Chapter 73 - Information Overload
Recap:
“Belle?” I waited for her to look at me. “Why can’t we just read your mind and get the information that way?”
She huffed and crossed her arms over her chest. “I understand why you think reading my mind would help you and the King. But, if I get my mind read by one of the vampyres, witches, or anyone else I wouldn’t be a very good spy. So, my mind needs to stay blank. Understand? Good. How about we listen to me and find out what to do?” Oh, this bitch was not going to speak to me as if I was some little girl.
Hell to the no!
I decided....
Willow’s POV
I decided she needed to be slapped but as soon as I had that thought Sonny had grabbed my hand and squeezed, letting me know he was reading my mind. Again. I looked up at him and narrowed my eyes. Sonny shook his head and nodded to Belle.
“You need to listen. Yes, she was rude but we need to know what’s going on, okay? We can’t let people get to us or we can’t do our job as Royals,” Sonny explained, turning his back towards Belle and nodding his head for her to continue.
I sighed and paid attention to Bell, the bitch, and listened to her drone on and on. I knew my wolf was listening and she would take every word she said, memorizing everything, or I could pull the discussion back up and hear every word again. I wanted to be a good Beta and I would need to calm my temper before we got to the castle, so I was a very quiet girl and listened to everything she said.
Belle said something that caught my attention.”What do you mean your dad’s one of the King’s advisors and you are watching him closely?”
“Just what I said.” She sighed and rolled her neck around. “My dad is crooked. He’s been the same way from the time I was born. Don’t take a drink from him. Don’t eat anything he offers you, although you will have tasters to check your food. Don’t trust any information he offers. I have noticed he has a spy for the defunct King and Queen of the vampyres. He thinks they would be the better choice for King and Queen of the supernaturals. I’m sure they have offered him money and a position in their kingdom. He’s an idiot that thinks he won’t be caught.”
“He’s in agreement with their project of making skinwalkers? Damn, he really is an idiot. He would be one of their experiments,” I commented as I looked at her.
She shook her head. “He’s the worst person I know. If he thinks he can take both of you on. But, don’t hold back on my account if you go after him. He’s never been a father to me. I found out how manipulative he is when I was fifteen and he tried to marry me off to one of his disgusting friends. The King and Queen saved me at my wedding. When the pastor asked if anyone had any objection they both stood up and smiled, letting my father know he would not allow the marriage. I was so thankful that I ran to him and hugged the shit out of him.” She laughed. “He hugged me back and asked to move into the castle. He was the one who got me to be a spy. I was good at it, too.”
I laughed at the thought of her running to the King. “Well, at least you got out of the marriage, but I can imagine what your father said to you about it later.”
She nodded, not confirming anything her father said and got back to business. We went over things three times, Belle wanting to go over it again.
“How about a test? We can show you how good our memory is,” I asked, wanting to go pack my bags and spend time with my siblings and parents.
“I’ll write one up real quick and then I need to be on my way. I have a long run tonight-” she tried to say.
“-I’ll teleport you there real quick when you’re ready, okay?” Trace asked, giving me a cheesy smile.
“Thank you, Trace,” Belle answered as she kept writing our test.
Trace furrowed his brows and looked at me in question. “Yes, she is a little hateful and full of herself. She comes off gruff, but she does care about the kingdom, so it’s okay.” Trace nodded his head and disappeared.
I swear Trace loved to teleport everyone. He loved to see new places and new people. He loved scaring people too. Crazy little dude. Speaking of scaring and little, my youngest brothers teleported right in front of me, causing me to jump back a little and dropped into my fighting stance.
“We got you, Winter. You will need to pay more attention to your surroundings at the castle. Go up in your mind in your room, okay,” Ander informed me as he smiled at me.
I nodded at him, reaching down to pick up both of my younger brothers. I was going to miss these two. I didn’t want to miss them growing up. They were always fun to hang around with. They came up with ways to terrorize Trace and Chase.
“We are going to miss you too, Windy. We will come to see you when we can, okay?” Asher and Ander said together through their wolves.
I shook my head a little, my eyes wide. I had never heard their wolves talk at the same time. It was taking me time to correct my scrambled brains. Of course, my brothers were chuckling.
“Did you two figure out a way to torture everyone by talking to them at the same time, using your wolves?” Star, my wolf, asked a proud gleam in her eyes.
“Yes, Star. It was time for some new tactics we may use on our enemies later,” they both said, using their wolves. I was about to say something when my eyes rolled back.
