Her Forever

(Book 5)- Chapter 24

Trinity’s POV

After another round of ‘just’ cleaning, we all got dressed to go to dinner. This would be my first dinner with the entire pack in the packhouse. This dinner was in honor of Thaddeus and Theon finding me, their mate. It was still a difficult concept to comprehend. That just looking at me, smelling me, they would know I was their soul mate. For me, it was their eyes. They say eyes are the windows to the soul, and those electric blue ones had me drowning for their affection.

I had given up all hope of fighting them. Why would any woman anyway? Two men come into your life saying you are their soul mate, and I am supposed to fight them off with a stick and say, “no way! I’m an independent woman?” That wasn’t me, not anymore. It was scary in the beginning to think I was to be tied down to two men, but now I couldn’t imagine anything else.

“Hello, love birds,” Stacy cooed while her hand was wrapped around Elijah’s arm. Elijah nodded in greeting when they both walked up.

“We need have our girl talk,” Stacy nudged, did an over-elaborate wink, and nudge again. I snorted a bit, giggling like a schoolgirl until Thaddeus grabbed my wrist.

“We need our mate,” Thaddeus pulled me back. “She can’t go anywhere.” I did my own version of a growl that got a few laughs from a nearby table.

“I’ll be right here,” standing on my tippy toes and giving him a peck.

“That table, right there,” I pointed. Grabbing Stacy before anyone could protest, I led her to the small table in the corner. This was my chance; I needed to talk to her about Elijah, if there really were feelings there and if she had any for Landon. Before sitting down, Theon shot me a look. The look with squinty eyes and a slight shaking of the head. He didn’t want me saying anything.

With an extra pout towards him, I frowned only to have his arms across his chest. I’ll just pry a little then.

“I need details! I need to know how big and if you’ve done it yet. Obviously, you haven’t been marked…” her hand went straight to my shoulder and ripped it to the side.

“Hey, stop that,” I slapped her hand. “What are you doing?”

“Seeing if they marked you,” she looked at me like I was dumb.

“Of course, they marked me; look at me!” I had hickies from the bottom of my jaw down to the upper part of my chest. Alright, on my chest too, but I didn’t need to flaunt the girls to the whole dining hall.

“No, no, THE mark. The big one you get on your shoulder. I heard the male wolves bite their females to leave a good scar. They say it its erotic, sexy and totally barbaric by human standards. In other words, hot as hell. I want one,” Stacy giggled. “Maybe Elijah could just bit me anyway.”

“I don’t know if he would be into that; he looks like he would be plain vanilla, Stacy.” Stacy sighed, leaning on her arm. “Not when I’m through with him. I can break him in a bit,” Stacy glanced around the room, only to see Elijah staring back at our table. The boys were staring at me, watching every move I made.

The mark… hmm, I would have to ask the boys about that one later.

Elijah’s smile didn’t meet his eyes when Stacy flirtatiously waved back at him. This had to be one-sided. “Enough about me Stacy, I want to hear about Elijah. What have you both been doing the past two days?” Stacy huffed and put her hand down.

“I worried about you mostly; Elijah was the same. We searched the entire town together and even went close to the werebears territory, a big no-no. Elijah took a lot of pictures though, he got this brand new camera, super fancy. He must have ordered it and picked it up in the next town over.”

Stacy rambled on about the camera. Since when did Elijah like taking pictures? I’ve never heard him mention anything about that hobby; then again, I hadn’t talked to him much since I’ve known him.

“Are they digital?” Stacy suddenly stopped speaking.

“Huh?”

“Digital? Are they digital so he can put his images on a computer?”

Stacy stared off into space like she was looking for a specific file in her brain.

“Oh yes! And he sent a bunch of them to a wildlife magazine. Elijah found some awesome pictures of some of the bear shifters; humans don’t know the difference, so he got some action shots of those, then took some pictures of the wolves while I was yelling at Landon.” Stacy’s eyes sparkled a bit. “You think Elijah will become famous for his wildlife photography?” Stacy gushed about Elijah, but I have not seen Elijah start the affections. I doubted the whole relationship. Especially after sitting in a truck knowingly letting Stacy get yelled at by a werewolf.

Elijah at least pretended to act worried for me when Josiah came around to bully me. Was there no possessive bone in his body to protect Stacy? Biting my l*p, I tried to stay optimistic, but the more I dug, the more I worried.

“Alright, tell me this.” Stacy stopped muttering about Elijah becoming the famous wife of a nationally renowned photographer. “What is the deal with you and Landon,” Stacy yapped, threw her hands on the table dramatically while exhaling sharply.

“I had a crush on him for a long time. We went to different schools. I told him I liked him in 6th grade, and he laughed at me in front of all his friends. It was so humiliating.”

“Oh, Stacy, I’m sorry.” She shook her head.

“That’s when I started liking Elijah a few years later. He was pretty nice when he moved here with his family. He was the new kid, so it was easy to make friends with him, especially since he didn’t know about my embarrassing encounter with Landon.”

Wow, Landon fudged up that whole thing. He could have had her way sooner than he realized and bumped her off like she was nothing. Then again, middle school years suck in general with the whole puberty thing.

“But don’t you find Landon sexy?” I whispered. Theon’s head popped up from a deep conversation, eyes glaring at me. Dang, can they hear that far?

“Yeah, but a guy like that doesn’t go for someone as plain as me.” Stacy played with the whisps of her short blonde hair. “Look at him, he’s got the strong, possessive silent-type vibe, and I’m all over the place. Not to mention I’ve got a high s*x drive; he hasn’t even had a date or done anything with any girls..”

“You haven’t either, Stace,” I argued. Stacy totally had her V-card. She was a make-out w***e, but her v****a was clean.

“S-so. I just know I will when the time comes I’ll be freaky,” throwing back her non-existent long hair, I laughed at her. Stacy was such a peach; I cared for her a lot. I’m glad I got one friend out of all this.

“If you had the chance,” my finger swirled the table, drawing an invisible circle. “Would you have Elijah or Landon?” Stacy’s shoulder’s slumped.

“I-I don’t know.”

“AH-HA! You still have feelings for him,” I pointed.

“Shh! Stop that; people are staring.” Several eyes from the nearby tables looked, but I didn’t care. Stacy still had the hots for Landon, and now I needed to light a fire under his a*s to get them together.

“What if we..” a hand slaps the table. Both of us jumped with a yip and saw Theon hovering over us. “Dinner is about to start, ladies; how about we continue your conversation later?”

I plumped up my breasts with my arms crossing over my body. “But we aren’t finished, Thumper, just a few more minutes?” Leaning in, I pet his fingers with mine. The sparks tingled while Theon visibly relaxed.

“Not going to work, sweetheart, you are in a lot of trouble.” Trouble? What kind of trouble? Grunting, I get up and follow him back to the head table, where we were to sit as guests of honor.

“There’s the trouble maker,” Thaddeus pulled me to his lap so I could sit down. Alpha Big Paw was holding their newborn, who was swaddled tightly up against his chest. Alpha was just a big teddy bear holding the tiny, tiny person before him.

Lenhi leaned on his shoulder, watching their baby-making gurgling sounds, the tiny bubbles causing little baby milk bubbles to form on his lips. Absolutely adorable. Catching myself staring, I looked back down at the table, rubbing both of my mate’s hands.

“Would you like to hold him?” Lenhi’s voice directed to me. Did I want to hold him? I broke into tears when I had the baby last time; I’m not sure if I could handle it. Lehi’s eyes squinted while picking up the baby and bringing it to me.

“You overthink, little fire,” patting my shoulder, she sat down in Alpha Bit Paw’s lap, who held her tightly. The baby’s eyes were closed, and fell asleep quickly while I rocked it back and forth.

“You’re a natural,” Lenhi spoke softly. Silently I begged her not to say anymore, and luckily she didn’t. I don’t know if I could handle anyone telling me I would be a good mother. I know I would be, I’d be the best mom, but it wasn’t in the cards for me. I know this; it was better to not get my hopes up and pray that the 1% chance of it ever happening does come.

I can’t get my hopes up; I can’t.

“What’s his name?” I traced my finger along his cheek.

“We are announcing it tonight when the full moon is high in the sky.” Lenhi patted Big Paw’s cheek. “It’s tradition for his people.” Theon put his finger next to the baby’s hand; it immediately grabbed it and hugged it close to the little mouth. My heart squeezed at the sight.

Nothing was sexier than a big alpha man holding a tiny baby, showing affection to something so small that can give nothing in return. “Theon, there is something I should tell you,” my whisper was raspy while I petted the little one’s thick hair. Theon shook his head, kissing my temple.

“It’s alright; we can adopt a pup if you want to.” My eyes lit up; I guess the boys communicate with each other well. “There are a lot of opportunities to take one in. Only if you want to,” Theon’s nose rubbed my cheek.

My hormones got the best of me, and a tear trickled down my cheek. “I would like that,” I choked. “I would really like that.” Sniffing, Thaddeus and Theon rubbed my arms, thighs anything that was free of clothing so I could feel the warmth of their bodies. For not having a girlfriend before, they knew how to show affection.

Reluctantly handing the baby back to his parents, two warriors burst into the crowded dining hall. Alpha Big Paw Stood up abruptly, racing towards the two wolves. Their breathing was ragged, coughing and spitting up b***d.

That could not possibly be normal. Clutching Thaddeus, Theon ran to the opened doors. Despite all the children and babies being held to their parent’s chests, the room was utterly silent.

The wolves frantically moved their hands around, but their lips were silent. Sensing my confusion, Thaddeus whispered, “wolves can speak to each other through their minds. I’ll explain later.”

Alright then.

Thaddeus’ hair on his arms stood up, his back straightened. Theon looked back and motioned Thaddeus to come forward.

A loud bang resonated outside before I was placed delicately on the chair. Alpha Big Paw stepped forward and roared. “Everyone in the dining room bunker NOW!”
