Gamma’s Destined Mate.

Chapter 54

Adella Arcos - POV

There were rarely many street lamps in here, and absolutely, no people on this road. I clutched my bag closer to me and started my walk towards the supermarket. A distant howl made a shiver run down my spine. Even though the wolves that I saw outside my balcony were pack wolves, this town is a no man’s territory, which means anyone can come and go.

The mechanical doors opened when I walked closer, and I entered the supermarket. Not many people were inside, except for two teenage boys shopping for some drinks, and an old couple was buying their weekly groceries. I quickly grabbed a trolley and started taking everything that I would need.

I was done with my shopping in under twenty minutes, so I made my way to the checkout counter. “Good evening, ma'am.” the guy behind the counter greeted me, and I nodded my head while I started to place everything I bought for him to bill. “Are you new to town?”

“Yes, just moved here recently.” I made sure to keep my answer short, and he didn't prob for more either. Once I paid him, I took my bags and when I was about to leave he called me.

“I am not sure if anyone told you. But there are a lot of wolves in this area. Some keep to themselves, but there are a few, who attack us.” he warned me, which made me turn around to face him.

“Thank you for letting me know,” I told him before walking out of there. There were still a few cars passing by, so I felt slightly safer when I started walking back to my apartment. The cold breeze made me pull my jacket closer to me while I felt this nagging feeling that someone was following me. I stopped and turned around to look, but no one was there.

Just a few meters, Adella. And then we will be safe in our house.

I kept repeating this in my mind while I increased my pace. My heart was beating against my chest while precipitation started to form on my forehead, even though it was cold outside. In the distance, I saw the orange glow of the light, which made a smile appear on my face.

We are almost home.

I mumbled to myself, and I was about to make a run for it when I tripped and fell, making the apple roll out of my bag.

Ouch!

I scraped out my knee, but my elbow was worse. I turned around to see a medium-sized rock in my way.

Who the hell dropped that here?

I got up from the ground and dusted my dress, and quickly collected all the items that fell out of my bag, and made it to my house. I was only able to let out a deep breath when I entered the apartment building and locked the door behind me.

I didn't know why I felt anxious all of a sudden, but there was something wrong with this place. I walked to my mailbox and opened it to see that I had a few letters, so I collected them all and made my way to my house. After keeping all the groceries I bought in the kitchen, I first made my way to the bathroom to take a shower.

The wounds I got were already starting to heal, but just to be on the safer side, I pasted a plaster on them before I began going through my letters. The first Letter was from Summer, and this made a smile appear on my face.

Dear Adella,

It feels like I have traveled back in time when I am writing this. Anyway, I hope you are doing well. Just want to let you know that the storm has settled. Jose is no longer looking for you, so now you can safely call me.

Also, my baby has started moving! I was over the moon when I felt the first kick, and the first thought that came to my mind was your face.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Your loving friend,

Summer.

It was nice to hear this from Summer, but something stunk when she told me that Jose had stopped looking for me.

Was that all I was worth for him?

I thought he would create a huge fuss and look for me, but I was wrong yet again. He never truly loved me enough. The Blue ink on the paper smeared when my tear-dropped started falling on them, so I put the letter aside and took the final letter, which had nothing written on the envelope. I tore the envelope and took the letter out to read.

Safe is just an adjective in your mind, never get too comfortable with it.

The sentence was confusing, but something told me that there is more to these words. “We will have to find a pack soon, Adella,” Rachel warned me.

“Do you feel something bad is going to happen?” I asked her.

“Yes, and it would be better if we leave this place and live among pack members rather than rogues,” Rachel said.

I would have called my Wolf paranoid if I had not experienced the strange feeling today.

I quickly collected all the papers, arranged them neatly in a stack, and kept them aside before I began with my dinner.

Gamma Jose Gomez - POV

It was pure agony to idly sit at home and wait till Adella made a move, but today, I just couldn't take it anymore. Something was telling me that she was not very far away from me, so I got up from my chair and walked out of my house. “Where are you going?” I turned around to see Sebastian walking towards me.

“I can't do this anymore. I am going to find her.” I told him, and he shook his head.

“I don't think you have to do that,” Sebastian told me, and this made me frown at him.

“What are you talking about?” I asked him when he showed me a paper.

“I just got an Intel, and I think you might need to know what it is about,” Sebastian said with a smile on his face.
