Her Forever

(Book 5)- Chapter 15

Theon’s POV

Trinity cried in our arms until she fell asleep. Really, who could blame her? We told her we were damn werewolves, and that threw her world upside down. Her mother taught her there were no monsters under the bed, and we just showed her that it was all a lie. Except for this time, the monsters would be in bed…

Once her sobs diminished, she went limp in my arms; we put her to bed. Little sniffs came from her tiny nose, and her body immediately curled around Thaddeus while letting out a heavy sigh.

“See, I told you that she would be alright,” Thaddeus whispered as he petted her hair. I scoffed while I grabbed a warm washcloth to wipe away her makeup. Trinity didn’t need it; her eyes were beautiful, like two summer willow trees blowing in the tall grasses of the Felician Meadows in Bergarian. The fiery red hair was that of the sunrise; all that was missing were the purples and blues that came along with it during the change of seasons.

Trinity might have thought we were done telling her about our kind, but we were far from it. We had yet to tell her we were princes, lived in another realm, and we had come to take her back with us.

Unfortunately, we added a side quest to find out who sent out the new silver smoke explosives. That would be bad if the type of weaponry ended up in Bergarian.

Once her face was clean, I came up behind her and pulled her a bit closer to me. Thaddeus had already possessively had his hand cupping her face, already asleep without a care in the world. Thaddeus certainly lived in the moment while I planned for the next day.

She was leaving or wanted to leave. What do we tell her we were going to take her to a pack of wolves? This would be the first step to show her our world on a smaller scale. Burying my nose into her hair, I took a long deep breath. Thaddeus was right; it would work out.

The goddess had blessed us with a mate, and we found ours so much quicker than our father. I couldn’t imagine having to wait one hundred and twenty-some years.

We had her; we had Trinity now. The major hurdle we had jumped through and succeeded. We just had to convince her that we were here to stay and there would be no strangeness between my brother and me being in love with her.

Trinity and Thaddeus’ breaths evened out, and so did mine. I let their soothing snores help me fall into my own slumber.

BANG BANG BANG

I g*****d as I slung my arm over my eyes. The room was bright, meaning we had slept in late. Trinity always woke up at the crack of dawn to make herself coffee and drag us all the way to that book shop. The extra alcohol and life-altering information didn’t help her weary mind either.

The door continued to bang while Trinity g*****d in response. Her hair covered her face, nuzzled up against my side. During the night, she had switched positions, and my body pulled her into my embrace. Taking my hand, I slapped Thaddeus, who was spooned up against our mate.

“Thaddeus!” I whispered. He stirred until I tapped him on the cheek. Trinity nuzzled into me further. I wasn’t about to get up to answer the damn door. Thaddeus rolled over and huffed. The door banged six times again repeatedly until Thaddeus got up.

“Fine,” he grumbled. “Whoever it is, I’m going to kill them,” Thaddeus’ loud footsteps echoed through the bedroom while I held Trinity tighter. Her response was a gentle humming noise that made me purr continuously. “So warm,” she whispered. Clearly, she wasn’t awake, and I prayed to the gods she wouldn’t wake anytime soon.

“s**t!” Thaddeus ran back into the room, both hands on either side of the door frame. “We gotta go, Theon. Get her up and grab her clothes.” Confused, I felt the urgency through our brotherly bond and shook Trinity awake gently.

“No,” she whined and hugged me tighter. Ugh, I didn’t want to move.

“What is the big deal?” I whispered harshly. Thaddeus ran to the other side of the room, pulling clothes out of our bags and throwing on a pair of jeans.

“Bears, werebears. They are coming this way, about fifteen of them. Josiah didn’t like the scene at the bar last night and got a bunch of his buddies to come out here. That was Landon at the door warning us.” I pulled Trinity off me, and her face landed with a soft ‘umph’ on the pillow. Her face jerked up, and she threw her hair back.

“What’s going on?” her morning voice was low, and it went straight to my morning wood. Damn, she was so sexy with that raspy voice.

“We need to get dressed, babe. Quick.” Not wanting to alarm her, I pulled her out of bed and got her clothes she had laid herself out to travel in, and pushed her to the bathroom. “Fast, fast, we need to leave!”

Shutting the door, I ran outside, Landon and his two friends flanking him. “They are about five minutes out. This is neutral ground, and we can’t start a fight. We should run since you have your mate.”

Thaddeus and I could take out ten bears on our own, but with Trinity with us, protecting her and getting her to safety was a priority. No one would be able to watch her if Josiah decided to try and take her.

Trinity stumbled out of the cabin, holding on to some of her belongings, dazed. “What is going on?” Landon started growling to the south; an enormous pounding on the Earth could be felt underfoot.

“Let’s go, Trinity,” Thaddeus grabbed her by the biceps and pushed her in the back seat. Buckling her in, her eyes grew wide.

“What the hell is going on? You guys can’t do this!” Thaddus hopped in the back with her while I got in the driver’s side. “We will explain in a minute; just listen to us, alright?”

“No!” She yelled. “I need to know now! I don’t completely trust you yet, and why the heck were you in my bed last night?”

“Babe, I need you to calm down,” Thaddeus tried to soothe. Fire in her eyes, she whipped her hair so fast I swear she almost knocked the wind out of Thaddeus. “You dare tell a woman to calm down?!”

“s**t, not now!” I growled and threw the SUV in reverse. The tires spun out on the rocks as I saw one large black bear try to jump on the hood of the vehicle.

Trinity squealed, pulling on Thaddeus’ arm. “That bear is huge! Why did it attack the car?” Thaddeus growled as another bear pushed the side of the door.

“Damnit, it’s Josiah.” Lips curled up, and the mighty teeth were shown to scare us, but all it did was provoke. If Trinity wasn’t here, I’d kill him on the spot. He had deliberately started a war on the royals.

Gunning it forward, we headed to a small outer road with Landon leading the way. The back road to the Red Moon Pack was covered over in branches and overgrown shrubs. Trinity was looking all around, watching the bears try to keep up with us. Bears were mighty, mean beasts, but they didn’t have the range of motion and the speed a wolf did. With the right amount of practice and our alpha wolf status, we could easily take them on.

“Why are they chasing us?” Trinity panicked. “And that is Josiah? He’s a bear?!” Her voice cracked as limbs hit the car. Landon and the wolves accompanying him flanked the car; howls were ripping through the air; the vehicle jumped over potholes and small limbs on the road.

“f**k, f**k, f**k,” I gritted my teeth. Trinity was on Thaddeus’ lap now, sitting in the middle, away from the windows. Bears were nipping and biting, leaving trails of saliva on the side.

Trinity was wrestling with Thaddeus while he tried to hold her still. “Trinity, what are you doing?” Thaddeus grunted as she pulled out her Glock.

“Going to shoot s**t up! Roll down the window!”

“Don’t you dare, Thaddeus roared at me, but the damn bear cracked the rear passenger side window before I could roll it down myself. The grizzly hung onto the window while Trinity c****d her gun and shot it right between the eyes.

“Badass,” Thaddeus purred. Rolling my eyes, I continued to push the gas to the limit. “Won’t keep them down for long, babe, not unless you have some silver bullets.” Trinity huffed while she fired off another shot, grazing the ear of a brown bear.

“Then I’ll shoot, so it hurts,” she gritted her teeth.

“Speed up; if they get in the front of the car, we’re screwed!” Thaddeus yelled, holding Trinity’s head down.

Trying to run a bear over at 60 mph on a dirt road in the middle of nowhere was terrible news. It wouldn’t kill the werebear, but the car would be totaled, and a possibility of our mate to get hurt. Especially since Trinity wanted to hang from the window and fire off shots.

Flooring it, we hit 80, the bears were slowing down. I was impressed they kept up for this long.. more wolves began to flank the car, all from the Red Moon pack.

A howling signal, letting me know we were close to the territory, broke the sweat from my forehead. Never in my life had my body reacted so fiercely to the adrenaline. I couldn’t fight; relying on a human car to get my mate away was downright depressing, but we made it. Our own mate kept the bears at bay while we focused on the escape.

Not slowing down, we came up to the clearing, several warriors stood naked on the territory line. They continued to wave us forward, knowing of the danger behind us. We crossed the border, and lines wolves shifted mid-jump into the mess. Bears were trying to cross.

Wolves outnumbered the bears two to one; the bears would be defeated easily if these warriors were trained correctly. Trinity started outside the back window; not a sound or whisper dripped from her mouth while she slumped back in the seat.

“That was a bit much,” Trinity panted. Her hand was firmly gripped on Thaddeus’ arm, almost pulling his hair out. Trinity stayed silent until the vehicle came to a stop in the middle of the territory. The Red Moon pack stayed a good ten miles from the town, in the middle of nowhere, and it seems that they don’t use their dirt road very much to keep things well hidden.

Throwing the car in park, I go around to help Trinity out, who continues to stare out the front window. Thaddeus tugs on her arm, to which she pulls back and takes a heavy breath.

“I need a minute, please,” she begged without taking her eyes off the house. Thaddus and I stayed right outside the door, ensuring she didn’t bolt out the other side door and run away from us.

“You guys sure know how to stir up trouble; your dad was right,” Big Paw slapped me on the back as his heavily pregnant wife rubbed her belly. “We haven’t had trouble with the bears in well over ten years, and you guys haven’t been here a week, and you already got them prodding at the beehive.”

“Your mother already contacted us again, asking if we had heard from you two.” I chuckled as I stuck my hand with his in an enormous handshake. I rolled my eyes, mom could be like that. She could be so overbearing it was insufferable.

“Thanks for dealing with her Big Paw,” Thaddeus spoke up. “We’ll contact her tonight.”

“Is this her?” Big Paw stepped closer to the vehicle, but Thaddeus growled. We were going to have territorial issues with Trinity until we mated. It wasn’t like we could go mark a human so fast.

Big Paw backed up and laughed. “Right, right, if you are anything like your dad, I better warn the others. Your room is on the 4th floor; I hope you don’t mind.” Big Paw waved his hand as we went back to the group of wolves eyeing the situation.

“Trinity, babe, are you ready to come out?” Thaddeus sat back in the back seat with her and petted her hand. At least she wasn’t pulling away, yelling, screaming, or shooting us.

“In less than twenty-four hours, I have found out that there are werewolves and now werebears. What else could there possibly be? Vampires? Are there vampires?” Pursing my lips while I nodded and closed my eyes, she let out a breath. “More…things? Like I hear about in fairy tales?”

“Yes,” we sheepishly said. Tutting, she let Thaddeus intertwine their fingers as she glanced down at it.

“It is weird. I find you both comforting, even though my mind is screaming at me to run. Same when you were both wolves, I felt a bit connected,” she hummed for a minute shoved her Glock back at her side. “Is that part of the mate thing, to feel safe? Even though I really should NOT feel safe with bears running to eat me?”

“Yes, it is part of the bond, but the only animal that will be eating you will be us,” I gave her a half-smile while Thaddeus gave me a thumbs up.

For the first time since pulling into the graveled drive of the packhouse, her eyes glanced into ours. “One step at a time, boys,” she laughed.
