chapter 17
Back to the Present Day
When Xavior and Clara woke up, they felt refreshed and not tired. He told her to continue the act with the fake behavior and not to change the plans since they would change their projects, which would trap Felix, the king, his mother, and all their pack members. Just have to figure out who exactly they are.
Xavior calls the alphas, which Felix is to do, but he is detained doing other things with King Matthew. He returns home early that morning. Clara’s guards and her brother’s warrior kept the king and Felix busy so the real Xavior could do his business. He advised all the alphas’ on what was happening and how the plan would differ from the initially depicted plan. They all agreed to go along with the plan that Felix was giving out. In turn, they knew what Alpha Xavior wanted them to achieve, entrapment against Felix.
The king and Xavior return to the castle to do work, but Xavior excuses himself to return to Clara’s bedroom to make those phone calls that he was supposed to make. When he arrived, new guards were outside the hallway guarding her door. They had strict orders not to let anyone in and to warn when ‘Xavior’ had come.
Clara had moved the others to her secret passage and told them to turn their phones off so that he could not hear the phones ring if they received a call or text. They agreed to her requests, but she told her mate to have his beta call Felix to move him out of the room so that they could do more work.
“Where do you think you are going?” one of the guards said with a booming voice.
“Move, or I’ll break your neck, pup,” he yelled.
“Our apologies, but nobody is allowed in the princess’s bedroom.” one guard said.
She linked with the guard to let him in, but the guard just smirked at him behind his back, knowing what would happen. Only a select few knew about the change of plans, just in case a mole in the castle reported back to Felix and Libby.
Xavior pushed through their barrier and walked through the door, yelling for Clara to come to see him. He walked through her entire suite and was not able to find her. Clara appears out of nowhere, scaring the shit out of him. He grabs his phone when his phone rings.
“Hello,” he says into the phone.
“Felix, there is an uproar in the pack.” someone yells into the phone.
“What the hell is going on in my pack?” he exclaims angrily, forgetting that Clara is sitting near him.
“What do you want? I told you not to call me. I am on a mission, damn it!” he says while Clara sits, smirking to herself as he just gave himself away.
“Alpha, Libby is here with a guest, and she wants you back at your house now. Please hurry; she is on a rampage of wanting to kill anyone who gets in the way, not telling her where you are at.”
“Put that bitch on the phone now.”
“Where are you, darling?”
“Do not ‘darling’ me, you bitch; get the hell off my territory, or I will have my beta kill you now! Furthermore, it is none of your business what the fucking hell I do!”
“My, my, my, such a temper, Felix. I would think twice about using that tone with me as you know what I can do to your entire pack if I want to.”
“Get out now!”
He hangs up the phone, grabs his jacket, and leaves, mumbling to himself. He does not let Clara know what is happening but runs out the door and down the hall ordering a pack member to get his car. He goes to the king’s office and tells Matthew that he has to return to his pack to take care of some business but will return within a day or two.
“Okay, come on out, he’s gone; that was perfect, except we need his phone to put the plant. He’ll come back, and we must distract him from his phone to do that.” Clara sighs.
“Did he give himself away when he was on the phone?” Dunken asked Clara.
“Yep, he sure did, and that was Libby on the phone with him.” She staged.
“I put the tracker on his car before one of the members came to get it. We can also track his GPS in his vehicle when it is turned on,” Scott tells them.
“Good, now we need to do this with the king’s phones and all the vehicles he drives, old and new. Also, we need to hear and see what is being said on the cells, including the texts and emails. See about putting anything on his computer, if possible, to trace those emails and bank accounts. We need videos in his offices and all the rooms he occupies daily and watching to see where he goes and ensure there is something there too. We must have solid evidence that he is as dirty as Felix is. We must watch everyone and trust no one from the castle or the pack, as we do not know who the mole is here.” Xavier tells the group.
Scott and Steven are tech geniuses, but so are their cousins, who will monitor the entire process in a different territory. They are linked to communicate with the pack members but are strictly instructed to share with Clara, Dunken, and Xavior only.
“We must figure out how to get to Libby and get all this set up on her phones and vehicles as well,” Dunken said.
“I got it. We send in Kelly Carlson; she’s not mated and is an excellent tracker and warrior.” Clara heatedly stated.
“I don’t know; she is very fond of the pack and her family, but she is a loner and doesn’t have many friends I know.” Uncle Steven thought.
Clara links Kelly to come into her room. They are friends and have been for a long time, but they are not best friends, as Kelly is happy to be alone.
“Princess, you asked for me to come?”
“Yes, I did request your presence. We have a situation here and looking for some help to do our bidding. What we are about to tell you must be kept secret. There is an impersonator in the castle posing as Xavior. We need to see what he is up to and his end game. This is where you come in.”
“Okay, please tell me what you wish me to do, and I will make an informed decision afterward.”
“Kelly, that is fair enough and all we ask of you. This is Xavior and Dunken, the true alpha and beta; the other is Felix portraying Xavior.”
“I thought that was you the whole time, sorry I assumed wrong, Alpha Xavior.”
“No, do not worry about I was at my pack taking care of my business, then got the call that...well, I surely cannot be in two places at once.”
Xavior chuckles.
“What are you needing that I am being asked for help?”
“We want to send a spy into Libby’s camp of rogues undercover. We know they are working together somehow, and that is not all. King Matthew knows Libby and has been seeing her for a while now?”
“I am sorry, Princess Princess, to hear that. We all have heard the rumors. Please forgive me if I speak out of turn, but when are you taking the thrown?.”
“Kelly, that is what we are trying to do, get the information we need so that I can confront him with the information. If he denies any of it even though we have proof, I will Challenge him to death. Please do not repeat this; we cannot trust anyone.”
They have written down everything that needs to be done and who they are trying to get the information from. Clara is nervous because she does not trust anyone but Kinslie, her cousin. She would have used her, but she is mated to the Kingsley, their head warrior, and trainer.
“You have beautiful green eyes and are a loner and like to keep to yourself, which is one of the reasons why we chose you. We would like you to go into her camp as a rogue, set up cameras, and tap all Libby’s phones, including all her vehicles.
“The next time she comes here to visit, although she has been kicked out, we must follow her to where she lives. That way, you can infiltrate her camp and be our spy.”
“Okay, I get what you are saying that you want me to infiltrate her camp and stay to spy on everyone there. But, if she is not allowed to come here, why not follow the king there instead?.”
“Huh, why did you not think about that, Clara?” Xavior says jokingly.
" This is what we thought what your rogue would be like. Loner, no friends, able to work for others, have a negative body image, weak as a human, but the wolf is immensely stronger than normal, possesses magic, and you would have died for your king and pack. But you got kicked out of our pack and castle for not protecting the king or the Princess.” Dunken explains.
“Wow, that is a lot, but I can add what I want to this, right?”
“You can do what you want, but we must stay in contact at least once a week. Write anything down, even if it is not significant—record conversations with her and everyone. We want to know everything that goes on. Who comes in and out stays for a long time. Anything and everything is significant to us.” Xavior says.
“I can mask my scent, even change it to make myself stinky, I possess some magic, but not much I will have Mom teach me...ooo I can use that as an excuse to gain access to their camp. I want to practice magic, and you all exiled me because of it. I do not have to tell them I am from this pack but a different one, so that would make it easier to get in for a while, get the intel you need, and then move on.” Kelly says.
“Correct, but only if you want to do this; we know you are not mated; that is one reason why we pulled you and asked if you want to handle the task.”
“What if I find my mate while in the rogue camp? What should I do then?”
“You can accept him or her and fully become rogue, bring them back here, and we will explain everything but have to put him in the cells to make sure he does not run back blow your cover or our operation, or you can reject them and hope to get a better mate.”
She looks over the papers, reads them carefully once again, and starts coming up with a back story that would work exceptionally well with their plan.
“I’m all in. Now when would you like me to leave?”
“Are you sure you want to do this?”
“Yes, I am so excited to go. It will be an adventure for me. I wanted to leave to find my mate, so I might run into them.”
“Kelly, why didn’t you come to me and tell me? I would have granted the leave.” Clara stated.
“As we told you before, he is in cahoots with Libby somehow, and we want to know what that is. He only talks to me about the business aspect of the kingdom and how to run it. But I have been doing some of the biddings with businesses that we have to help keep the pack running. He doesn’t know it. I will confront him at some point and challenge him for the thrown.?”
“Princess, we are friends; I know you never had much of a childhood nor many friends. I have always considered you a friend, but your father always made it hard for me and others to come around.”
“It’s okay; I know the truth of who I am and have been secretly leaving this pack to train with my family, so it’s not a biggie. Plus, I got these big brains here to help me train extra for what I need.”
They laughed and started planning for her to leave and when the day would happen. One of them would drop her off in a couple of days so that she could get to know what it is like being a rogue, but also to say goodbye to her family.
