From Here to Ecstasy

Chapter 91 - Quick Getaway

Dedicated to oddball and N.Y.O.B. Thank you for making my day a little brighter. Hang with me for another chapter or two. There's about to be intrigue, drama, and pain.

Recap

“My mate is so handsome. You know me, I don’t look at men like all the other girls do. I’ve never been interested in anyone. I wasn’t going to date someone and give them all my firsts away,” Windy remarked. “He trains the warriors.”

“Well, I guess we are going to go look at the warriors. I need to anyway. I need to make sure he’s up to the challenge of protecting you.”

“I can protect myself!” I exclaimed. You will do no such thing, Sonny! I don’t want you to hurt him.” Windy growled and slapped my arm.

“Well, I guess we will have to see, especially if I tell you we are going,” I joked, making sure Windy knew I wasn’t serious as we walked into the dining room and stopped.

Sonny’s POV

“Uh, did the kitchen throw up?” I tentatively asked as I looked between Marylyn and my mom. There was so much food in the dining room. Every kind of food. Mexican, Tai, Italian, Breakfast, and a whole boatload of sides.

“Of course not,” Orion answered, a sly smile on his face.

“We wanted to do something nice for you two. Everyone brought their favorite covered dish for this party.” Aurora looked between Windy and me. “Surprise.”

“No, thank you all. This is really nice. We were floored a little. You didn’t need to get up early for this but thank you,” I honestly remarked as I looked at the people of our pack.

I heard Windy sniffle a little. “Thank you. Thank you for doing this for us and being here to share in this meal.”

Everyone I could see had a sly smirk on their faces. They all straightened up and bowed low to us, the warriors bowing with their fist against their chest. I shook my head and turned my head towards my parents. Of course, they were wearing identical smirks on their faces.

I snickered and Windy huffed. I busted out laughing as Windy and the pack joined us. My parents were crazy but a good kind of crazy. I finally got my breath back from laughing hard. “Let’s eat!”

Everyone moved to their seat and waited for us to sit in our seats before they took theirs. Windy and I grabbed a spoonful of food and took a bite, moaning at the taste. We were going to be so full we wouldn’t be able to fight if we had to. Oh well, I wasn’t wasting what was made for us. I decided to take a spoonful of each platter on the table. It was the way I could see it being fair to our pack. I noticed Windy had done the same thing as me.

After forty- minutes I was full and tasted everything our pack had made for us. I knew we needed to go real soon. I was wondering what we would step into when we came out of our teleport. I knew we had to be vigilant to keep our asses alive. I was trying to stay upbeat. I tried to be calm. I tried to not shudder at the idea of hundreds of people looking at us. But, it couldn’t be helped and my wolf had already told me he would help with my anxiety.

I stood up and thanked everyone again, letting them know how much I enjoyed all their dishes. I made sure to let them know to eat more as we had to leave. There were a lot of jokes, a lot of tears, and a whole lot of love. I touched each of their wolves and thanked them individually.

The dining room cleared out, some of them helping in the kitchen, and some of them going to their jobs. Now, it was just my family, tears running down their faces. I didn’t want this emotional roller coaster. I wanted them to be calm so I wouldn’t join them in their cry-fest. Windy and I pulled each of them to us, hugging and kissing their cheeks. Now, it was just our parents.

“No! I won’t let you go. You two are my babies,” my mom wailed, huge sobs racking her body.

I knew this was going to happen. It didn’t make it any easier knowing how she would react. It was painful seeing my mom sobbing as if her heart was broken. “Mom? We are only going to be a teleport away. You can spell us more before we go, but you need to let us go. We have an obligation to our supernatural community. You know that. Please don’t make it harder than it is,” I begged, my eyes on hers. I took a breath when she nodded. I didn’t want this to be harder than it was. She needed to get used to the idea, the same way we needed to get used to everyone bowing to us.

“Okay. I’m okay. We can visit whenever we want?” My mom pleaded with her eyes.

I sighed. “Yes, Mom.” She smiled as if she won the lottery. “But, if we are in a meeting then you will need to wait until we are out of the said meeting, okay?”

She nodded her head vigorously. “Okay.”

She ran over to me and hugged me hard, kissing me on the cheek before she went over to Windy. Our mom was talking to Windy as I walked over to my dads’. My dad, Blaine, gave me a hard sideways hug. My other dad, Zane, pulled me into a hug and kissed my forehead. My dad, Zane, had always been more of a mother hen than my dad, Blaine. They evened each other out.

“Mom!” Windy yelled out, her face red. I knew mom was talking about her mate, embarrassing the hell out of her.

I shook my head at them both. “It’s time for us to get our bags and go. We need to be there exactly at five. Mom, quit talking about sex to my sister. I think she can figure out what to do on her own.”

“But-”

“-Honey, you can’t tell her any more than she already knows. It’s nice for her to figure out things on her own, plus, we don’t want the castle to think she was mad or scared,” my dad, Zane, explained as she rolled her eyes.

“Love you. We will be fine,” I told them as I booked it out of the dining room, Windy following me after she told them the same thing. I didn’t want a repeat of mom’s tears.

“We have ten seconds to get there. We need to stay in the shadows until the hand on the clock reaches five, okay?” I asked Windy, making sure she knew what was on my mind.

“I’ll follow your lead,” she replied as she followed me to our suitcases

I was going to leave our suitcases in the woods closer to the castle. I didn’t want anyone to know who we were. I wanted to see how they treated us and how many warriors let me pass without stopping us. It was a test to see how they acted, protected, or not protected.

We scooped up our suitcases. “Why are we bringing these with us now? You know we could teleport them to us without a problem,” Windy asked.

I dropped my suitcases and laughed. “Okay, it’s a better idea than I had.” I looked down at my watch, making sure we made it on time.

We both heard, “Three, two, one,” from our grandmother, teleporting when she got to one. This was going to be a lesson in patience.
