(Book 2)- Chapter 55
Rosalie
“This is so exciting, I need to take her to you right now!” I screamed. Looking at the clock it well past 11 and I pouted. Jack chuckled in the corner and Benjamin’s eyes were sparkling with anticipation to see his mate. “Wait,” I said. “We should wait until tomorrow.” Benjamin whined and ran his hands through his hair.
“I can’t wait, Lee, I’ve waited far too long. She’s there, right out there and I need her!” Benjamin growled and Jack pulled me back.
“Watch your growls, pup. Know who you are talking to,” Jack scolded as he held me tightly.
“I’m sorry Alpha,” Benjamin bowed his head. “I spoke out of turn.”
“It’s alright Benjamin, listen, she has had a rough couple of months. She is probably sleeping right now and barging into her house right now would scare everyone. How about we plan something special and make it romantic?” I internally squealed in excitement. Jack held onto his chest, probably feeling my overwhelming delight to help Benjamin.
“Fine,” Benjamin pouted. What should I do? Usually, you just smell your mate and claim her there, this is all new what you are trying to do, let me just grab her.” I looked in confusion at Jack and he nodded his head.
“It’s true, we are just a special case, Kitten. Once you find your mate you just automatically accept it and mark each other in a passionate affair.”
“Ughhh, no fun! Benjamin, can you at least bring her flowers when she comes to breakfast then? Something a little romantic?”
“Anything for my mate, if you think she would like it. I’m not going to sleep tonight, that is for sure.”
“Yay! Thank you! Once you know her story, you will understand. Go to the green house and pick the best roses and be ready at 7am for her. I’ll be down to watch and be the creepy friend!” I gave him a hug in support and he pecked the top of my head.
“You have your hands full, Alpha.” Benjamin shook his head and walked out the door. Jack came up to me and lifted me up while I squealed and threw me on the bed. I cuddled closer to him which caused him to let out a yawn.
“You know he is right, I do have my handful with you.” He pulled me up to his chest to sleep. “I know but you love me anyways,” I smiled into his big green eyes.
“That I do.”

The next morning I got to witness my very first mate meeting. It didn’t really count when Amanda met Tyson because I wasn’t really paying attention or knew what was going on. Everyone was seated in the main dining room and Benjamin had even dressed up in a button-down collared shirt, paired with dark jeans. I’ve never seen him so dressed up before I almost had to laugh. He was so nervous, he kept picking at one of the roses and he even took off every thorn to make sure his mate didn’t prick her finger. Dark circles were under his eyes, I didn’t take him seriously when he said he wouldn’t sleep.
The new family walked in and Lolli immediately had eyes directed to me and smiled. She looked so much more refreshed this morning as well as her siblings. Aria ran to me and engulfed me in a huge hug and I gave one in return, “how is my big girl?” Aria snuggled up to me and my heart just about burst.
“I’m fine, we all slept so good. I didn’t want to get up!” I laughed and Jack just looked at the both of us with love. Aria felt like the daughter I could have some day. Looking at Benjamin I gave him a little nod for him to come closer. Lolli was sitting across from us when her body stiffened and started to smell the air. Her brothers looked at each other and then at Lolli, realizing what was going to happen. Turning around, Lolli looked up at Benjamin who had the biggest grin on his face. He was studying her, looking at every feature her beautiful porcelain skin and red hair had to offer. His eyes full of love as he knelt down beside her, the dining room went silent watching the interaction.
Benjamin’s grip on the bouquet of roses was evident. He was trying to control himself from taking her into his embrace.
“Mate,” he whispered and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. I could concentrate and hear her heartbeat beating erratically. A few tears left her face as she touched Benjamin’s cheek. “Mate,” she whispered back and he pulled her from her seat, they were now standing and his nose was in her neck smelling her scent. A few tears went down my cheek at the sight before me while I held onto Jack’s hand.
Benjamin twirled her around and Lolli started laughing while other Wolves in the room started hooting, hollering and howling. Her siblings were smiling ear to ear while Aria stayed still in my lap. “Look Aria, looks like you have a new person in your family now.” Aria smiled and jumped off my lap and ran to her sister who took her in her arms too. Benjamin gave a chaste k**s to her forehead and looked back into Lolli’s eyes.
“Looks like we might need to watch the other kids while they mate huh?” I mentioned Jack in passing. He g*****d and I let out a soft giggle.
“We will get someone to watch them for a few days while they complete their bond, you don’t have to do everything, Kitten.” His hand went to my thigh. “The only pups I need you to watch are our own.” My face blushed as my eyes fell to my lap.
Kids? Pups? I guess I haven’t thought of it too much.
As the days progressed, Benjamin and Lolli became closer, they had yet to mate and mark each other, which Jack found odd. I didn’t think so, why would you drop your pants so quickly and mark each other? Having a spiritual bond would take time and they were with each other constantly. Only a bit more time of courting and I was sure that Benjamin and Lolli would complete the process. Then again, I don’t know all the traditions of Wolves.
I was in my security office, setting up the new camera software with the computers when Benjamin walked in. “Benji!” I smiled and gave him a hug. “You remembered me! I’ve missed you the past week. How are you and Lolli doing?” I turned around and sat back at my computer to continue the software update. Benjamin scratched behind his head and looked concerned.
“That’s what I wanted to talk to you about actually.”
My chair squeaked as I turned around. “Is something wrong?”
Benjamin nodded. “I feel like she is keeping something from me, but won’t tell me what. I don’t want to mate with her if she is hiding something. At first she said she wanted to wait and get to know each other, but now she said she was ready and now I’m not.” I patted the seat next to me and he sat down with a solemn look.
“Are you having mating jitters or do you honestly feel like she is hiding something?”
“There is something,” he paused, “off. Like when I mention you and how wonderful you are going to be the next Luna and you have really brought life back into the pack. Lolli just stares off and doesn’t say anything. She also won’t talk much in depth about her pack and what happened. Just the same spill over and over again and almost word for word.” Continuing to listen to him the feeling in my heart worsened. It wasn’t just Jack and I feeling off about Lolli, her own mate felt it too.
“Maybe Jack could talk to the twins. He is out training them today. I’ll mind-link for him to ask them. He can tell if they are lying or not better than I can.” Benjamin nodded and I rubbed his back. “We are going to figure this out, I promise. His eyes filled with hope and engulfed me in a large hug.
“I just want to love her, trust her.”
“You will.”
Benjamin left and I quickly mind-linked Jack. “Hey babe, can I ask you a favor?”
“Does it have something to do with me tying you to the bed?”
“No, but you can do that too!” I giggled. “No, I need to see if you can get any info out of the twins, like about their pack and how it was taken down. Lolli always speaks about it but not them. Benjamin is holding off mating because he feels Lolli is hiding something.”
“Ah, so he feels it too. Sure thing, Luna.”
“I love you, be safe.”
Feeling a burden lifted from my shoulders I head back to the security software. We also added heat sensing attachments to the cameras just in case any Witches wanted to come by and blast fireballs our way. It would honestly help if I just created our own brand of security cameras with all the add ons I was having to add. Heating sensors, video and what else would I need? Ha, maybe smell so we can tell what kind of Wolf or person was coming into the territory. That would be next to impossible to create.
Switching on one of the cameras I pull it up on the screen. For now, the camera is showing an empty forest spot and seems to be working correctly. Seven more cameras are turned on and I see a few Wolves running the perimeter. Once I hit the 15th camera, I saw something I had wished I never saw. Lolli standing on the border with none other than Anana. She was wearing a cloak to hide herself, but anyone could see that it was her––after all the few days I had to deal with her while she taught Derek the incantation of the branding iron, her face was permanently burned into my brain.
My breath hitched as she stared right into the camera and blasted it with a fireball from her hands. “Oh s**t!” I screamed.
Keith strutted in and looked at me weirdly. “Did the Luna just curse? What dimension did I just walk into?” Keith laughed and I gave him daggers with my eyes. “There is a border breach on the Northside, sector 3, it’s Anana and Lolli conversing. I want Lolli alive, but Anana can be killed on sight.” Keith’s eyes grew wide and nodded.
“I’ll notify Alpha and let people know to go to the safe rooms. Please head there now, Luna,” Keith spoke quickly before heading out the front door. I grabbed my phone so I could still communicate with all the cameras around the territory and yelled for everyone in the house to get to a safe room. It would have been so much easier if I could mind link.
Taking a few steps forward I felt a sharp crack in my leg. Looking down I saw my leg was bent at an odd position and I let out a b***d curdling scream. “Dear Goddess, what’s wrong?” Astrid jumped from the 3rd floor balcony and landed in the entryway of the pack house. “I don’t know,” I cried. “I was walking fine and then…” another crack sound came from my forearm. Tears were pooling in my eyes as I started to hyperventilate.
Astrid burst through the front doors. “s**t, she is changing, it isn’t a full moon yet! Have you spoken to your Wolf yet Rosalie?” My breathing had become ragged, I had not been told how painful this would be if I was really changing, I guess now I know.
“No, she just comes up to me and lets me pet her in my dreams but that’s it!” I screamed again as I heard my lower back break and I fell to the floor. Sweat started to bead on my face and my body jerked on its own accord and bent in odd positions. “She’s stressed and feels the pack in danger, her Wolf could come to the surface early, just like in normal Werewolves. We need to get her to the safe room now!” Astrid started to gently pick me up in a place that wasn’t broken and drag me slowly to a large picture that covered the floor from top to bottom. Before she could do anything, we heard screams from outside.
“s**t, take her Astrid, I’ll hold her off for as long as I can.” Amanda quickly shifted into her red Wolf and headed to the door until they were blown open and she was slung back into our direction. Amanda whimpered but got up quickly and covered both Astrid and I with her body. In defence stance, Amanda growled ferociously and covered my screams of agony. The dark figure walked into the room, a large trench coat with a hood covering the face of the intruder. You could feel the electricity popping in the air as they came in and walked down the few steps into the large foyer we were now standing in.
The hood dropped with a large gust of wind and Anana’s face appeared. Her eyes were sunken in, red as fire and hair black as night. She had officially become a rogue Witch, in no control of herself or her powers, the demon inside her engulfed every bit of her soul. Lolli was standing right behind her with her head down in shame and holding her body tightly. Anana smirked and held out a light fireball and looked at me directly.
“Hello, Rosalie.”
