Her Forever

(Book 3)- Chapter 68

Orion’s POV

Seth led the charge as the witches ran deeper into the wood. The trees grew sparse as their trunks widened. I had mounted Asland as I continued to venture further inward. Annan was behind me while Fionn took his mate, Marsha, back to the palace.

Now that the threat had retreated from the area, he could fly her back safely. The bleeding had stopped for the moment, but her body was still pale. Marsha drifted in and out of consciousness as Fionn lifted her to his body. “Fionn, take her back and stay with her. The bond will help him heal.” Fionn gave a grateful nod and spread his wings to fly her back.

Seth headed the charge; the wolves howled in victory, which could be too soon for comfort. Their ways of torture and magic were almost unbearable. If you think the faes were tricky and sneaky creatures, just wait until you have a vengeful witch after your neck. They can singe your nerves, inflict their injury and bring your nerves back to life in a matter of seconds, so the pain hits you all at once.

Seth howled, his half wolf-human form scaring any remaining animals that were in the area. His black fur sprouted over his body, and his claws were thickened with b***d. Enormous teeth lengthened over his muscular jaw as he licked them, slowly savoring the taste of his enemies. As much as I have messed with him in our past encounters, he did scare the s**t out of me. I’ll never let him know that, though.

Sadie would never let harm come to me, she and I had a sibling-like bond, but Seth didn’t feel that way. He would rip my throat out in an instant the moment I would ever upset his mate.

The claws of the wolves penetrated the dirt, flying upwards as our horses strode alongside. Howls from the trackers and runners had found the source of the coven. As our horses arrived, we saw several warlocks run right into a brick fence that was six feet tall. It was overgrown with vines and thorns and dirt, and muck covered any scent of the magical wards that encompassed it.

“What now?” I heard one of the wolves. “Charge it?” Seth grunted as he walked closer to the wall. The wall had been there for many years, erected during the Shifter War to keep faes and shifters on their side of the land.

Seth took his claw, meaning to slice through the vines only to have his hand sucked into the ward. “It’s penetrable,” his wolf Caspian growled. “But this is too easy.” Several wolves growled as they pawed the ground, mouths still dripping with b***d from the previous battle.

As a group, we had taken down at least half of their own warriors; the question was how many were left inside. This could be a trap, and even numbers wouldn’t be able to save us.

“There aren’t that many,” Violet strode out with Alexo by her side. She had on just an oversized shirt over her body while Alexo sported his birthing attire. “There aren’t that many unethical witches, and the ones who were driven to power hid here. There may be 120 witches in total, but they are powerful.”

Alexo held onto Violet by her waist. Not wanting to let her go again. I didn’t blame him; he almost lost her. “You shouldn’t be back here Violet, we came to rescue you, and you now come back to join the fight?” Violet laughed while standing in front of Alexo so she could hide his growing e******n for her.

“I was a warrior in my pack, and now being mated to one of the strongest warriors of Alpha Seth’s pack, it was a no-brainer. I live for the fight,” she snarled. “Now, let’s kick some a*s so my sister can get hitched,” Seth growled in approval while I unsheathed my sword as I jumped from my horse.

“What are we getting into, Violet?” Violet stood in front of the supposed doorway, “once you enter, you will find yourself in their courtyard; it is built like a castle on the inside. Four walls surround the perimeter, the basement holds the potions and spellbooks. Prinna is usually situated down there, but it has the most protection spells in that area. You won’t be able to regenerate, don’t go down there if you can’t handle being wounded. Shots fatal to humans will be fatal to you.”

“Understood?” Seth growled as he licked his maw. Men and women shifted back into their wolves and growled in agreement. Seth, again, led the charge. We all burst into the courtyard that was swimming with witches and warlocks. Several held fireballs, ice streams, and some had electricity dancing on their fingers. The pure hatred in their eyes was daunting, but we never wavered.

Within seconds, hell broke loose as the wolves and my men battled. My men were encouraged to use their gifted powers, and it didn’t disappoint. Several faes had forcefields that glowed around their bodies, and no spell was able to touch them. Some had strength that matched an oger; several even spout out their own electricity from their chests. Swords swung, claws ripped into bare flesh as the witches and warlocks tried to maintain the fight.

My sword swung as a jolt of electricity flung at my back. Slitting the opponent’s throat in front of me, the witch behind took it as an opportunity to dig her nails in my back. Shaking my head and pushed myself off the ground causing the witch to fall backward as I lunged forward and impaled her with my sword. Not waiting to see if the light left her eyes, I pulled it out to head to the basement.

I was going to kill the queen of this operation; once the queen of this evil hive was destroyed, then all hope for the coven to revive itself later would be lost. Seth was howling, taking on three or four witches at a time. Their spells had no effect as he swiped at them once, causing them to fall to the floor.

Violet called for me at the corner of the courtyard. Rushing to her, I saw the dried b***d on her chest; Alexo wasn’t far keeping spells to be zapped our way from reaching us. “Down here,” she rushed. “Prinna is hiding there. She doesn’t think anyone will be able to get in, there is a ward hiding her smell, but I know she is there,” Violet panted. “That’s where she kept them,” she let out a whimper. “They are all gone, all the prisoners. Alexo won’t let me go down, but Alpha will join you in a moment.”

“Leave Violet, your job is done,” before she said another word, I rushed down the stairs, my hair flying about as the wind blew upwards. The stairs were dark, wet and the smell of mold tickled my nose. Drips of water hit the puddles as I quickly stomped through the mess.

The smell of urine, b***d, and feces became stronger as I passed by a few cells. Several pixies laid dead in the corner. I tightened my grip around the sword. They took all of the b***d their little bodies had. I would make Prinna suffer; I would drain her of her own b***d and let the dragon shifters eat her body.

As I rounded the corner, there was chanting. The loose locks of her hair covered her face as Prinna sat with her legs crossed around a pentagram circle on the floor. Candles surrounded her as a newborn fawn laid dead on one side of the ring and a live snake on the other. It hissed and coiled up as it saw me as I approached the lighted room.

My footsteps were light as I came forward. My tunic was ripped down the middle as my chest was shown bare to the light. I tried to will myself to absorb as much light the candles could give me. Her aura was dark, the darkest black and purples I had ever seen. This witch was a new type of evil; it almost surpassed the Rogue King Sadie had fought a few months ago.

Her melancholy laugh echoed through the basement walls. “Welcome, Fae King. Where is your little mate?” My fangs emerged as I held a tightened grip with both hands on my sword. “You know that little b***h ruined my damn plans, right?”

Prinna’s body lifted off the floor without moving her muscles; her body was limp as she floated closer to me. The long hair had her face completely covered as it hungover on the front of her chest. “I haven’t lost yet, Fae King; I still have my ways to getting what I want. I just will need to be less diplomatic,” I went to swing my sword, and it hovered over my head and held its place in the air. The more I tried to move my arms, the more pain I felt in my wrists.

My whole body was shaking as I now tried to move my legs; they were stuck to the floor, like a fly on sticky paper. Prinna laughed cruelly as she approached; her hair began to show the left side of her old face. Prinna was once said to be beautiful, but the black magic she used took her appearance. Black magic gave you the power, but it took something in return until its just dues were paid back.

“I’m this close,” her fingers showed a pinching motion. “This close to getting the b***d I need to make this coven unstoppable. While you bid your time hunting us down, I have my best warlocks finding your dragon in his lonely cave,” she cackled. “That had to be the easiest diversion I’ve ever imagined!”

This Bitch…

“So you would sacrifice half your coven for a diversion?” I spat.

“Of course, only a witch of my caliber would understand such sacrifices. Only the strong will be left, and once the dragon’s b***d has been obtained, I’ll fix my looks and take control of not only Bergarian but Earth as well.

Prinna’s rotten teeth gleamed in the low light as she continued her insults; I, on the other hand, was working on releasing something darker than she thought. Prinna used dark magic to expel her power, and with most faes being that of light, magic could cripple us instantly. I felt my darker power surge forth, wrapping around my light and storing it until I could use it once again. Feeling my aura change from a sunny yellow to a bright red, my wings blackened behind me. Prinna stopped laughing as she saw my brightened skin became tan as I twitched my fingers.

It took me time to switch over, I haven’t had the chance to enhance my skill, but I was faring better than anticipated. Prinna hiked her skirt as I was able to move one of my legs and took a dagger; being able to dodge at the last moment, she pushed the blade into my right shoulder. I howled out in pain, gripping the bloodied wound. Before I repositioned myself, she stabbed the other shoulder and pushed me to the ground.

“Impossible, you are a light fae!” Prinna sat above me as I struggled to complete my new form; I could feel the whites of my eyes grow dark, and hers began to widen. She pulled the knife from my arm as I began to wrestle her. Two shoulders maimed, and I was now the same physical strength as this witch. I began to push her off me, but the pressure she had on my chest became unbearable.

“Do you hear that?” She smirked as she held the knife at my throat. The wolves began howling, whimpering, and yipping. “That is the anti-healing surge. I completed it before you arrived, and it is now just kicking in. Your wolves will no longer regenerate while my coven can.

A shot of adrenaline-fueled my anger as I threw her off me. I had to destroy her on my own; I could no longer wait for Seth while he saved his own wolves. The dagger at my side brushed my thigh as I pulled it from its smaller sheath. Prinna’s nails elongated with black sludge dripping from them.

I felt my chest tighten as I took a knee. My body had almost completed itself, and the darkness was too much to bear. A nearby mirror showed black veins coming from my chest as it seeped through my neck. Prinna gritted her teeth as she began to lunge to my weakening form.

Holding my arm out for the brace of impact, her body stopped with the dagger still hanging in the air. She continued to push through, but to no avail did she wrestle the invisible barrier she was under.

“No,” she growled. “You can’t!”

“Fight fire with fire, huh, Prinna? The goddess thinks so.” I stood up to a standing position and concentrated on healing my wounds as she stood unmoving. Her body continued to try and twitch her way out, but she was trapped and wouldn’t leave this basement alive.

Grabbing my sword, I went to stab her through the gut, only for it to pause as it gently poked her black corset. “Ha, I have my own ways to protect myself. Your elven steel won’t touch me.”

Dust rained on us as I dropped my sword. A loud roar came from above; it was loud enough to lose a few bricks and rock in the basement. I knew that roar. I smirked back at Prinna, who was even more furious. The face was red as her wicked face contorted to pure loathing.

Screams were heard as I felt Horus land in the middle of the courtyard; witches were shouting spells instead of casting them through their minds, only making them stronger. The wolves’ claws were scratching the cobblestone as they ran out of the coven, no doubt hurt and trying to get away. Seth’s roar was heard, letting me know of their retreat.

Seth just doesn’t give up; it wasn’t in his nature. I bit my bottom l*p as I began to wonder what was going to happen.

Witches continued to yell and scream while Horus’ loud growl shook the ground. Feeling significant vibration and the heat that sunk into the basement, Horus blew out his fire. It reached halfway down the stairs, searing all the lost prisoners.

All was silent after the fire had receded until I heard a voice that was all too familiar.

“Come out, you dumb b***h, and give me my mate!”

She’s getting spanked for this.
