Guns & Roses

Chapter 12

Dimitri

Sitting down on my chair, I shrugged off my coat jacket and loosened my tie. I just went back from the warehouse that was infiltrated. Turns out, the Mortellis did take something, Tatiana was right, it was a new recipe that Jay, our chemist, was working on.

But thankfully the complete recipe was handwritten in his notebook and that the soft copy in his computer was unfinished. After double checking the area and making sure everything’s secure, we all went back to the estate.

My phone started ringing and I saw the number of the security room flashed on it.

“What’s wrong?”

“Boss, we have sighting of the two, should I connect it to your computer sir?” the man said from the other line.

“Alright, please do” I replied. I asked the security room and tech guys to keep an eye on the two, ever since I saw the both of them together, I knew something was going on.

I asked the twins to dig deeper about the two and they indeed had a past. They were both from the same agency from which they are hiding from now. I opened my computer and watched the surveillance video.

Pouring myself another glass of whiskey, I replayed the footage for the second time. Downing my glass in one shot, I slammed the cup on the table, shattering the glass as bits and pieces were stuck on my hand.

From what I can understand, they were both part of the same team that tried to take down Arturo in San Pablo three years ago. I knew of that incident because that was the first time Arturo almost lost. But of course the bastard was hard to kill.

I adjusted the volume and listened in on their conversation. I focused on Tatiana’s every reaction and she seems so conflicted that it infuriates me that she has feelings for another man.

But what angered me the most was when it became crystal clear that they were more than just friends, they shared an intimate relationship. And the idea of Tatiana’s body on another man was enough for me to see red. And when Anton leaned down to kiss her forcefully, I closed the laptop shut and called for the men stationed outside.

“Get me Anton, NOW” I ordered.

The man bowed and went his way to fetch the bastard. When I want something, I get it. Even if it means eliminating threat and right now, Anton was on the top of my list. Tatiana is mine. And he better back down or he will have to deal with me.

As I waited impatiently, I stared at my bloody hand welcoming the pain. I had a game plan, and Tatiana was the perfect fit to the puzzle, but my conviction to carry it out was wavering day by day as I get to know her. She was perfect, but my feelings for her are getting in the way of things.

Feelings. I don’t even know what feelings I had for her. Lust was definitely there, no doubt about that. She was gorgeous and hot as fuck, but I couldn’t shake the feeling of wanting more than just sex.

I heard a knock on the door followed by the men I ordered earlier and Anton.

“He’s here Boss” the man said bowing before leaving the office.

“You asked for me Dimitri?” Anton asked warily, walking towards my desk.

The scene of him kissing Tatiana played out in my mind again as my hands balled into fists. I tried to remain calm but when it came to Tatiana, I just don’t give a damn anymore.

“I need you to stay the fuck away from Tatiana” I said staring right in his eyes, my voice full of venom.

My statement took Anton by surprise seeing as his stance became rigid. But his whole demeanor changed in an instant, replaced by defensiveness.

“So what? So you could use her like some sort of disposable commodity?! You can’t use her like that Dimitri! You know the second Arturo finds out she’s a spy she’ll be dead right that second” Anton contended.

“Watch your mouth Anton! You’re walking on thin ice here, you’re not the boss around here so you don’t make the decisions, I do”

Anton clenched his jaws in annoyance but he was smart enough not to cross with me. It enrages me that he was right. Tatiana was recruited because she was just a commodity who fit the plan perfectly. But that was before I met her, before I got completely enamored by her.

“I know that! but-” Anton said but I cut him off.

“You know what is at stake here Anton, I recruited you because you were good but more so because we both know that the agency is looking for you. But one wrong move... and I won’t give two shits about what will happen to you” I seethed.

Like Tatiana, Anton was going under the radar, when I recruited him, he took the first opportunity he got his hands on. If the rumors were true, if an agent goes rogue, the agency tends to eliminate them which goes to show they aren’t as ‘good’ as they seem to portray.

“Don’t talk to Tatiana, don’t go near her, hell, don’t even look at her. One mistake Anton, don’t get on my bad side anymore” I threatened.

“Understood” Anton answered reluctantly looking away.

“Remember what I just said, dismissed” I said as Anton walked out of the office.

I called for one of the guards and asked them to get someone to clean my desk up. There were still broken glass from my earlier outburst.

Standing up from my chair, I went to the bathroom to clean my wounded hand. I wrapped gauze around it and went to the closet to find my work-out clothes. I needed to release this pent up anger or else I might literally end up killing someone. Jealousy was a son of a bitch.

I made my way towards my personal gym and started working on the punching bag even with a wounded hand. As I left punch after punch, my thoughts lead me back to a certain doe-eyed beauty. I don’t know why I find her so irresistible, but beyond her external beauty I see a strong confident woman. And confidence was sexy.

She turned heads and just like how my men was in awe with her, she had me wrapped completely around her fingers, and just like I was hers, I will make her mine.

It was no wonder Anton was in love with her, although, if he indeed loved Tatiana like he claimed he did in the video, he wouldn’t have easily surrendered to my threat. When you love someone, you should be willing to sacrifice anything for them, even if all the odds are against you. If you find someone worth loving, you shouldn’t let them go, because I know, I won’t.
