Chapter 65
Adella Arcos - POV
“…Get me the bottle!” I heard Crystal outside, and shortly after that, I heard heavy footsteps approaching me, so I prepared myself. The door creaked open, and Beta Lanzo walked in. He walked in front of me and turned his back against me.
“This is our time,” Rachel said, so I sprung up from my chair and stabbed him in the neck before I knocked him to the floor. I know I didn't kill him, but that would make sure he stays down for a while. I soundlessly walked out of the cabin and looked around too, but then, I couldn't see Crystal anywhere. “Let's run away from here, Adella. Let's deal with her when she comes after us.” Rachel said, and I nodded my head and then ran into the forest.
I had no clue where I was or whether I was moving in the correct direction, so I prayed to the moon goddess that I find the road soon or a pack. I was running as fast as I could, the sound of the wind blowing in my ears, and that's when I heard the sound of the arrow. I slowed down and turned around to see an arrow coming my way.
I quickly moved away, but I was not fast enough. The arrow pierced my left arm, making me let out an agonized scream. I searched the forest when I saw Crystal walk out from behind a tree. “I am not going to let you live, Adella.” she sneered at me before she started to load her bow again.
I looked around before I ran towards the large tree to take cover, but I was not fast enough because another arrow hit my right thigh. I bit my lips, trying not to scream in agony and give her the satisfaction of seeing me suffer. I leaned on the tree and sat down on the ground. Blood was oozing out from my arm and leg while the arrows were still there.
“Come out, Adella. Let's finish this game once and for all.” I heard Crystal’s sing-song voice when she finally came and stood in front of me. “You have no idea how happy I am today,” she said when she pulled out a knife.
Tears were rolling down my eyes while I kept swallowing dry air. Fear should have engulfed me by now, but there was a small voice inside me telling me that nothing would happen to me. “Goodbye, Adella,” Crystal said, and I closed my eyes tight. I was counting the seconds when it would all be over for me.
“Argh!” Crystal’s blood-curdling scream made me open my eyes. The knife in her hand was on the floor while she slowly turned around. A gasp left my mouth when I saw a knife embedded in her back.
“I should have done this a long time ago.” it was Jose, along with a few other warriors. He had a murderous look on his face. He stormed towards us and held Crystal using her hair. “I am not going to let you die that easily, Bitch!” he sneered before he roughly pushed her towards one of the warriors. “Adella?” he rushed to my side and knelt down beside me. “Can you still feel the pain?”
“Yes, don't worry, I think I will survive,” I told him, but he still didn't look satisfied. He moved closer to me and gently scooped me in his arms. “Beta Lanzo must be close by, get him also, and then come to the pack,” he told the warriors. My eyes blurred with tears, and when Jose noticed it, a frown appeared on his face. “Just a few more minutes, Adella. And then this pain would go away.” he consoled me, but I shook my head. I placed my hand around his face and placed a chaste kiss on his cheeks.
“I should have told you about the threatening messages that beta Lanzo was sending me, Jose. I thought I didn't need anyone, I thought I was strong enough to handle everything, but I was wrong.” I choked out the words. “I should have put aside my ego and…” he shook his head.
“Don't blame yourself for everything that happened in here, Adella. I think you have grown stronger since the last time I saw you. And I must say that you handled the situation pretty well. But from now on, please learn to share anything that is disturbing you.” Jose asked me, and I nodded my head and leaned my head against his chest. I was starting to feel lightheaded and tired, so I closed my eyes and went to sleep.
Gamma Jose Gomez - POV
Adella lost consciousness halfway to the car, so I quickened my pace. When I reached the road, I quickly placed her in the back seat and told the warrior to take her to the pack hospital. After seeing the car speed off, I changed into my Wolf and ran into the forest again.
It took me forty-five minutes to get to that rundown cabin which was already surrounded by my warriors. I quickly changed back, put on my shorts, and walked into the cabin. Beta Lanzo was already tied to a chair, and he was beaten black and blue. “What should we do with him, Gamma Gomez?” one of the warriors asked me.
“Well, he definitely looks worse than I last saw him. And I don't think we will get into any trouble for killing a rogue.” I thought out loud, which made his eyes widen in shock. He was already starting to turn blue with the high level of silver in his body, which tells me that he only had a few hours to live anyway.
“Are we going to take him back to the pack?”
“Yes, and if he survives, then he will go to the trial if not too bad for him,” I said, and everyone nodded their heads before I walked out of there. I changed back to my Wolf in mid-air and started running toward the pack hospital.
