He Is Not Alone

Chapter 21

Diane and Director Comely agree on my surrender the following Monday at FBI headquarters at 11 am.

Once Comely hangs up with Diane, he makes one more phone call to the Special Weapons Team. He explains to the commander that Will has special abilities and that if he walks out of the building Monday morning, he is to be terminated. His next phone call is to the IT Department. He wants a live two-way video system set up in the lobby for Monday morning. Comely knows that Will can control him, but does not know that all Will needs is a live picture.

Diane, Amy, and Will arrive at the FBI Headquarters at 11 am. As Will suspected, there are dozens of armed FBI agents waiting for him. Diane steps up and demands that the Director be here to accept the surrender of Will as agreed. With that, the big TV screen lights up and Director Comely picture appears.

Will can sense that this is a live feed and is ready to do his magic.

“Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. Agents, please…”

As Comely begins to speak, Will takes control of the director’s mind and sets himself free.”

“Return to your offices. Mr. Smythe will not be required to surrender today. It has been determined that he was not involved in any way with the dealings that have occurred and is free to go.”

Diane, being a good lawyer, steps up and says “Director, I will require that statement in writing.”

“Yes, of course, you can expect it later today. One of our agents will hand deliver it. Will, we are sorry for the misunderstanding. Please do not hold it against the government or the fine men and women you have been dealing with. Good day.”

With that, the screen goes dead. Will and Amy hug and then Will hugs Diane. They walk out of the front doors, 15 minutes after 11 am.

Outside the FBI Building is a SWAT Vehicle with a sharpshooter on the roof. As Amy, Diane and Will exit the building the sniper takes aim at Will’s heart. He begins to squeeze the trigger.

At that same instant, Amy senses what is happening and steps in front of Will, just as the sniper fires. The .223 caliber round pierces Amy between the spine and right shoulder blade. As the sound reaches Will’s ears, Amy falls into his arms.

“Will, I love you,” Are Amy’s last words and she passes away.

Will loses all control. He sees the sniper taking aim and kills him. The sniper dies of a massive heart attack and rolls off the van. Next, the support agents also die in their tracks.

With a scream, Will holds Amy’s body and says you cannot die!

Emergency Medical Technicians were standing by on orders of the FBI Director. They are by Amy’s side within seconds of her being shot. Despite their best efforts, there is nothing they can do.

As they go to put a sheet over Amy, Will screams, “YOU WILL LIVE!”

Slowly Amy’s heart begins beating; she takes a breath and her eyes open. Will’s transformation is complete; he can control life and death.

The EMTs are in shock. Seconds ago, this woman was dead; now she is alive. They don’t understand what has happened.

Amy is taken to the hospital with Will and Diane by her side. At the hospital, the wound is examined, the bullet removed and she is bandaged up. None of the medical staff understand how she survived. All anyone knows is that Will had something to do with it. By the time Amy is released from the hospital, there are rumors of the Second Coming of Christ. Church attendance is up over 500 percent in just a couple of weeks.

FBI Director Comely is released from office and his replacement knows nothing of Will Smythe.

Diane Martin and her family also have been attending church. She tells everyone she meets that she has seen the Second Coming of Christ. Her life has been changed forever.

Unlike the media, churches and Diane Martin, Will Smythe does not believe he is the Second Coming of Christ. He is not sure yet, what he is. All he wants is for Amy to be his wife and to live a simple life.

Two weeks later, Amy and Will are married in a simple church ceremony at the First Baptist Church of Kissimmee, FL. Only a hand full of people are in attendance. The maid of honor is Fran Pickerelli and the best man is Lou Pickerelli.

Standing in the back of the church are 6 people that weren’t invited. Only Amy senses who they are. She turns to Will and says “Will, we are not alone!”
