Chapter 14 - Grab & Go
Recap:
I watched as my grandma walked around the wolves, touching the ones whose souls were completely black, skipping the wolves who were redeemable. She ended back in front of the Beta.
“Can you help me with something, Trace and Chase?” She asked my brothers.
Griffith's POV
Trace and Chase appeared beside our grandma, causing the wolf to jump. “Of course we can, grandma. But, we are going to need to move some people back.”
I quickly ordered my pack to back up. I knew what they were going to do, but my pack had no idea. They were going to be totally shocked and afraid. Hopefully I could calm them down. It wasn’t an easy thing to see.
After everyone moved back, Trace and Chase teleported several wolves from my pack, nodding his head at me and our grandma. They threw their hands wide. A crack appeared in the ground, getting bigger by the second. Several shadow demons came up from the crack. There were screams from my pack and the other pack, but the Beta’s scream was the loudest.
I noticed a shadow demon grab Henry, my lazy warrior. He must have been guilty of more than I could read off of him in a short period of time. The shadow demon wouldn’t have taken him otherwise.
After the demons went back into the hole Trace and Chase clapped their hands, closing the hole and healing the earth. They clapped their hands together and looked at our grandma. Each of them saluted her and disappeared as if they were never here.
I walked over to the Gamma, releasing him from the spell on him. He sank to his knees as he shook. I knelt down in front of him. “You’re the Alpha now. You should have been from the very beginning. I feel the power coming from you. Treat your pack right and kill the wolves who go against the Moon Goddess’ teaching or you might be the next one in the hole.”
He looked up at me. “I will. I never had any idea that Willow wasn’t his mate. I thought she was afraid of him and didn’t want him as a mate. As for the other women, I didn’t know. I’m sorry.”
“Don’t tell me you’re sorry, tell them, okay?” I pulled him up to his feet and steadied him.
He bowed his head to my grandma. “I’m sorry. I plan on letting the women know how sorry I am, too. I will keep your teachings. My parents taught me better. I know they will be happy to know I’ve changed my ways. Thank you for giving me another chance, one I won’t waste.”
“Good. Gather your pack members and treat them right.”
I watched as he asked his pack members if they were ready to go home. I was happy to hear him ask them instead of ordering them. What most Alpha's didn't know - it's easier to get things done if you're not acting an asshole. All of them changed into their wolves and disappeared, as if they were never at my pack. I guess things could have been a lot worse. I knew I still needed to calm my pack down. I could feel their fear.
I turned to my pack mates and opened my mouth. A she-wolf walked up and slid her finger down my Beta’s chest as she walked by. I could see the anger on Haley and Kaley's face, but it changed to one of neutrality. So, my sister’s knew this she-bitch, their thoughts, not mine. I’m sure I would change my mind in a few seconds.
“As all of you know." She paused and looked at her friends. "If the Beta female is not marked, then they can be challenged for the position of Beta female. I’m challenging the two sluts, the ‘Beta females’ for their position,” the she-bitch said, emphasizing Beta females.
I raised an eyebrow at her. “I don’t know you. Are you even from this pack. I can’t tell with all the smells on you.”
“She’s the one who couldn’t make it to the meeting because she had something important to do. More like she was doing Henry and ignored your order. The witch thinks she can take our mate after she rejected him.” Kaley sneered at the she-bitch as she walked closer. “Challenge accepted.
“Challenge accepted,” Haley parroted Kaley’s words.
“I only have to beat one of you,” she whined in her nasally voice.
“Wrong,” I told her, moving away from her as she checked me out. I wanted to shudder or vomit, probably both. If she thought I would touch her with a hundred-foot pole then she was crazier than I thought she was.
No way, no how.
“I’m still challenging them. I can beat them both without any problems. I'm sure they've never been in a fight in their lives. I don't know how they expect to beat me. I was trained by one of the warriors.”
"I think you meant, you were trained to lay on your back by one of the warriors," Haley sang out as she smiled at the she-bitch.
I shook my head and decided it would be a good time to get these challenges done. I was hungry and sleepy. “It’s your funeral,” I told her as I shrugged my shoulders and turned to Micah, rolling my eyes. “Beta, will you do the honors of getting this challenge going?” I saw him nod his head, moving quickly to my sister’s and kissing them.
