Chapter 72 - Piss on Them
Recap
“Okay, then. Would you come back to me?” I sighed again. She did have a point. Everyone did want to know how we were going to play with each other. But, I would have preferred telling everyone first before I showed them. She probably scared the new King.
New King?
“Hey, what happened to the old King?” I asked as I looked at my grandmother with narrowed eyes.
Willow’s POV
“He died of natural causes hundreds of years ago. It’s the reason we have Kings of each species.” I opened my mouth to speak. “We will be keeping the Kings and Queens over each species, but they will answer to Sonny.”
I nodded my head, happy to know Maximus would still be the King of his people. I didn’t think he would mind Sonny being over him. He was pretty chill. I liked him and didn’t want him to be mad at us.
“Uh, Windy? Fucking pay attention!” Star yelled.
I grabbed ahold of my head. “Stop yelling!” I yelled out, not realizing I said anything out- loud.
“Honey, are you okay,” my mom asked.
“Sorry, but Star is yelling in my head. I guess I need to listen to her,” I told my mom.
I looked up at my grandmother, pulling my hands from my ears, a sheepish look on my face. I didn’t want her to think I was some bubbling idiot.
She gave me a hard look.“As I was saying, you and Sonny will be leaving tomorrow. Somehow they found out that we have a new King and new Beta. I was hoping to give you a little more time but they know now. You need to pack some clothes and toiletries. Sonny, you will have garb you will wear-”
“-garb, as in a robe? I’m fine with wearing my usual attire. I will wear the robe at trials and special occasions,” Sonny told our grandmother.
“You can wear what you like. I just thought they would want to see a King in their splendor,” my grandma said as she nodded her head. “I think it would be a great idea to fit in. It should help you with your people. The advisors may be upset but you’re their King.”
“What happens if he doesn’t like his advisors? And, I will wear my tanks, jeans, and shit-kickers.” I looked over at my mom. “Sorry, Mom.” My mom nodded her head as my dads narrowed their eyes.
My grandmother coughed, bringing my attention back to her. “He can pick his advisors or overrule them. I’m sure it will piss on them a lot.” Every one of us, kids included, threw our heads back and laughed. “What?”
“It’s piss them off a lot, Mom, not piss on them a lot,” my mom answered, snickering.
“Oops. I’m still learning all these new words, so sue me,” she huffed as she crossed her arms over her chest. “Anyway, someone told them their new King and Beta have been born.” Sonny and I looked at her funny. “Not born as a newborn but born as the King’s wolf and the Beta wolf have picked who they deemed worthy.”
I nodded my head, tilting my head slightly. I put a finger to my lips and teleported into the hallway, noticing someone who didn’t belong. I couldn’t smell any scent coming from the person. I walked up behind the person as quietly as I could, grabbing hold of the person’s neck. “Who the hell are you?” I spat out.
“Uh, no one of importance,” the female said.
I spun her around and put my arm across her throat. I had never seen this woman in my life. “What is your name?” I bit out.
“Windy, you can let go of her. I know this person,” the Moon Goddess told me.
I took three steps back and raised my eyebrow. “Okay. Who is she?”
“She’s a spy for me. She lives at the Royal Castle,” she told me as the woman bowed.
“Is everyone going to bow for a whole different reason now?” I asked my grandmother as the woman’s eyes went wide.
“Granddaughter, you are the Royal Beta,” my grandmother explained.
“How do I make it stop?”
“Make it stop? Not only are you the Moon Goddess’s granddaughter but you are also a Royal Beta!” the woman exclaimed.
“And?” I shook my head and walked back into my parent's office.
“Get used to, Windy! You are a Royal Betal. Notice I said Royal,” my wolf huffed. “It’s how it is at court. Just nod your head once and keep doing what you were doing, okay?”
“Okay.”
I really hated for people to bow to me, but I knew I would need to let it slide. I hoped I could go with the flow without shuddering. I guess I would have to see.
“Fucking pay attention, Windy,” my wolf, Star, sternly said.
I looked up, clearing my mind of my own thoughts, and noticed everyone in the office had their arms crossed over their chest and were smirking at me. I rolled my eyes and gestured for my grandma to speak.
“Now that we have Windy’s attention,” she narrowed her eyes at me as I gulped and nodded my head. “You two will be leaving for court tomorrow.” She pointed at the spy.” She is our spy. She works for you, Sonny. You need to listen to her to know where the drop off points are. She will leave you information and you can do the same, understand?”
My grandmother looked at me. “Windy, she works in the castle as a housekeeper for the King and Beta. But, she really leaves messages for both of you. There will be times she needs to leave them elsewhere but she will leave a message in one of her other hiding spots. You will need to listen when Belle tells you where these places are, got it?”
“ Yes, ma’am,” I cheekily answered, watching as she rolled her eyes and huffed at me.
Sonny and I walked over to the woman, Belle. I was up in my mind again, but I had a good reason. I couldn’t understand why we couldn’t read her mind. It would have been easier for us. I knew I needed to pull myself back together and listen to what she was saying.
“Bell?” I waited for her to look at me. “Why can’t we just read your mind and get the information that way?”
She huffed and crossed her arms over her chest. “I understand why you think reading my mind would help you and the King. But, if I get my mind read by one of the vampyres, witches, or anyone else I wouldn’t be a very good spy. So, my mind needs to stay blank. Understand? Good. How about we listen to me and find out what to do?” Oh, this bitch was not going to speak to me as if I was some little girl.
Hell to the no!
I decided....
A/N: Sorry about the cliffhanger.
