Gone (Book Two of the Dark Lycans Series)

Chapter Chapter Twenty-One: Isolation

Shade's and my snarls filled the room and made the ground shake. Zelda and Calypso let out their own thundering growls, making Blake cringe against my hand.

"Do you have anything to say?" I yelled slamming his body against the rough stone. He flinched, but his icy blue gaze held firm.

He opened his mouth, and I glared waiting for an answer, when he spit on my face. Blake bared his teeth at me in a sneer, and my restraint snapped.

Letting out a roar, I threw his body to the other side of the room. He grunted as he hit the wall, and slumped to the floor on hands and knees. Shade was instantly beside him, bringing her knee to his face.

Blake flipped onto his back, nose completely broken and crushed. I wiped the spit off my face and stalked towards Blake. He cradled his nose for a moment before heaving himself off the ground.

I met him as he stood with bared teeth. My fist smashed into his face, snapping and dislocating his jaw. He howled in pain and his head flew into the stone behind him from the impact.

Blood dribbled from the corners of his lips, and his eyes fluttered shut for a moment. They opened again, brighter than before and filled with anger. Blake released a throaty growl and leaped at me.

I spun around in a roundhouse kick straight to his chest. Shade was there holding her arm out, waiting for him. Blake flew backwards but his shoulders caught Shade's outstretched arm.

His body flipped, and his face hit the ground hard. I locked an arm around his neck, and heaved him to a standing position. Shade punched him in the gut, making his body convulse.

I kneed his side, and dropped his body to the ground after hearing a satisfying crack. Blood covered Blake and he tried to push himself off the ground once more.

"You really need to learn when to give up," Shade chuckled beside me. I gave her a deadly grin and sent another spinning kick towards Blake.

He was struggling to his feet on his hands and knees, but my kick hit his face and he fell to the ground. I wrapped a hand around his neck, and slowly picked him up off the ground.

Most of the energy had left his body, but his eyes still burned bright with anger. My claws dug into his throat, and blood quickly covered my hands.

Shade slashed open his shoulder, and I gave her a malicious grin. The cheetahs chirped happily, and I tilted my head to the side.

"You better hope you die quickly," I growled at him. Pawsteps and shouts suddenly filled the tunnels, they sounded like they belonged to our mothers.

I saw my mother run towards me out of the corner of my eye, but I couldn't make out what she was yelling. My burning red eyes were trained onto Blake's blue ones.

I clenched my hand into a fist and watched the life slowly begin to leave Blake's face. Suddenly I felt something prick my neck.

I became tired, but I fought against it. Shade dropped to the ground beside me, and I growled angrily, and squeezed my hand tighter.

Blake let out a strangled growl, and I felt another prick on my neck. My grip on Blake loosened slightly, and I felt my body start to sway.

"No!" I growl shaking my head.I planted my feet firmly on the ground and focused only on Blake. Black spots appeared at the corner of my vision as I readjusted my grip on his neck.

A third time something pricked my neck, and I swayed violently. I dropped Blake and fell to the ground, hard. Violet eyes came into view, and I thought I felt something stroke my hair.

"I'm sorry Raven." A voice said, and everything went black.

**************

I opened my eyes and saw the familiar stone wall of the tunnels. I was laying on my back, and something wet on my forehead.

I sat up and felt around on my head. My hand came back, stained red with blood. I tried to stand but a sharp pain shot through my leg.

I fell back onto the ground with a pained yelp. In the darkness, I could barely make out my broken leg.

My right leg was covered in blood, and I winced at seeing the compound fracture. The bone was sticking out of my shin, and my mouth fell open in horror.

Looking around, I realized I was far away from the safe room, the cave was darker, and the stone was lined with small crystals. A tear fell down my cheek, and I quickly swiped it away.

I let out a loud whistle, and waited. Thundering pawsteps got louder and louder, until a pair of blue eyes came into view. I sighed in relief at the white cat.

Her blue eyes were the most beautiful things I had ever seen. Mixes of greens, dark blues, ice blues, and white swirled around the black pupil.

I reached out my hand and stroked her head. She chuffed, and rubbed her face against my shoulder.

"Xena, Ut me ad locum tutum." I told her. She growled lowly, before crouching down. I grabbed onto her fur, and tried pull myself up.

My leg was in an awkward position, and I cried out in pain again. My arms gave out and I fell to the ground. Before my body hit the stone though, something pushed me back up onto the leopard's back.

I looked and saw that Xena was using her head to push me up. I climbed up all the way, and let my broken leg hang limp off her side.

I fisted my hands into her spotted white and silver fur, and hugged my body close to hers. She looked at me, before growling and jogging through the tunnels. Her blue eyes met mine every few minutes, to make sure I was okay.

I gave her a small smile, but winced every time we turned a corner. My leg was swollen and bright red, and my head was bleeding worse now.

"Properas Xena," I whispered, clutching my head. I was feeling really dizzy, and I could tell that she felt it too, because she sped up suddenly.

I squeezed my eyes shut tight against the pain coursing through my body. We took a really sharp corner and I yelled out when fire spread through my leg. Xena then slid to a stop, and I slowly opened my eyes.

We were in front of the silver door, and I breathed in relief.

"And now, getting down," I growled in frustration. Even though Xena had crouched down, I still had two feet to fall before my feet would hit the ground.

I took in a deep breath, and slid off of her. But I pushed off awkwardly, and I landed with most of my weight on my broken leg.

I screamed in agony and fell to the stone floor. The silver door suddenly swung open to reveal Shade. She yelled to our mothers behind her and turned to Xena quickly.

"Domum," she told my leopard. Xena just sat down and turned her massive head towards me. Shade rolled her eyes and came over to me.

She put my arm over her shoulders, and her mother took my other arm. They counted to three and lifted me up. I looked over my shoulder to see Xena whining at me.

"Domum Xena," I commanded her. She licked my face before taking off back to her room. Tears began to fall down my face when I accidentally put pressure on my broken leg.

Shade rubbed my back, and her mother helped her drag me into the medical room. I sat down on the examination table and started taking deep breaths.

"Do you remember what happened Raven?" Shade asked me. I shook my head, but paused halfway to nod as my memory returned.

"What?" My mother asked grabbing tools.

"You told Shade and me to practice in the runnels again, so we decided to cover our eyes to try to memorize them. We actually did really well, we didn't run into anything, and we knew exactly where we were," I said casting a glance at Shade.

"But then I tripped on something and ended up falling down a tunnel that was angled down, and I snapped my leg and hit my head. I blacked out and when I woke up, I called Xena to bring me here," I finished.

My mother came over to inspect my injury, and made a few noises to show she was listening.

"Okay, did it hurt when you broke it?" She asked. I gave her a stupid look.

"Of course it hurt. Why would you ask that?" I scoffed. She gave me a quick look before putting a hand on the bone that was sticking out of my shin.

"Because if it hurt when you broke it, then this-" she was cut off by my scream as she snapped the bone back into place. My breath caught in my throat and I felt nauseous from the pain.

"-is going to hurt even worse," she finished with a cringe.

"Thanks for the warning," I gasped. My hands were clenched into fists and my face was screwed up in pain. White spots flooded my vision, and I felt like I was going to pass out.

"This will knock you out, but it will stop the pain, okay?" I heard my mother ask. I quickly nodded my head, and felt Shade squeeze my hand beside me,

I felt something sharp prick my neck, and seconds later, the pain stopped, and I was out like a light.

*********************

A blinding white light floods my vision as I open my eyes. I squint against it, and sit up once they finally adjust. I was in a room, laying on a dark blue cot, with only one other person beside me.

Shade was laying on her back beside me, staring at the ceiling. I got off of my cot and noticed a door on the other side of the room.

I began walking towards it, but only made it a few feet before I smashed into something solid.

"Fuck!" I cursed at my bleeding lip. My hand reached out and felt a glass wall.I followed it and realized it stretched on all four sides, making a ten-by-ten foot square.

"No, no!" I screamed banging my fists against the glass, but it barely even moved. I guessed it was at least a few inches thick. I punched a fist at it again and mumbled a string of profanities when my knuckle cracked.

"Its no use Raven," I heard Shade say. I turned to see her sitting up, and giving me a sad look.

"What do you mean?" I asked walking towards her. She just sighed and stood up, walking to the glass.

"We're trapped."
