Gamma’s Destined Mate.

Chapter 22

Adella Arcos - POV

I looked around to find Summer, but she was not to be seen, so I walked upstairs and followed the instructions that were written on the paper. When I reached the balcony, I pushed open the door and stepped out into the cold night. It was windy outside, bringing with it a hint of an earthy smell, the first signs of rain. “Jose?” I whispered and looked around, but I didn't see anyone there. I closed the door and walked away.

“So, you did come.” I froze in my place while my heart started to palpitate. That definitely doesn't sound like Jose to me. When I turned around, I saw Beta Lonzo standing against the only exit through which I could escape, with a malicious smirk on his face.

“Wh…what are you doing in here?” I asked him, and he rolled his eyes at me and started walking towards me.

“I am the person who sent that letter. But I was not sure if you would come to meet me…”

“But the waiter told me that it was J…”

“Of course, I told her to say that. But I expected you to confront Jose about this before following those instructions,” he said, indirectly mocking my naive behavior.

“You know, almost everyone in this pack is downstairs. And if I…”

“If you scream, they will come to your rescue?” he finished my sentence while he shook his head.

“I am the beta of this pack, Adella. I am not stupid,” he said, and within a few seconds, he trapped me against the railing, securing my hands firmly behind my back. “Scream as loud as you want because no one is going to hear you,” he said, and this made me frown at him.

“What are you talking about?” I asked him when he smiled at me before he brought his face closer to my cheek.

“Well, let's just say that with the help of my friend, I have cast a wall around this balcony, which would prevent any noise from escaping outside,” he said, and this made a cold shiver run down my spine.

“Let's just kill him, Adella,” Rachel told me.

“But, wouldn't that get us into trouble for killing a beta?” I asked her, and she shook her head at my response.

“If we don't, then our life will be ruined for good. I know we can't fight and win against him, but at least we would have tried.”

“Okay,” I said, and I tried to focus on my Wolf, to give her control, but something stopped me from pulling her forward.

“Are you trying to shift, my dear mate?” Beta Lanzo asked me, breaking my concentration. “Your Wolf is trapped within you as long as you are inside this wall,” he said in a dangerously calm voice, and that was when the true fear started to set in.

“Beta Lanzo, please just let me go. This is wrong.” I begged him, but then he shook his head.

“It's not wrong once I claim you as mine, Adella,” he said, and when he was moving closer to me, I banged my head against his, making him momentarily step back, and I took this as my chance to slip out of his grip, but then he grabbed my shoulder and tore my sleeve while pulling me back at the same time.

Gamma Jose Gomez - POV

“…that can be…”

“Excuse me.” I was interrupted by my conversation with one of the warriors, and when I turned around, I saw that it was Adella’s friend.

“Yes?”

“Could I speak to you for a minute, Gamma Gomez?” she sounded stressed, so I nodded my head.

“Excuse us for a moment,” I told the warrior, and he nodded his head before I walked away with her. When we were almost detached from the crowd, she turned around to face me.

“Did you see, Adella?”

“No, we only shared that dance, and after that, I didn't see her,” I told her, and this made her eyes widen in fear.

“Why do you look worried?” I asked her.

“I am not able to find Adella anywhere. And even her scent has faded from this place. I am just a little worried.” she told me, and this made my wolf and I alert.

“Maybe she went to the restroom or went to get some fresh air,” I suggested, but she abruptly shook her head while she was desperately scanning the crowd for her friend.

“She told me a while ago that she wanted to go home, but now, she is missing, and I know that she would not leave me without telling me goodbye,” she said before her eyes focused back on mine. “Even beta Lonzo is nowhere to be seen. I am a little worried about that,” she said and that was when I realized that.

Something that beta Lanzo told me a few days ago struck my mind, and this made my Wolf growl in anger. “You go and look outside, and I will go and look upstairs,” I told her, and she nodded her head before she hurriedly left the place. I walked passed the crowd, who were all partially drunk, and made my way upstairs. I searched every room there, but they were all empty.

“Let's find her using her scent,” Carlos suggested, and I closed my eyes and concentrated on my mate’s scent. Even though the scent was faint, it led me past all the rooms to the end of the hallway, where there was a balcony whose doors were closed.

I pushed it open, and it was like I entered into a bubble, I heard Adella’s screams. I stepped outside, and I saw her on the floor with beta Lanzo walking towards her. “Get the fuck away from her!” I yelled, which made him look up at me.

“How did you find…” he didn't get the chance to finish his sentence because I began pouncing on him. Everything was a blur. He threw a few punches, but I managed to get the most damage done.
