Galaxy Of Hope

I had woken up that night with a warm body pressed against me. Wondering for just a fraction of a second if he was my sixth mate. Yet I wouldn’t let my thoughts wander that far. He couldn’t be. He had sworn that oath. I had just relished in that moment for a few minutes.

Him pressed against me, fully aware that in morning he would step back from me and I would step back from him because he carried his profession over everything else and he wouldn’t compromise his job for anyone. Not even me. But for just a few minutes, we were here. Together. Close.

It was all I was going to get and when I closed my eyes again I knew, I would not feel him this close to me ever again.
