Her Chosen Love

Chapter 5

Layla's pov

I woke up to people whispering, and I hesitantly opened my eyes. I found Adrian's eyes fixated on the door, and when I followed his gaze, I saw my brother standing there. Not wanting to talk to him, I buried my face back into Adrian's chest before they noticed I was awake.

"I will let you talk to her when she wakes up. You need to give her time," I heard him say and I knew he was looking down at me. Next thing I know I hear the door shut and Adrian started rubbing my back. "You need to talk to him sooner or later. You know this, right?"

"Yeah," I sighed while getting up. He sat up with me and pulled me between his legs. I leaned against his chest and played with his hand that was currently drawing circles on my stomach. "Did you know?"

"About Liam? No. He refused to give us his last name. I guess he was protecting you." He out his chin on my head and hugged me tighter.

"Is it bad that I still feel angry?" Maybe he did have a good reason for leaving as he did.

"No, love. It is completely understandable. Don't feel bad. I hate it when you are sad."

I turned around so I was straddling him. I looked him in the eye and said the first words that popped into my brain. "I love you," I said smiling because I knew they were true.

Without wasting a second, he pulled me against him and crashed his lips onto mine. I gasped and he took that moment to slip his tongue inside. He groaned with satisfaction and I felt his hands drift down my sides until he was at my thighs.

With one pull I was under him and he was now on top. One hand supported his weight while his other one gently cupped my cheek. Just as I was about to run out of air, he pulled away but he didn't stop. He pressed kissed all the way down my neck. I moaned as I felt his teeth scrape across my collar bone. In that same spot he sucked on my skin probably forming a hickey, but at this point I didn't care.

Before we could get any further, a knock sounded on the door. He pulled away from me and let out a sound of frustration. I let out a breathy laugh and went to answer the door, but before I got there I was picked up and thrown on the bed. I let out a squeal and of course he laughed.

"I an not letting you answer the door like that." When he said this I looked down and saw I was only in one if his shirts. My eyes widened and I covered myself as Adrian opened the door.

"You better have a good reason for disturbing me," he growled and I giggled as I saw him wink at me.

"Ummm, th-there is a r-rebel situation that n-n-needs y-your assistance." The poor man was practically trembling and I couldn't help but feeling bad for him, but I have to admit. Adrian looked hot angry even though it was partially fake.

"Okay, I will be right there." He shut the door in the man's face and walked to his dresser, pulled out some clothes, and walked to the bathroom. I went to my bags and pulled out an outfit for myself.

Just as I had picked something out, Adrian walked out in a t-shirt that hugged his muscles and a dark pair of jeans. When I reached his face I saw him smirk and I knew I was caught checking him out. I blushed and looked down.

He lifted up my face and smiled down at me. "Feel free to look. It is yours anyway." I smiled and pecked his cheek. He pulled me to his chest and wrapped his arms around my waist. "I have to go, but I will send Daniel's sister, Isabella, to keep you company." I nodded and he kissed my forehead then walked out the door

I decided to take a shower to waste some time, so I quickly hopped in then cursed myself when I forgot to grab my shower stuff. Looks like Adrian will be happy again. I got out and got dressed then went into the bedroom. She still wasn't here, so I decided to look around and hopefully not get lost. I remembered the way to the stairs so I went there first.

I was on the last turn when I bumped into a solid wall, well a chest really, but dang it hurt. I looked up and my breath caught in my throat. Standing in front of me was the guy that attacked me a few days ago.

"Look, I don't want any trouble. I promise I don't hold grudges so I won't retaliate for you trying to eat me." I knew I was rambling but I was just so nervous. Adrian wasn't around this time.

"Hey, I'm not going to hurt you," the guy said holding up his hands up in surrender.

I gave him the 'really' look, and he seemed to be thinking about something. "You said that I tried to eat you?" I nodded exasperated. I never knew there were dumb vampires. "I think you met my twin brother."

"Twin brother?" He nodded. 'Who's the dumb one now,' I heard my subconscious say. "Well, sorry for meeting like this. I'm Layla."

"Calvin, but you can call me Cal," he said shaking my outstretched hand. I smiled back and just before he was able to say anything, a voice I wasn't ready to hear again interrupted him.

"Layla, can I speak with you?" I nodded to Liam and said bye to Cal. I followed him to a random room and sat in one of the chairs that were in there. "I wanted to say that I am sorry for leaving you like that. I realize it was wrong now, but at the time I thought I was protecting you."

"Adrian helped me understand why you did it, but why couldn't you leave a note or something. When you disappeared it hurt that I was never able to say goodbye," I said tears pouring down my face.

He looked down. "I thought it was better if you thought me dead then alive but never being able to see me."

"I understand, and I forgive you," I wiped my tears away and hugged him. He automatically wrapped his arms around me and I took pleasure in having my brother again.

Adrian's pov

I didn't want to be away from Layla today, but I knew I didn't have a choice in the matter. Some things had to be seen to by me personally and this was unfortunately one of them. I was almost there when my phone rang.

"Hello?"

"Adrian, I can't find her. She wasn't in the room." I heard Bella's panicked voice say.

"What do you mean she is not in the room?" I immediately started worrying.

"I mean exactly what I said. She is not in the room."

''Lock down the castle. I want her found right now," I growled into the phone then hung up.

Next I called in Daniel to deal with the rebel while I looked for Layla. I trusted him not to let me down. In minutes I was back at the castle and yelling for her. My heart was beating fast and I only prayed that I find her.
