Chapter 16
Adella Arcos - POV
I couldn't wipe off the smile on my face. After kissing Jose, I ran back to the pack and walked to Summer’s house. I knocked on her door and stayed there till she opened it, and a couple of minutes later, she pulled it open. The smile that was on my face slowly vanished when I saw her face.
She had no makeup on, and her eyes were red from crying, but there was no trace of sadness there. “What happened, Summer?” I asked her, and she literally pulled me inside the house and locked the door.
“I haven't told Vince about this either. You are the first person to know.” She began speaking in riddles, which only increased my blood pressure.
“Come to the point. Did something happen between the two of you?” I asked her, and she shook her head.
“First come and take a seat,” she said and dragged me into her living room. I took a seat on the sofa, and she took a seat next to me. She took both my hands in hers and took a deep breath. “You are going to be an aunt, Ella,” she said. For a couple of minutes, I was frozen in shock. I just couldn't believe what she just said.
“Oh my! Congratulation!” I pulled her into a tight hug. I just couldn't control my excitement. Summer and Vince had been trying for a baby for the past two years, and she had even cried numerous times whenever the result had turned negative.
“I just couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the two pink lines,” she mumbled into my ear while I slowly pulled away from her. “My period was two weeks late, and I had been having morning sickness lately.”
“Did you go and see the pack doctor yet?” I asked her, and she shook her head.
“I am waiting till Vince come back home tonight and go and see the doctor together,” she said, and I nodded my head.
“That sounds great. Anyway, do you need my help to prepare something special for dinner?” I asked her, and a sheepish smile formed on her face.
“I had been craving to eat your meatball soup from yesterday. If you can…”
“Of course, I will make it for you,” I told her and got up from my place.
“You go and take some rest, I will prepare everything and call you,” I said, and a huge smile appeared on her face. I made my way to the kitchen and started cooking. By the time I was done, it was almost six thirty, so with a few final touches, I arranged everything on the dining table and went to find Summer.
“Everything is done. All you have to do is surprise your mate.”
“Thank you so much, Adella. And please stay back for dinner.”
“No, I will see you tomorrow. You both enjoy.” I told her, and with a tight hug, I left her house. I walked back to my little home. After turning on all the lights, I quickly made my way to my bathroom and took a shower. This day will always hold a special place in my heart.
Gamma Jose Gomez - POV
I banged my hand on the steering wheel in frustration. I think I have already let this go on for way too long, but a part of me doesn't want to let Adella go, either.
Ring ring.
I looked down at my phone when I saw that Alpha Alonso. “Hello?”
“Why do you sound so annoyed?” was the first question that he asked.
“Nothing, why did you call?”
“Well, I called to tell you that your stay at the Blue Moon pack is shortened.”
“What do you mean?”
“You will only be staying for one and a half months there. Since the Alpha just called me and told me that his warriors have progressed in their fighting skills very much.” Dylan informed me. And even though I should have been happy about this news, a sense of fear gripped me. This would mean, I would only be able to spend a little time with Adella. “Aren't you happy that you are coming back?” Dylan asked me, interrupting my train of thought.
“Huh, I am,” I said, but my words felt hollow to me.
“Anyway, did you happen to meet your mate there?” this question made me freeze.
“I…no…I did not.” I lied. I didn't know why I didn't want to tell Dylan about this, but for some reason, I wanted to keep this my little secret for as long as I could.
“Oh, well, then, we still have that problem looming on top of our heads.”
“I guess so. You know you can't marry Elena without finding and rejecting your mate, right?”
“I know, and I also have a feeling that my mate is close by. If I find her, I will let you know.”
“Sure, that sounds great. Anyway, I will talk to you later.” Dylan said, and the line was soon disconnected.
I kept my phone back in the center console and drove into the pack. When I reached the pack house, I parked my car in the usual spot, and right when I got down, Beta Lanzo walked out of the house, when he saw me, a smirk formed on his face.
“Well, looks like you had a lot of fun with that omega today, Gamma Gomez?” he asked me, but I remained quiet. I am seriously not in the mood to argue with him right now. I sidestepped him, and when I was about to walk away, he spoke again. “You know, I have been wondering why you saved Adella the other day. But…”
“I would have saved any woman who was in that situation that day.” I retorted, but he shook his head.
“I doubt that. Something is going on between the two of you.”
“And that is none of your business, Beta Lanzo.” I sneered at him, but that smirk was still plastered on his face.
