Chapter 7
Layla's pov
"Leave!"
"I am only trying to help."
"Well you aren't. You are only making things worse," Adrian snapped. I laughed as Calvin pretended to be hurt as he put his hands over his heart.
We were currently in the kitchen, while Adrian was making me breakfast. Calvin said he would help, but from Adrian's face I could tell he has tried to 'help' before.
"I will literally make you breakfast if you get out," he said, still trying to get Calvin out of the kitchen.
He pouted but walked out the kitchen. As he walked out he winked at me and mouthed 'works every time.' I laughed and Adrian looked at me questionably before turning back to the food.
When the food got done, I quickly scarfed it down so I could get ready to go to the mall. I met Bella earlier. She is a really sweet girl, and I know that I will have no problem getting along with her. She reminds me of Charlotte so much.
After I finished eating, I went to the room to take a shower and get dressed. My outfit was really simple: a floral crop top and a denim skirt with gold heels. (Pic up top)
Just as I finished, Adrian walked in. "I have some things to do here, so Calvin, Daniel, and your brother will go with you for protection." Seeing that I was about to argue with him, he added, "Protection only. They will stay out your way, and you probably won't even know that they are there."
After thinking about it, I nodded my head. "Fine, I guess that is reasonable."
"Thought so," he said wrapping his arms around me. "You look gorgeous by the way."
I blushed and mumbled a thank you. Adrian kissed me and just when I was about to kiss him back, I was wrapped away from him.
"We don't have time for that," said Bella, who had a hold of my hand and was dragging me out the door. I gave Adrian an apologetic smile before the door shut behind us.
With Bella leading the way, we hurried outside and got in the car. On the way I told her about Charlotte and Will. She said that she was ready to have some girls she could talk to.
It took some time, but we were finally at my old apartment building. I texted Char that we were here, and not five minutes later, she and Will were walking down the steps hand in hand. I jumped out the car and ran to them.
"Bestie!" Char yelled, running towards me. We caught each other just like in the movies, and that is how we stayed for a minute. As Will caught up to where we were, I pulled away from my one best friend and turned to the other one. I hugged him and then stepped away from them also.
"I have a surprise for both of you." After saying that I opened the door of the car and Liam stepped out. They both gasped at first, but then attacked him by throwing their arms around him. All three were crying, and I couldn't but let a few tears slip also.
"Ok enough with this emotional stuff. Let's get shopping!" Bella squealed. With that we all hopped in the car and headed to the mall.

The trip to the mall was filled with laughter as friends were made and reacquainted. I mostly listened but sometimes jumped into the conversation. Bella and Charlotte really got along well which I was glad for. It would have been really awkward if they didn't.
We reached the mall about fifteen minutes later and everyone got out. Everyone decided Bella, Charlotte, and I would got shopping together, with Calvin and Daniel following of course, while Liam and Will went shopping together. They apparently wanted to have a little guy time, so why not have girl time.
Two hours later, and we have only been to like fifteen stores. They have been very thorough while searching through the racks of clothing for something they like, and to be honest I understand why a lot of people hate shopping, but the others obvioisly didn't share my feeling. Char and Bell were still bursting with energy while I just wanted to lay down on one of the many benches outside the store that I have looked at longingly.
"You have to try this on, L," Charlotte squealed throwing me a dress. I groaned but went into the changing room.
When I put the dress on, I was amazed. It was a beautiful light blue with a beaded neckline and waist. I absolutely loved it. I walked out the dressing room as Liam and Will walked in.
"Hey, guys we are hungry so how about we......" Liam stopped as he looked at me.
"How does it look?" I asked hesitantly.
"You look so beautiful. My baby sis is growing up," he said wrapping his arms around me.
"OMG! You look amazing in that. You should get it." Bella said walking towards us with Charlotte following behind.
"I think I am," I said looking down at the dress. "Let me get changed, and then we can go to the food court." After I was back in my clothes and paid for the dress, we walked to the door court, and ordered our food.
As we were waiting, I started to feel really anxious for some reason. I felt like something bad was going to happen and I started to freak out. I told the girls I was going to the restroom and left them.
I went straight to the sink and splashed water on my face, but the feeling never went away. Figuring I was just being paranoid, I dried my face and left the bathroom. I was walking to where our table was when I was grabbed from behind and something cold was pressed against my head. I heard a gun go off behind me and everyone got on the ground and looked over to where we were.
"Everyone give me your cash and anything else that is valuable, or I will kill her." The man that said that pressed the gun harder against my head, and I winced. I met Liam's eyes, and he looked at me in horror. The man who shot the gun earlier placed a bucket in front of me and told everyone to put their stuff in there.
Everyone came up one by one and place any money or jewelry that had in the bucket, while looking at me with sympathy. When it was my brother's turn, he slowly took off his watch. I could tell he was pretending to have trouble with it.
"Hurry up, we don't have time for this," one if the men said.
"S-sorry, it w-won't come off," Liam stuttered.
"Well figure it out, or I will shoot her." A tear fell down my face as I heard the gun click. When Liam paused, I was pushed to the ground.
A scream was wrenched from my lungs as I landed on my elbow and the skin split. I looked up and stared into the barrel of the gun. I closed my eyes and waited for my life to end.
Adrian's pov
When I got the call that some human had Layla at gunpoint, I ran as fast as I could. I would have taken a car, but I knew this way would be faster.
When I got to the mall, I immediately saw her. I watched as a tear fell from her eye, and as much as I wanted to kill the guy holding my mate, I knew it was too risky while the gun was pressed against her head. I knew Liam figured out I was here because he was stalling for me.
When the guy pushed Layla down I saw my chance and ran towards her. Just as I reached them, I saw her eyes close while tears streamed down her face. That made me even angrier, and all I saw was red.
The next thing I became aware of was Layla calling my name. I looked down, and was somehow unsurprised to see the guy that had Layla was beaten to a pulp. I got off the man, and went to where my mate was sitting.
I expected her to push me away in disgust or horror, but she did neither. As soon as I walked up to her, she fell into my arms and started sobbing. I held her tight as she cried, and whispered how much I moved her into her ear. After a while she started to calm down.
"Ready to go home, love?" She nodded her head, and as I went to grab her arm she flinched away. Looking down, I saw her arm was bloody. Upon closer inspection I realized that her elbow was split, and I clenched my fists.
As if sensing my anger, she grabbed my hand, and pulled me to the car that had just arrived for us. While in the car, I gave her some of my blood and watched as she fell asleep in the passenger seat as I drove back to the castle.
