Gamma’s Destined Mate.

Chapter 20

Adella Arcos - POV

After that kiss that we shared, we stayed there for a couple of minutes longer before we began our hike down. When we reached the car again, I placed my bag in the back seat and got in the front. “How was it?” Jose asked me, and for a second, I was confused as to what he was asking me. “The view.”

“Oh, it was beautiful. I guess I will be coming here often.” I told him, and a small smile formed on his face. When we came back to the pack, he stopped the car a few meters away from the pack entrance. “Will you be there in the autumn ball tomorrow?” I asked him, and he nodded his head.

“I don't think I can avoid that,” he said, and then the atmosphere was silent again. “Okay, I will see you later then?” he asked me, and I nodded my head, grabbed my bag from the back seat, and got down. I walked back into the pack and went straight to my house.

I locked my door behind me, took a seat on the couch, and took my phone out to see that I had a few messages from Summer. “How was your date today?”

I quickly dialed her number, and she picked up the phone on the second ring. “So, did you just come back home?” Summer asked me.

“Yes, so how are you feeling today?”

“Well, not doing very well, but I am enjoying every moment of my life,” she said with glee. “So, are you going to give me the details or?”

“Nothing happened between us,” I told her, but a blush already crept up my cheeks.

“Yeah right, and that was why you came back home at eleven. Don't try to lie to me, Ella.” Summer said, and I let out a sigh and fell back on my couch.

“We did go to see the sunrise, and I must say, it was just so beautiful. And then we sat and talked for a while, ate the snacks that I took, and then came back home.” I told her when the line was abruptly disconnected. I took the phone to see that she had cut the call, and a few seconds later, she FaceTimed me.

“I don't believe your lie, Adella.” Summer said and narrowed her eyes at me.

“We may have kissed, but that was all,” I told her and crossed my fingers. “I swear,” I told her, and she kept staring at me for a couple of more minutes before she finally nodded her head.

“Fine, I believe you. But you two sound so boring. I mean. If it was Vince and I, we would have taken our…”

“Please, I don't want to hear more of that.” I interrupted her, and she rolled her eyes at me.

“Don't act like you have not done it before. Moreover, it would have been romantic.” Summer said while I just nodded my head. Summer is a complete extrovert, who will not be afraid to try anything new, but I am the complete opposite. I have faced a lot in life, and Jose was like a gift that I got after everything that I endured. And I was glad that he wanted to take this relationship slow, just like me.

“We still want to get to know each other before getting deeper into this. Summer.” I told her, which made her quiet.

“Was that your idea or his?”

“It was his. But I guess he is right about it too. I mean, I have already got to know a lot about him, and I also like the pace our relationship is going.” I told her, but then I saw something in her eyes, which made me frown.

“I am not telling this to you to offend you, but what would happen if he thinks that this relationship doesn't work out between you two? Would he leave then?”

“Why would you think that?” I asked her, starting to get annoyed.

“Adella, when we find our mate, the only instinct we would have is to first mark our other half, and that urge would be even more strongly felt by Gamma Jose. But it also makes me wonder why he didn't mark you yet,” she said, and this made my heart sink to the pit of my stomach.

“But he did Mark me.” I defended my mate and showed her the mark on my neck, and she shook her head.

“You and I both know that is just a temporary mark, and it will fade away with time. I am talking about him claiming you as his and officially announcing it to everyone.”

“I understand, Summer. Maybe, he just needs some time. But I know that he will not reject me.” I told her more firmly, which made her arch her eyebrow at me. “I can see the love in his eyes for me.”

“But has he ever told you his true feelings? Has he told you the three magical words yet?” she asked me, and I could feel the fear slowly building within me.

“He did tell me when we were having…” I didn't finish my sentence, but Summer shook her head.

“You told me you both were under the influence of the magic potion, so that can not be counted. But has he told you that recently?” she asked me, and even though I wanted to lie to her, and tell her that he did tell me, I shook my head.

“I am just worried about you, Adella. I don't know why, but my gut feeling tells me that something is not right. I want you to have the best life possible. And I hope you know that?” Summer asked me, and I nodded my head.

“But what do you suggest I do now? My heart is telling me that he loves me, but my mind is in conflict. I know his wolf loves me, but about him, I am not so sure.” I told her, and she nodded her head.

“I think I know what to do.” Summer said.
