Chapter Creatures
Again I found myself deep into my research. I wasn’t even halfway through the Fae side of the library but I was getting somewhere. The world was starting to make more sense. Yet, all the horrors I’ve come across, that came with Fae Magic, were something else entirely. There were creatures there that prayed on your happy thoughts. Fae that read your mind, hunted down your mates, and found their life force out of severing your bond with them. I shuddered as I closed the last book. That was about enough for tonight.
I glanced outside and saw night was falling. I hadn’t stopped reading for about three hours now and hadn’t even found time to check my Telvice. A Tuesday evening well spend but it had done things to my mind. Was I really willing to sacrifice everything to get into Faerie? Vincent was the devil himself, this partnership with him would not end well. Yet, he was a means to an end. My only means at the moment.
Ash was still not speaking to me. I glanced at my Telvice, needing to reach out to him. I hovered over his name. He would not answer me. Not just days after our incident. It could only hurt our bond further to put more strain on it.
Something creaked ominously behind the farthest bookshelves. The hairs on my neck stood to attention. I was being watched.
I was not alone here.
I threw a hasty glance at the reception. Mister Dontari was still there but he would be closing in about ten minutes. Was the person who was stalking me waiting for him to leave?
I gathered all my books and quickly walked towards the section where I found them. I was alphabetically going through all of them and managed to reach the D section. Still, a long way to go but it was a start.
My senses were still on high alert. Something was wrong here. I realized a long time ago when I felt like something was off I was probably right. I opened my Telvice and thought about every one of my mates whereabouts. Dosch was probably in his penthouse and he did not want me to call him anyway. Sebastian was at his swimming practice till ten. Oak had tutoring until eleven. Jax was with Maddox in the city. That only left one option. But I would be damned if I called him first. Maybe I should call Dean? I tried but it went straight to voicemail. I hurried towards the reception desk and Mister Dontari didn’t even glance my way.
‘See you tomorrow mister Dontari.’
He just grunted.
The fucking old dirtbag. I hope you get eaten by whatever was waiting for me in the shadows.
Once I was outside I needed to cross-campus, towards my dorm, by the Dunnager and the Forrest. It was a Tuesday so nobody would be around. The bars were open from Wednesday till Sunday in the official fall and winter seasons.
I started moving quickly, towards the light. Just about all creatures mentioned in the Fae Encyclopedia hated lights. My fingers trembled. I had no idea why I was so scared. Whatever was stalking me was getting my senses on high alert. I needed to trust my instincts. Like I knew to trust Leo. I instinctively touched my Leo necklace. My right hand tightly clutched my Telvice until I was white-knuckled.
I heard a soft giggle and quick scattering footsteps behind me. My breath hitched. That was it. I was calling him. He picked up on the first ring, making my heart jolt.
‘Lux?’
I glanced behind me. The shadow had almost reached me. Oh god… it was horrible.
‘Ash!’ I could not hide the panic in my voice or the panting from my quick pace or shallow breaths.
‘What’s wrong? Where are you?’ I could instantly tell he was already gathering his stuff to walk out his door. Without any questions asked. Even with that huge fight. A sense of relief overcame me and I wanted to cry. He would always come for me. No matter what. Our bond was unconditional.
‘I’m… being followed. It’s the shadow creature.’ I uttered.
‘Where are you Lux?’ worry lacing his voice, already on the move.
‘Near the Dunnager.’ I added. The Hitachi had almost reached me. If I stepped into the darkness, he would get me.
‘Go to the gym. Now! Run, sweetheart. Stay on the line!’
The franticness of his voice made me run like a bat out of hell. I darted across the square, the shadow on my heels. Giggling frantically like a maniac clown. I felt my heartbeat beating out of my chest, my ears ringing. I reached the door and fell through it. Shadow creature fell in behind me.
‘NO!’ I screamed. My Telvice flew across the tiles to the other side of the room. I scrambled backward. He seemed to grow in size. ’Sidhetien..’ he hissed. ‘Y-your time iss.. uppp…’
I reached for a broom and whacked him in his head. Which made him laugh even harder.
‘I-I can’t be killed…’ he hissed. His long bony fingers reached for my face.
‘Get away from me!’ I cried. My hands flew in front of my face on instinct and I blasted energy from them straight into the creature. It dissolved into thin air.
I dropped back, letting my head fall on the cold tiles. Breathing hard. Chest rising and falling frantically. The Leo necklace bounced between my boobs.
Ash flew into the hallway. His hair was in disarray. Black sweatpants on and no shirt. No shoes. I had disturbed him in his meditation time. He ran towards me and crouched down.
‘You look white as hell. Is he gone?’
‘Yeah well.. seeing… that thing… made me woozy.’
I tried to sit up and everything spun. My energy depleted.
I glanced at my hands. They were shaking but looked normal.
He pulled me upwards and I fell into his chest. His familiar smell engulfed me. It had been a while since we had been intimate. My body reacted to the loss. He probably did as well, by the way, his eyes dilated.
‘Thanks for being here Ash…’ I added.
‘I’ll walk you home.’ He didn’t want me in his bed tonight so he wasn’t done with being angry. ‘No more walking around here alone, you got that?’
‘Yes, daddy.’ I rolled my eyes. The controlling dickwad needed to stop.
He slapped my ass while I walked. ‘Don’t roll those eyes at me.’
‘Or what?’ I teased.
‘I’m slapping it out of you.’
‘Like that is going to stop me.’ I drawled.
He spun me around and backed me up against the wall. ‘I’m serious Lux. You need to be more careful.’
I let my hands wander over his naked chest. I bit my lip and glanced up. ‘Maybe I want you to be angry with me.’ I teased.
He groaned. ‘Stop that. I’m still furious at you.’
I wandered lower. Let my hands slowly go over his hard length.
‘Lux….’
‘How angry did I make you? Huh? Did you want to spank me?’ I whispered in his ear and didn’t hesitate to softly kiss his earlobe in the process. I felt him swell even bigger underneath me. From the smallest administrations. This was my real power.
‘Hard….’
‘Hard huh… this hard?’ I grabbed his cock and rubbed it roughly.
He grabbed my neck and squeezed slightly.
‘I’m about to fuck you right here and now. If you don’t want that. I suggest you stop it.’
‘I want you to fucking squeeze me harder.’ I whispered while giving him my most sultry stare.
That about did it. He let out this high moan, slightly desperate, slightly dangerous. I was in for a wild ride.
