Hearts On Fire

Amaya: “AZAR!!”

Azar: “What is it? Your eyes!!”

Amaya: “I don’t know what’s going on.”

Azar: “How are you feeling?”

Amaya: “I feel fine, I think. I felt the baby kick and then wanted to do some makeup to get ready for that appointment and then I saw them change colors. I watched them in the mirror as it was happening.”

Azar: “It happened when you took my power from me but what now?”

Amaya: “Azar, I’m afraid I did something to the baby.”

Azar: “What do you mean?”

Amaya: “Think about it. The puppy has your genes and it’s highly possible she or he inherited your fire. What if I took it? What if I siphoned the power from our own baby?”

Azar: “Please stop crying, doll. We’ll see the doctor now.”

Amaya: “What if I hurt our pup?”

Azar: “I’m sure you didn’t. Now calm down, you’re shaking. I don’t want you to stress yourself this much. We’ll figure it out. You said you’re feeling fine. There you go. Just breathe and relax. I beg you. Shh, it’s gonna be okay.”

In Azar’s head: I tried my best to stay calm and comfort her. She was getting pale and shaking with all her crying. To be honest, I was panicking too. I had no idea what this meant. The doctor said we had to be more cautious as time passes. We didn’t know how her body will react to the pregnancy as she’s a witch. She didn’t have powers, nor strength like wolves do. I was worried sick all the time. Thank God she didn’t mark me or she could feel all of my emotions. Amaya was brave all this time but now that this has happened, she just fell apart.

Amaya: “Please call someone, I need to know. I need to be sure that our baby is safe.”

Azar: “I hope you get dressed and we are going, okay?”

Amaya: “Okay.”

Azar: “Breathe. We don’t want you to faint. (in the living room). How are you feeling?”

Amaya: “I’m scared to death.”

Azar: “The doctor is waiting for us.”

Amaya: “This was supposed to be a happy day.”

Azar: “It is a happy day, you’ll see. (at the doctors)”

Danni: “I’ll be your doctor for today. I talked to doctor Mel and she said today something is out of the ordinary. I can see your eyes have changed. I believe I have an exact idea on what’s going on. Come with me. Let’s do the ultrasound. Alpha Azar, you can come in with us if you would like.”

Azar: “Of course I’m coming in. I’m not leaving her alone.”

Amaya: “Azar, please.”

Azar: “I’m sorry, doll. You know how short tempered I am.”

Amaya: “We are ready.”

Danni: “Follow me. Everything seems to be in perfect order. Oh my God!!”

Amaya: “What’s wrong?”

Azar: “Speak!! What’s going on with my mate and my pups?!”

Danni: “Everything’s good. There’s a surprise. Congratulations, you’re expecting twins.”

Amaya: “TWINS?!”

Danni: “Yes.”

Azar: “TWINS?! As in two puppies?!”

Danni: “Yes, two perfectly healthy babies. You can hear their heartbeats. We probably didn’t see it sooner as one is a bit smaller and she was hiding behind…”

Amaya: “She?!”

Azar: “A girl?!”

Danni: “Congratulations, you’re having a boy and a girl. See them for yourself.”

In Amaya’s head: As I stood up to take a look at my babies…twins, I can’t believe it and they’re both doing just fine. I couldn’t stop myself from tearing up but this time it’s tears of joy. They were so adorable.

In Azar’s head: I came to have a closer look and there they were. Our children. A boy and a girl. Everyone will get what they wanted. I watched tears falling down Amaya’s face. She looked at me all happy and proud. And I felt like my heart was gonna explode from happiness.

Danni: “There’s no doubt that these little ones will be powerful. This is why your eyes changed. They have alpha Azar’s genes and his power for sure and they decided to share it with you. Your babies are making you stronger. They know you need it in order for all three of you to be safe. Congratulations again. (in the garden)”

In Amaya’s head: After staring at our babies for a good hour, Azar and I decided to come home to tell the news to his family. Life keeps surprising me and we’re blessed with twins. I was scared this morning but it turned out to be the best news ever. Not only are they healthy but we got confirmation and everything will be okay. They’re strong and giving me power now so that I can keep them safe and deliver them in this world safely. I can see tears in Azar’s eyes and he can finally breathe again.

Azar: “I told you that nothing was wrong.”

Amaya: “Like you believed it. You were even more scared than I was.”

Azar: “It’s true, I won’t lie. I was livid.”

Amaya: “Do you believe it? Twins!!”

Azar: “With my powers.”

Amaya: “We really did make little flames. Now we have to think of the names.”

Azar: “I have a few in mind. Prepare yourself. The whole family will go crazy.”

Amaya: “Azar, come here. You need to feel this. They’re moving. I can feel their kicks.”

In Amaya’s head: Azar stood behind me and placed his hands on my belly. Both of us waiting for another one to move and it came, one after another. First like small flatters then strong kicks. It was like they knew we wanted to feel them and they were ready to assure us. They’re fine. They’re strong and powerful. Our flames will be okay. Azar had his protective attitude like always as his arms were wrapped around me. But always so gentle and the tears started again.

In Azar’s head: I couldn’t describe this feeling until I experienced it myself. I could feel their little kicks. How amazing is that? Twins…double joy. I was speechless. I could stay like this forever. Holding my pregnant mate and my arms. I couldn’t wait to meet them.

Azar: “Hey there, little ones. Mommy and daddy are so happy. Now be good, I can see how strong you are and I need you to be good for mommy. I didn’t even meet you yet and I love you so much. I’m so proud of you. You’re giving your mom your strength and powers. You know she needs it. You should see how she’s glowing. Doll? I didn’t have the chance to tell you how beautiful you are. And your red eyes…they suit you perfectly. As much as I love your natural eye color, this is even more perfect. (Amaya chuckles)”

Amaya: “Get used to it. Thanks to our puppies. They’re so good and how could you not love them? They’re everything. I can’t wait to see them running around the house.”

Azar: “Little devils. (Amaya laughs)”
