Chapter Stone (1)
‘Sky, what is this?’ I stared at the chocolate bomb as if it was going to explode.
‘We’re celebrating your first day back at campus!’ She and Olive were staring at me as if I was daft.
‘By giving me a chocolate.. bomb?’
‘It’s a joke, silly!’ Olive smiled. ‘You’re so bomb you got bombed.’ She read the text accompanying the bomb out loud one more time. It was so stupid and weird that I rolled my eyes and gave a small laugh.
‘Well, thanks.’ I took a small bite. ‘I guess it’s good.’
It was a busy morning at Lane’s Coffeeshop. All tables were filled with chattering students and there was a long line waiting for the coffee take-away.
My Telvice pinged and I saw it was Andrew. My heart did stupid jolt. It was nothing special, he was just asking me to join him at the opening of the new Dija. Apparently Chao wanted to see me. They had opened at another location. Jun had told me it was a smaller place but had more security. It was part of a bigger building with other high-end companies residing in them. They had still not found who had bombed our Dija or they had decided to not tell me.
Dexar was in line for coffee and came to chat with us for a little bit. He had told me about Sebastian performance of the other night. I had of course missed it, considering I could barely stand for longer than half an hour these days, due to backpain from my injuries. I felt bad I did not see it but they all promised me videos. So I was looking forward to seeing the concert later today in my room.
Andrew came into Lane’s in a hurry. ‘You ready?’ he eyed my empty plate and could still see the outline of the bomb on the plate. ‘Don’t ask.’ I replied solemnly. He shook his head and stared at Sky and Olive. ‘That’s not funny.’
Sky just shrug. ‘We thought it was funny.’
He eyed me again. Still a little bit coldly, but I could clearly see these days how much he had to act to keep this up. That made me feel a little better.
‘Yeah, should we bring Yun his favorite coffee?’ he had been raving about the Caramel Macchiato he had gotten from Lane’s for weeks now. Andrew rolled my eyes at me going to the counter and ordering one for him. I heard him arguing with Sky behind me but didn’t really care what they were saying.
