Hearts On Fire

Chapter 5:

In the woods that night

Thorne: “Feeling any better?”

Azar: “No.”

Thorne: “Your eyes are still fucking red.”

Azar: “I'm sorry I hurt you but how many times did I tell you not to get close to me like that when I'm like that?”

Thorne: “It's nothing. I'm already fully healed.”

Azar: “But why did you try to grab me? You know better than that.”

Thorne: “I couldn't help myself. My mate was there.”

Azar: “Your mate? You found her? Where is she now?”

Thorne: “It's complicated.”

Azar: “What's complicated?”

Thorne: “My mate is your mate’s best friend.”

Azar: “So you were right all these years.”

Thorne: “Like always. Did you notice something weird about your mate?”

Azar: “Don't mention her to me.”

Thorne: “Easy. You got me so scared that you'll hurt her. I've never seen you like that.”

Azar: “What would you do if the first time you see your mate while she's seducing other men?! Exactly!!”

Thorne: “What happened with the two of you anyway when you were alone? I saw her running out from the flames. She wasn't hurt at all.”

Azar: “Apart from her laughing at me when I told her I was her mate and telling me I'm a crazy, stupid wolf…nothing major. But thank god, somehow my fire doesn't affect her.”

Thorne: “But we have never met anyone that isn't affected by your fire. Wait…she left when you told her that you two were mates? She doesn't feel the bond?”

Azar: “Stop reminding me and no. Either she didn't feel it or she doesn't wanna feel it.”

Thorne: “How is that possible? I'm telling you something’s off. Her scent was weird too.”

Azar: “What do you mean? She smells like heaven.”

Thorne: “Listen…I don't think she's…”

Azar: “I said I don't wanna talk about her.”

Thorne: “Maybe we should go talk to your parents and ask for some advice.”

Azar: “No!! Look at the state that I'm still in.”

Thorne: “You're right.”

Azar: “I don't even know her name.”

Thorne: “Amaya.”

In Azar’s head: Amaya…

Azar: “I really need to be alone right now.”

Thorne: “Okay. We’ll figure this out, I'm sure of it.”

Azar: “Once I calm down. If I manage to calm down at all.”

Thorne: “Okay. (later that night in the woods raining)”

In Azar’s head: Amaya…how perfect. No other name in this world would fit better than hers. Looks like she's the only one that can soothe my fire but her name also means the end. Which one of those will she be for me? What's going on? Why didn't she realize that I'm her mate? But she's my mate. She's mine.

Blaise: “We will claim her.”

In Azar’s head: Of course we will. I don't know what's wrong with her but one thing is for sure I won’t give up. She's my other half and I won't stop fighting for her. We're made for each other. (Amaya’s room)

Miranda: “Would you please calm down? I need you to tell me what happened.”

Amaya: “What happened?! How could you even ask me that?! You've seen it all. That awful wolf thinks I'm his mate and what on earth is he even? You saw how he said everything on fire.”

Miranda: “I have. At first I thought you might be a hellhound but he doesn't have red hair, only red eyes.”

Amaya: “A hellhound?!”

Miranda: “Please calm down, I'm sure we're safe here.”

Amaya: “Safe around a hellhound?!”

Miranda: “I'm telling you I don't think he's a hellhound. My mate doesn’t seem that bad.”

Amaya: “I can't believe I ruined the moment of finding a mate for you. You should’ve just let me go and stay with him.”

Miranda: “I would never leave you alone. Plus everything is such a mess. We need to somehow sort out your situation first.”

Amaya: “He's crazy…delusional even. Did you not hear when I said that he thinks I'm his mate?! I'm not his mate!! I'm fucking human. We don't have mates.”

Miranda: “Your parents and brother are wolves. Maybe you do have a mate after all.”

Amaya: “No. He’s got it all wrong.”

Miranda: “Bub…wolves can't get it wrong. We recognize our mate by scent immediately and we instantly feel our bond. It's strange. You feel like you've known that person your whole life and you finally feel complete. Like you've found the last piece of your puzzle.”

Amaya: “He's wrong. I don't know what he felt but I didn't feel anything. Nothing.”

Miranda: “Are you sure about that? Because you most certainly don't act like it.”

Amaya: “I know what I'm talking about. I'm sure.”

Miranda: “Keep telling yourself that but you're already acting strange and how would you explain to me how you were able to walk through that fire as if it was nothing? You see…you don't even know the answer to that question.”

Amaya: “One thing I know for sure…I'm not going anywhere near him ever again.”

Miranda: “We need answers and think of your safety. You've seen how powerful he is. Maybe he's the only person that can protect you.”

Amaya: “Why don't you understand what I'm telling you?! I'm never gonna be with a wolf and do you know what it means if he's a hellhound?! Or anything similar?! Because he for sure has the powers of a hellhound.”

Miranda: “I know.”

Amaya: “Do you think it's them?”

Miranda: “I don't know. Looks like it.”

Amaya: “How the fuck did we end up here then?!”

Miranda: “Fate.”

Amaya: “What if they find out?!”

Miranda: “I don't know.”

Amaya: “We need to leave.”

Miranda: “Where would we go?”

Amaya: “I don't have a clue.”

Miranda: “Are you okay?”

Amaya: “I am. I just feel weird.”

Miranda: “Please lay down. (Amaya faints)”

Miranda: “Amaya?! Amaya!!”
