Chapter 26
Chapter 26
“Greta wanted to see me about something,” I lied casually.
By the time I got to the parking lot of Peak Restaurant in the middle of the night, Ruben was all bruised up.
There were three or four fat men with big gold chains on their necks and cigarettes dangling from their mouths, and when they saw me coming, they let out a scoff, “Boy, this is the backer you’ve found, huh? A woman?”
“You are not asking her to sleep with us to offset your efforts, are you?” The other one spoke even more nastily.
I walked over to Ruben and helped him up. The nice young man was beaten up and swollen, unrecognizable, very messy.
“Sylvia, I work here part–time parking, and I accidentally scraped their car a bit. I said I could pay the money but they told me to pay 16 thousand dollars… I don’t have that much money…” Ruben whispered to me what happened.
“What car? Let me see it,” I asked.
Ruben pointed to a white Touareg parked not too far away in the dim light.
That was it? I couldn’t help but frown. The total price of this car was only more than 30 thousand dollars, and Ruben was asked to pay 16 thousand dollars for one scrape! They wished!
“So, little bitch, have you thought about how to compensate?”
Hearing the filthy words of the fat guys, Ruben unexpectedly stood out with great effort, pointing at them with his bloody finger. “You guys keep your mouths shut! Just kill me! Big deal…”
I was a little surprised. Were all college students so manly?
I thought he called me in just so that he would hide behind me and wait pathetically for me to solve the problem.
Ruben’s manliness obviously provoked the fatties. I blocked in front of him and glared at them. “Wait for me for three minutes.”
After saying that, I dialed a number.
This was Peak Restaurant, and Ruben was working part–time, so the person in charge of the restaurant should have stepped in, but I didn’t see anyone from the restaurant showing up.
“Yo, calling for backup? Girl, we are also famous in Aroma City. Ask around. Who does not know me, Larry? If you call ten people, I’ll call a hundred. Do you believe it?” Fatty was quite a talker, but unfortunately, I really hadn’t heard of him
Just a bunch of social trash. I hung up the phone and revealed a smile.
In less than three minutes, the general manager of Peak Restaurant appeared in front of me and greeted me politely, “Ms. Scott, what brings you here?”
“My friend is working part–time at your restaurant and was beaten up by these fat guys. Do you know what to do about it?” I asked indifferently.
“What? Someone dared to bully your friend?” The general manager immediately turned around and looked at the three fat guys. “Just you guys?”
The fatties seemed to be a bit stunned. Peak Restaurant was a five–star hotel, one of the largest in Aroma City. Of course, they knew they couldn’t afford to mess with it.
Sometimes power was very useful. Even the most brutal people had to
surrender.
The fatties who were raging just now, even before they knew my identity, respectfully apologized to me under the shock of the general manager, and compensated Ruben for the medical expenses.
When they were ready to leave, I spoke again, “Wait a minute.”
Then I turned to Ruben and said, “Go on, and give them each a slap.”
“Sylvia…” Ruben froze. There was a hint of timidity and hesitation in his blood–muddied eyes. It had been good enough to get the medical compensation, and he hadn’t thought about hitting them back.
“What are you afraid of?” I pulled Ruben by the hand and came in front of the fatties. “Watch!”
