Chapter Stone (2)
We rolled up at the new Dija half an hour later. The car ride had been mostly awkward since he kept on answering in short one word answers. The new place was even bigger than the last. I took a selfie with the giant dragon gilded on the door and send it to Oak. I hadn’t seen him in a while and I missed the big guy.
Masen opened the doors for us and he greeted me with a deep bow. ‘Stop it, Masen.’ I growled. I was embarrassed because everyone in the corridor was now staring at me. ‘Our beautiful savior.’ He was joking and followed us inside. He locked the doors behind us. New protocol I guess. In front of us the Dija was lively. Everywhere Rainers were training. ‘Saviors never looked so good though.’ He added cheekily and I literally saw Andrew stiffen beside me. Oh Masen was on some very serious slippery territory here. He had always been kind of flirting with me but now it was blatantly obvious. I guess he was digging my new walking corpse look for some reason. I have never looked more unattractive.
Yun was next. ‘Bambs!’ he playfully cheered and gave me small hug, barely touching me. He was still very careful with me. on Andrew’s orders I assumed. ‘I got you your favorite.’ I handed him the Caramel Macchiato and he did and extravagant act of falling to his knees in front of me and moaning loudly. Making all heads turn our way and my ears turn pink. ‘Stop it!’ I growled and dragged him upwards by his shirt. ‘You are the best.’ He ruffled my hair and gratefully took the cup from my hands.
‘I will show you the new changing rooms.’ Masen said and he held out his arm for me to hold unto to. Andrew’s hand snapped in the middle of the two of us. ‘No need. I will show her.’ His voice cold. He grabbed my hand and dragged me forward. Yun of course howled in laughter, he never cared about making things more awkward.
‘What was that.’ I grunted at him. His hand feeling warm in mine, but it was still weird. Considering we don’t speak. He dropped my hand as soon as we left the two stooges behind us. I stumbled over a mat and he grabbed my hand again but this time acting exasperated as if holding my hand was a task. I flinched back and put my hand in my back pocket.
He scowled down at me but didn’t say anything. Together we walked in silence again and he showed me the shower room and the dressing rooms.
‘When should I start training again.’ I asked. Because I missed it and really needed it for my mental sanity.
‘When you can stand up longer than thirty minutes.’ He bit back a little too harshly. Auch.
He saw that and he sighed. ‘I didn’t mean it like that.’ He turned around and placed his hands on my shoulders and softened his tone with me. ’You are still too weak, princess.’ He glanced at the door, somebody had walked through it. ‘You’ll get there soon though. Don’t worry.’ He said with his eyes still on the door and his warm palms still on my shoulders doing stupid things to me heartrate.
‘Andrew, Chao is looking for you. He wants to talk to you first.’ It was Masen again. He had his hands in his pockets and was smiling at me. Andrew sighed. ‘Okay, I’ll be right back.’ He eyed Masen as if that meant, don’t you dare anything.
‘He’s in his office.’ Masen said to Andrew’s back who didn’t reply.
‘What’s gotten into him lately?’ Masen chuckled. ‘He is even more stoic and grumpy than usual.’
I shrugged. I knew what was into him lately but I couldn’t exactly say. Yeah, we slept together and afterwards he regretted it and now things are awkward because he still has to be my bodyguard.
‘Want to see something cool?’ he said. All excited.
‘Sure, show me.’ Masen was cute in this boy next door way of his. Yet, unfortunately for him I only liked the Alpha type so he really didn’t do it for me. He had a nice trained body though and he was tall, so I could see why some girls would find him very attractive. He walked me towards a courtyard in the middle of the building. It looked like a small Japanese garden with waterfalls, blooming threes and benches everywhere. It was a break-room.
‘Now this is better than the old Dija!’ I exclaimed. It was really beautiful. ‘Such a nice view.’
‘Indeed it is.’ Masen added but he wasn’t staring at the garden. He made me feel like awkward blushing, which was entirely ridiculous. I broke the tension. ‘We should go back.’
‘Yeah, or we could… see the swans and koi fishes?’ he grabbed my hand and he led me to the pond. It was so lovely.
‘Lux!’ Andrew’s frustrated voice reached me. ‘I have been looking everywhere for you.’ he saw me sitting next to Masen and he sighed deeply. ‘Let’s go.’
‘I’m just being told about the origins of the Swans here. Just a second.’
‘Now.’
‘No.’
‘Now Lux. I’m not joking.’
‘What’s your fucking problem?’ now he was getting me riled up.
‘Just relax man, she’s just sitting here listening.’ Masen added and that was the wrong move. Oh god it was the wrong move. Andrew reached for Mason shirt and dragged him from the bench. ‘Don’t ever tell me about what she is or isn’t doing. I can see that for myself.’
‘Relax Andrew!’ I sprung upward but everything spun so I wobbled a bit.
Still weak. Sometimes forgot. Courtesy of anonymous bomber.
Both of them saw and Andrew ignored Masen instantly. Both of his hands steadying me. I was still spinning though. ‘Oh…’ I sighed. Because now I was seeing black dots. I was passing out. ‘I’m going to faint.’ I uttered feebly. I was sat down again, placed on Andrew’s lap. ‘Just breathe for a second, princess.’ He whispered against my head. The feeling was subsiding fortunately.
‘You get me so worked up!’ I growled at him and punched his chest hard, he was to blame for this. Masen had took his L and left.
’You get me worked up.’ He added solemnly.
