Chapter From 13
Chapter 13
Natalie’s heart raced. She gripped her hands tight, and a flash of panic appeared in her eyes.
Josh broke into a smile and said, “Tve got a surprise for you”
He took Natalie by the hand and led her out of the bedroom to stop at the third door along the eastern corridor on the second floor. “Go in and take a look, Josh encouraged
Natalie, a bit taken aback, hesitated for a few seconds before stepping through the door.
The room was large. A grand and elegant piano stood in front of the tall windows. She approached the piano and gently ran her fingers over the black and white keys, astonished
This piano had featured in the newspapers, It was known as the Everlove. Stories said that the piano had once been in a noble church, played by a monarch. It really was a genuine historical piece.
וה
Natalie’s mind flashed back to her return to the Linney home, where she had caught a glimpse of Jennifer’s opulent piano at one corner.
Jennifer was acknowledged as the most talented woman in the high society circles, skilled in both piano and ballet. Her piano was both stylish and conly
Curious, Natalie tried her hand at it. But then, Evelyn had come up behind her and scolded, “Don’t touch Jennifer’s plano
Charles had laughed scornfully and added. “You’re just a country bumpkin. What can you play! Get your hands off! That piano costs over a million bucks! You don’t even know what you’re doing. Don’t damage it.”
On her very first day back, Natalie had been ridiculed like this. After they left, she crouched in a corner and cried for a long time. Since that day, Natalie never went near that piano again.
But the piano in front of Natalie now was much more expensive than that of Jennifer’s
Josh asked in a low voice. “Do you like it?”
“Yes, I do,” Natalie replied, turning to Josh with a smile. She sincerely added, “Thank you.”
“I’m happy you like it,” Josh responded, smiling back. “Why don’t you play something for me?” he suggested.
“Okay.” Natalie had taken piano lessons at school and been a member of the music club. Maybe because she felt like she had to prove herself, she had studied hard in many areas, including music, all on her own.
She sat down and began to play “Adriana by the Water.”
Long ago, there was a ruler named Piers in an old kingdom. He treasured his sculptures deeply.
One day, he commissioned a sculpture of a beautiful girl. Then Piers prayed to the gods tirelessly. He hoped the girl in the sculpture would come to life, to share his burdens and bring joy to his people, and to be by his side forever.
Eventually, the God of love heard Piers‘ prayers and animated the statue Piers saw his dream become a reality.
As Natalie played, Josh stood beside her silently, gazing at her with an intense look. Her curly hair cascaded over her shoulders as she sat at the plano, fingers dancing over the keys, the skirt of her dress rippling gently. She looked like she was part of a painting.
In that moment, with Natalie so close, Josh felt that he was like Piers from the song. His dream had come true ton
After a while, Natalie finished playing the piece, Josh watched her with tenderness and finally walked over to her.
Noticing the look in his eyes, Natalie grew nervous. Josh approached Natalie, lifted her in his arms, and carried her toward the bedroom. Natalie clutched the front of his shirt nervously
Once they were in the bedroom, Josh gently laid Natalie on the bed and looked into her eyes. “Has Brian been close with you?” Josh asked when he suddenly locked eyes with her.
“I” Natalie started, but before she could continue, Josh leaned in and kissed her lips. His gaze remained intense, his voice slightly rough as he pressed, “Hashe? Josh insisted, his voice coaxing, determined to get an answer,
“No… No,” Natalie managed to say. Tightly holding her hands together, Natalie turned her face to the side, her voice sluky. The hungry. Can we go have dinner finu?” Natalie asked
Josh stopped. A few seconds passed and then he smiled. “Okay” he agreed.
Natalie sighed with relief.
Josh appeared to be engrossed in his work on the tablet at the table. When Natalie came down, he motioned for the staff to set the table. “You should eat more, Josh commented. “You’re too skinny”
Recalling the earlier incident, Natalie stayed quiet, her cheeks turning pink.
After the meal, she went upstairs. Sitting on the edge of the bed, she was conflicted. She reassured herself. There’s no need to fight it. It’s normal for married couples, right?”
After a while, the door was opened. Josh had finished his work in the study and had come back. Seeing him. Natalie stood up.
“I’m sorry about earlier,” Natalie stammered. She realized she shouldn’t have avoided him.
Josh caught the nervous look in her eyes. He was about to speak. But before he could, Natalie reached out, untied her robe belt, and let it fall
Josh looked at her intensely. Her body was beautiful. The curtains fluttered in the breeze. With a smile, Josh walked over to the bed and lifted Natalie, gently setting her down on it. The bed dipped slightly under their combined weight
When Natalie woke up the next morning, it was already nine o’clock. The room had a soft scent of mint
Natalie stirred. Sunlight poured through the window, and with her eyes half–open, she was momentarily dazed. Suddenly, she heard a low voice say, “Morning,”
She turned at the sound of Josh’s voice. There was Josh, fully dressed, propped on his arm, watching her. His gaze was intense, and Natalie wondered how long he had been looking at her.
