted upwards to look into the room. “Thaddeus, can I go talk to Stacy?” Stacy’s house arrest was over, she had no chains on her, and her own cousin wasn’t sitting with her. Thaddeus squeezed my hand tighter; he didn’t want to let me go. “I’ll stay here, right with Stacy. I won’t go anywhere else,” I cooed at him. His face softened, giving me another k**s on the cheek. I was becoming too spoiled with all this attention.
“Stay in this room, don’t leave. I mean it,” Thaddeus playfully growled while swatting my butt over to Stacy.
“Stacy?” Meat, potatoes, gravy, and green beans were spread around her plate. None of it had been touched while her fork danced across her plate. I leaned over to find her hidden face. Her hair was short, so she couldn’t hide behind locks of hair.
“Hey, Trinity,” the once perky voice was now missing, and a solemn voice replaced it. “How are you and your mates?” she quickly added. Not wanting to bring up the Elijah issue, we talked about how weird all of this was to me. Growing up thinking this was all a fairytale, and now my soul is to be bound to two werewolves that were alphas; oh yeah, and they were princes too. I lived a true fairy tale and became a princess in one of my books.
Stacy laughed when I told her about Liz, the dumb she-wolf getting her butt kicked by a human. “She was terrible when I was a kid when I came to visit my cousin. Liz would pull my hair and pick on me because I wasn’t like them. I’m glad you showed her whose boss.”
“I’d do it again too; if I had known she picked on you, maybe I would have scratched her pretty face.” Stacy snorted.
“You are too much!” We both laughed until the inevitable came up. Stacy had to talk about it; there was no going around it. She had been a wonderful friend to me, and now her emotional state was a wreck.
“How are you doing, Stacy?” asking with concern. Stacy bit her l*p, shaking her head.
“I don’t know; I thought he really liked me.” Her eyes glistened. “Maybe it was because I wanted him to like me. After getting humiliated in middle school, he was the first guy who wanted to be my friend and hang out with me. Now that we are older, I thought it could be something more. I guess not.” Taking Stacy’s hand in mine, I rubbed the top knuckles gently. “They killed him, you know?” My back straightened.
“They did this morning. I had the option to say goodbye, and I couldn’t do it. Elijah could have gotten so many people killed; he led your father here to take you away, all for what? Money? He wasn’t the guy I thought he was,” Stacy choked. “I’m a terrible judge of character, starting with Landon. I’m just terrible picking out guys and friends.” I faked pain in my chest.
“What about me?! I’m your friend! Am I that terrible?” Pretending to cry, Stacy back peddled the conversation, but we both ended up laughing. Stacy was hurt, filled with feelings that had nowhere to go. She grew up with a great, loving family, but the friendships she tried to start always failed. That’s what happens when you live in a small town, and there isn’t anyone to pick from. Her friends from the bar weren’t really her friends, just other people she graduated high school with. Stacy wasn’t a bad judge of character; she just didn’t have anyone else to talk to.
“You are my friend,” I told Stacy. “You are actually my very first friend.”
“Really?” she wiped the snot from her wrist.
“Really,” I deadpanned. “Now, let me ask you something.” I leaned across the table, covering my mouth so no one could hear. “Do you still like Landon? You keep bringing him up, and I can’t help at the longing gazes you send him?”
Stacy gasped. “How could you ask me that? My ex-boyfriend was executed this morning!” I raised a brow, c*****g my head to the side. Stacy’s once mean glare turned to embarrassment. Her fingers tapped the table, wiggling her body from side to side. If I waited much longer to rebuttal my reply, she would be sweating.
“Come on, I see how you look at him. You also looked at him that way when Elijah was around. You liked Landon better all along; Elijah was just a replacement.” I nodded my head over to the warriors’ table. Landon was the head warrior, and even I could see him glancing back over at our table to Stacy. Mission, ‘get Stacy a mate,’ had commenced. “Check out those muscles, Stacy.” Stacy glanced back over to his table, their eyes locked, but Stacy looked away.
“I, I can’t like him. He made it very clear what he thought of me in front of a ton of people,” she stuttered. “He has a mate out there. Werewolves aren’t into dating like that anyway.” Stacy jabbed a fork into her green beans and chewed angrily.
“Besides, I’m still mad at him.”
“You were in middle school!” Stacy scoffed. “Give the guy a break. Do you even know if he is your mate or not?”
“I’m not a wolf,” she hissed. “How would I know? Did you know you were mated to your mates?” I shook my head a bit.
“Just when they touched me,” I whispered. “Even in their wolf form, I felt tingles running through my skin. At the time, I didn’t know what it meant, though. Other than that, I didn’t have any way to know. Just that they were extremely hot and made me extremely wet,” I snorted. Stacy threw her head back to laugh. It was the first real laugh I had heard in a while.
“I think male or female would get wet at the sight of those two alphas,” she spoke a little too loud. A growl was heard across the room; everyone turned to find out where it came from, many shook their heads. Wolves quickly went back to their meals. I snickered, knowing that Theon’s theory had to be true. Landon was staring intently at Stacy, and she had no inkling. Stacy might even think that Landon hates her.
“What if,” I drank some of Stacy’s drink, “we did an experiment?” Stacy eyed me up and down; her eyes looked back at Landon for a moment.
“And do what?”
“Go touch him. See if you get the tingles,” I taunted. Stacy acted like I slapped her in the face. Which I have already done once. On accident, so it was alright.
“Noo,” she whined. “What if he looks at me weird? If I am his mate, wouldn’t he have said something already?” She had a point. Wolves wanted their mates badly. Why wouldn’t Landon claim Stacy?
“Maybe he is embarrassed what he did in middle school. I mean, you both would be holding onto the past; that is how you guys are alike in some ways, maybe?” Trying to sound confident, I was failing because Stacy shook her head.
“Nah, not going to do it.” I rubbed my chin.
“Then do what wolves do, go sniff his butt or something,” I waved my hand, drinking more of Stacy’s drink. Several wolves looked in our direction, and we burst out laughing.
“No way,” Stacy’s tears gathered in her eyes. “Werewolves don’t sniff butts!”
“They sniff arousal; I wouldn’t be surprised if my mates would stick their noses in my crotch to check if I was ovulating,” I murmured.
“Then fine, we do it the human way,” I whispered. “Make him jealous. Find an unmated wolf to play along. He couldn’t touch a human, but he can show he’s pissed with other wolves, right?” Stacy’s lips curled into a smile.
“I think you are on to something,” her cheeks flushed. “But who would want to play my boyfriend? They would have to know what we were doing?”
My eyes scanned the room; Thaddeus was still talking to Alpha Big Paw in a heated conversation. Several unmated warriors were throwing food and arm wrestling on the table. Several omegas started to help with the food clean-up until Spencer tapped me on my shoulder. “What are you ladies doing? You look like you are up to something. Spencer sat down next to Stacy, knowing he was already under Thaddeus’ gaze across the room. No unmated males can touch me.
Stacy’s eyes lit up, and pointed to Spencer. “What about Spencer?” She chirped. He’s Landon’s second; it would be perfect!” I shook my head.
“No, he can’t do it.” Spencer had accepted a rejection from his mate earlier today. I couldn’t possibly ask him to help. I was already pushing Stacy to find Landon after a devastating blow about Elijah, and now getting Spencer’s feelings involved would become too messy.
Maybe all this wasn’t a good idea. Perhaps it was just a bad idea.
“No, Stacy,” I repeated. “Just no. Forget it.” Stacy frowned.
“What’s going on?” Spencer stepped in, seeing the tension.
“Trinity thinks that Landon is my mate,” I g*****d. My own mates were going to find out I was butting in where I shouldn’t be. “She thinks I should go touch him to find out, but I can’t. Like if it is wrong? Trinity says we should make him jealous until he goes crazy.” Stacy cackled.
I’ve created a monster.
Stacy fluttered her eyes at Spencer. The thoughts of Elijah were long gone, and now the obsession with finding out if Landon was her mate was there. I had to be correct. Otherwise, I might crush the heart of my only friend for a second time.
“Spencer, no, you don’t have-“
“I’ll do it,” Spencer interrupted. He secretly glanced over at Landon’s table. Landon remained stoic, but the grip on his drink said otherwise. He didn’t like Spencer so close. “This is almost too easy,” Spencer put his arm around Stacy, giving me a wink in return. “This would be a great distraction for me.”
I uncomfortably shifted in my seat, praying to any higher authority that this didn’t blow up in my face. If I couldn’t feel more uncomfortable, I felt my mate’s hand rest on my shoulder. His face contorted with apprehension until he sat at my side.
“Trinity,” he whispered. “I don’t want to alarm you, but Theon hasn’t come back yet.” My eyes dilated; my mafia father didn’t get to him, did he? “I can’t mind-link him, he is either blocking me out, or something is keeping him out. He’s safe, I would feel him if he was in any pain, but Alpha Big Paw is getting worried since the sun is setting.” My hand gripped Thaddeus’ while he looked down into my lap. “We won’t be able to send trackers out since the territory is under lockdown at night. It is just too dangerous until a powerful witch comes in to help Lenhi put a ward up. He may be out for the night.”
My stomach dropped. Theon was out of the territory, and no one knew where he was, and now no help would come to him until morning. That wasn’t going to do; we weren’t held to this pack, were we?
“Then that means we go find his sorry a*s and drag him back here,” I spat.
