Chapter 19
Adella Arcos - POV
Ping, ping, ping…
I stirred awake to the sound of my alarm and sat up on my bed. I was exhausted after yesterday’s shopping, but it was mixed with a sense of excitement for today’s adventure with my mate. I quickly got up from my bed and made my way to the washroom. After taking a shower, I wore a T-shirt and a pair of denim shorts and tied my hair in a high ponytail. I grabbed my backpack and kept a bottle of water and a tin of the homemade chips.
Ring ring.
“Hello?”
“Are you ready?” Jose asked me while I quickly applied some mascara.
“Yes, I will come to meet you in five minutes,” I told him.
“Okay,” he said, and the line was disconnected. I made sure everything was switched off before locking my house and running to the entrance of the pack. When I walked out of the pack, I saw Jose’s car parked a few meters away.
“Sorry, I am late,” I told him when I got inside.
“That's all right. We still have time to go and see the sunrise,” he said and we were soon off. Everything was still dark outside, so I didn't know where we were exactly going. After an hour, Jose parked the car on the curb and got down, and I got down too. “There is a little hike to reach the top. Will you be able to hike?”
“Of course,” I told him, and we soon entered the forest. Despite still being dark, I thanked my werewolf senses because we were still able to see in the dark. We walked deeper into the forest when the path started to slowly turn into a slope.
Jose climbed without breaking a sweat while I was trembling with every step that I took. “Everything good?” Jose asked me.
“I am fine, you go ahead,” I yelled back. Every time I placed my leg on a rock, I prayed to the moon goddess to not make this my last day on earth. After forty-five minutes of that gruesome hike, we finally reached the top. Jose broke a few branches from the tree to clear the path. And we walked in deeper till we reached an opening.
I walked closer to the edge and looked down. All I saw were rocks, trees, and plants, but the ground was not visible, just an endless path straight to your death. “Careful, don't go too close to the edge. The rocks are not that stable.” Jose yelled, and I quickly stepped back. I turned back around when I saw Jose sitting on a rock, just glancing up at the sky.
“How did you find this place?” I asked him when I made my way to take a seat on a rock that was next to his.
“One of the warriors from your pack told me about this place. He said that he would usually come up here to see the sunrise, which is just a treat to the eyes.” Jose explained while a small smile formed on his face. “While it would also evoke a serene feeling within you.”
“I guess he is right,” I mumbled when I looked at the sky, which was gradually changing into a lighter blue while in the distance, the sky was more of an orangish-yellow color.
“About?”
“Both the things that he said,” I mumbled. We embraced ourselves in the tranquil silence of the forest, except for the occasional sound of the wild animals and the chipping of the birds. I looked down at my mate to see that he had closed his eyes.
“Go closer to him.” Rachel urged me.
“Won't it make me look bad? I mean, shouldn't he be the person to initiate anything romantic?”
“In a relationship, you should know to balance equality. He would not mind.” Rachel said, and I got up from my place and took a seat on the edge of his rock. My heart was beating like a drum while I slowly slid my hand toward him and placed it on top of his, immediately igniting the fireworks.
He abruptly opened his eyes, and his glance went to our intertwined hand before it moved up to meet my eyes. No words were spoken between us, but I was able to feel the love that was pulsing through our bond. This feeling felt foreign to me, but it also calmed my senses and made me feel safe for the first time in my life.
The grey sky around me was slowly being lit up by the vibrant colors emitted through the rays of the sun, but my only focus was on my mate. Who is making me feel a lot of things within.
Gamma Jose Gomez - POV
I don't know whether I am doing the right thing or not. I am lying to the love of my life, Elena, while I am sitting here with my destined mate in a secluded area. I am still confused as to what decision should I take. Should I accept my mate, just to satisfy my Wolf or reject her, because I am in love with someone else?
But the more time I spend with Adella, part of me has also started yearning for her touch, to hear that melodious voice of hers one more time. Her electric blue eyes were slowly taking their place within my heart, making me feel less guilty of betraying Elena as the days passed.
No one will see us in here. Just one taste of those luscious lips.
My conscience urged me.
Damn with everything around me. I mumbled to myself before I pulled her towards me and kissed her like my life depended on it.
The sun slowly rose on the horizon, lighting the sky with rays of orange and yellow while I devoured my mate with a passion that I never knew existed within me. Her soft hands slipped to the back of my neck, and she started playing with my hair while I pulled her closer to me and placed my hands firmly around her hips.
