Chapter 49
I answered Emilia, “I came with a friend to choose a dress. What are you…”
The other two girls were about the same age as Emilia. The three of them were holding hands and looked like they had a good relationship.
“Our drama club was going to rehearse a show, and my role in it required a wedding dress, so I asked my roommate to come with me to pick one out and we planned to rent one to take back,” Emilia replied with a smile.
“Okay, you guys go choose,” I said softly.
“Great!” Emilia and her two friends went to pick out wedding dresses, while I sat on the couch flipping through bridal magazines and keeping” an eye on Emilia out of the corner of my eye.
After a while, Emilia and her friends began to inquire about the rental price of the wedding dress from the saleswoman.
When they found out that renting a wedding dress for one day cost 160 dollars, the three of them looked at each other, seemingly unable to accept it.
Emilia asked somewhat embarrassedly, “Can you make it a bit
cheaper? We need to rent it for about two days. I promise we won’t get the wedding dress dirty or damage it!”
“Please, we were all students. This wedding dress was for our play. The drama club didn’t have enough funds,” another girl pleaded.
This made the salesperson very difficult. She was not the owner of the

bridal shop, so she couldn’t make the final decision. Therefore, she could only politely let Emilia and her friends choose a cheaper wedding dress.
But Emilia had her eyes set on this particular wedding dress and was reluctant to change it.
As I watched the three of them reluctantly return the wedding dress, I stood up and walked over. “Emilia, you can take this dress with you. I’ll come to settle the bill later.”
“No, Sylvia!” Emilia shook her head quickly. “Let’s just pick a cheaper wedding dress!”
“If you like this one, then choose this one. If you switch to something else, you will eventually feel regret. Some things, once decided, will not change,” I said with a hint of profound philosophy.
The wedding dress is like this, and so are people. Once you meet true love one day, everyone else is just settling.
I ignored Emilia’s objection and swiped the card directly, then asked the salesperson to wrap up the wedding dress and hand it to her. “Just pay me back when your theater group’s funds are enough,” I said.
Emilia’s two roommates were also amazed by my generosity and kept thanking me.
Emilia blushed and her watery eyes were full of embarrassment. She whispered, “Thank you, Sylvia. I will return this money to you.”
“It’s not much money, don’t worry about it,” I said, my smile gradually widening.
After Emilia and her friends left, Janessa finally chose a dress she liked. It was a big red sleeveless long dress, with the hem reaching about halfway down her calves, revealing her slender ankles, and

making her waist look very slim and elegant. There was also a layer of thin gauze embroidered on the hem of the dress, but the quality of the dress didn’t seem very good.
Janessa twirled in front of the mirror. “How do I look? I think this outfit is really nice!”
“Not bad, the color suits you well!” I praised.
“Okay, let’s go with this one!” Janessa immediately made the decision and then had me take a photo. She sent the photo to Leonel.
A few minutes later, Janessa had a happy smile on her face. She said to the salesperson, “Please wrap this dress up for me, thank you.”
The journey of choosing a dress came to an end, and Janessa invited me to dinner. I chose a seafood restaurant, which was the same one where Emilia had a dispute with the owner last time.
When they arrived at the restaurant, Janessa looked at the dishes that were served with a gloomy expression. “Syl, why did you think of coming here to eat? I feel like the ingredients here are not very fresh…”
The average spending per person in this seafood restaurant was less than 16 dollars. It seemed impossible to demand high–quality ingredients here.
I was just curious, would Frederic accompany Emilia to eat these things in the future? He couldn’t possibly turn Emilia into an elegant noblewoman overnight, could he?
“I thought this restaurant was doing well, so I wanted to give it a try,” I said–as–I took a bite of the food. Actually, it tasted pretty good.
