Chapter 81 - Here We go Again
Recap
I had to pack. I knew I needed to, but it felt as if the weight of the world was on my shoulders. I decided to meditate to get rid of the stress - something my mother had taught all of us. I sat down on the floor and closed my eyes, breathing out the anxiety and breathing in calmness. I didn’t know how long I had sat on the floor and I didn’t care.
I opened my eyes and looked around. “Come out now!” I commented, a growl in my voice.
Sonny's POV
They bowed. “King Sonny, we mean you know harm. We are here to give you much-needed information.”
I narrowed my eyes on two, a vampyre and a wolf. “And, you two are here to murder me?”
“No, Sire, we are here to give you information,” the vampyre answered.
I heard Windy teleport to my room. She stayed invisible and stood behind the two. “Why don’t I believe you. I believe these three but not you. Do you think me an idiot?” I turned to the other three, knowing Windy had my back. “I’ll speak to you in a few minutes.”
“Now, tell me why you are here?” I commanded the two as I walked closer to them. I could tell they were trying to fight the command.
“We are here to kill you before you make it to the castle!”They yelled as they tried to move towards me.
“Having a problem walking, are we? You thought you could show up in my bedroom and kill me?” I asked as I turned around and grabbed the man at my shoulder. I grabbed his hand and crushed it, causing the blade he held to fall to the ground. “Oh yay, “ I said dryly. “I have another shit trying to kill me. You can go and stand with the other shits.”
More freaking Visitors?
Please give me strength.
“There’s no one else in the room, Sonny,” Windy notified me through our mind-link as I placed a spell over the room.
“Go ahead and show yourself. I want these fuckers to know they were inches away from being killed,” I told Windy as a big smile spread across my face.
Windy showed herself. “You would have lost had you moved,” my sister whispered sarcastically, causing all three of them to jump.
“So, you see I’m never alone, right Trace, Chase, Ander, Asher, and Mom?” I asked, rolling my eyes at my family’s babying.
I watched as all three of the liar's eyes widened as they looked at my mom. Seriously? I’m the King. Oh well, I will always have back-up. Maybe it’s a good thing. Or, maybe not.
The vampyre smirked at me. “You need your mommy to help you? How rich,” he commented sarcastically.
I stalked over to the vampyre, my movement slow but heavy. “No, I don’t need my mother. As you can tell she is on the other side of the room.” I looked at the corner of my room. “Hey, King Maximus, would you like to take this piece of trash with you? I’m sure you have been looking for her.”
I watched as Maximus threw his head and laughed. “You’re a great Royal King, Sonny. I’ll take this one with me. If I may ask, will you command her like you’ve done the others? I’m still working out the kinks in my prison”
The vampyres’ eyes widened. “But, of course." I turned to the women. "Veronica! You will go with King Maximus. You will not give him any problems. You will stay in prison even if you get a chance to escape.”
“King Sonny, we can take him to our cells if you would like,” Trace and Chase commented at the same time while pointing out who they were talking about.
Like, I didn't know who.
I kept my shudder to myself. “Please do. Make sure he can’t escape, okay?”
“No problem,” they said as they gestured and circled their wrists.
I could see the cat shifter trying to do anything he could to keep from going with these two children. I could read his thoughts about my brothers, the worry about how they could be so strong. He didn’t like kids doing anyone’s dirty work. He thought he could escape as soon as the spell dropped.
“Oh, and, Cameron, you will not escape the cells even if you do have a chance,” I commanded him as I turned back to Cameron and walked over to the other three men.
I could see one of the men shaking. He was afraid and I didn’t know why. “Sorry, Royal King Sonny, but I thought they were trustworthy. If you need to punish anyone it should be me,” the man confessed as he knelt in front of me.
“Stand up, man, I’m not a King who uses violence on those who make a mistake. Now, if you were bowing because you caught doing something wrong I wouldn’t have a problem punishing you.” I knelt down and grabbed the man’s hands, pulling him to his feet. I could tell he was surprised by me but I didn’t have time to play around.
“You had something you needed to tell me?” I asked the three men in front of me as I sat on the chair around my fireplace, gesturing for them to do the same.
“Yes, Royal King,” one of the men affirmed as the men sat down on one of the other chairs. “We were told to come here and measure you for your royal vestments. We are to make your clothes for every occasion.”
“Thank you, men, what do you need me to do?” I asked, surprising the three men.
“Uh, w-we need t-to take y-your measurements,” the man speaking for all of the others stuttered.
“Great. We can get this done right now.” I stood up, readying myself for something I didn’t want to start with. I watched the men jump up and bow to me as they pulled measuring tapes from their pockets.
“Thank you, Royal King Sonny.”
“Windy, watch their hands, okay?” I asked using a mind-link between Beta and King. I found the little nugget of information from my wolf. He had been teaching all sorts of things.
I knew my wolf and Windy’s wolf were watching these men. I could feel our wolves getting ready to strike at a second’s notice. I felt as if I could trust these men but until I knew for sure I would be watching them. Who am I kidding? I would be watching everyone around me and I’m sure so would Windy.
“We have one more measurement, Royal King, but only I can measure you. If you could please, we need to head to your washroom,” another man stated as he looked at me, letting me read his mind.
I nodded. “Men, I will be right back.” I stopped and walked towards my door before anyone could knock.
“I was told to bring refreshments to our guests,” Orion, Marylyn’s daughter said as she bowed a little.
“Thank you, Orion. I can take it from here,” I told her, grabbing the tray from her hand and smiling a fake smile. She knew I didn’t want her in my room with unknowns. She nodded her head and left the room. I kicked the door shut and walked over to the oval table in the center of the chairs we had sat on.
“Here you go, men. If you will excuse me I’m going to finish my measurements, so help yourselves,” I told them as I told Winter to watch them and not to let any of them by the bathroom door.
The man and I walked into my washroom. I spelled the room to be soundproofed. I didn’t trust the other men as much as I trusted this one. I couldn’t put my finger on why, but he felt right.
“Royal King, I need to tell you something but I don’t want the other men to hear me,” the man, Henry, whispered.
Shit!
Here we go again.
