Recap

I felt myself falling to the ground. “Get her!” I yelled to anyone who could hear me. I felt my mate’s arms around me. I knew they were trying to heal me but something wasn’t right. My head spun and I couldn’t focus on anything. I tried talking, my mouth opening and closing, but nothing was coming out.

I heard fighting but I couldn’t pinpoint what was going on. I heard screeches and thuds but that was it. I didn’t want to be held, I wanted to fight. I wanted to help wipe them clean off the face of this world, but nope, I was slowly losing conscience.

“Take her home and have the doc look at her, but tell him to take her blood first,” was the last thing I heard Blaine order, knowing I wasn’t going to get to fight.

Damnit!

Blaine’s POV

I heard the gunshot when it went off, causing all of us to duck even though it was too late. When I pushed myself back up I checked Summer and almost panicked. I saw her checking us out not knowing she was the one who was hurt. My heart was pounding hard in my chest, my stomach aching from her pain, my breath ceasing to come. I was frozen in place and couldn’t move. I wanted to run to her but I couldn't.

“Please, Goddess, no," I thought. ”Not our mate.”

I saw her sway on her feet as she looked down in shock. I watched as Zane picked her up. I made sure he knew to take care of her and then I turned and looked at the Bruja, making note of where the shot came from, knowing my younger sons would know their mother was hurt and would take her out. It wasn’t a few moments later when I heard the screech of the witch who shot my mate.

I moved toward the Bruja as she walked backward, Griffith, Kaiden, their mates, Asher, and Ander stalking with me. I wasn’t going to kill her in anger, no, I was just going to kill her for all the evil she had done.

“And, for shooting our mate,” my wolf threw in, causing me to almost chuckle.

The Bruja screeched, making my ears, literally, bleed. I shook my head and smirked at her. I could see she was shaking as she kept stepping back. She wasn’t getting away today. I was tired of their bullshit and wanted a nice day with my mate, but she took it away from me. I wanted to be with my mate and know what was happening with her. I hadn't heard anything at all from Zane and my heart was breaking not knowing if she was alive or...

No!

She’s not dead.

Just as I thought she was out of little followers to her sick games, I saw someone start to teleport behind her, knowing it was one of her friends coming to take her away, making me move quickly. She was not going with them even if I had to play teleport tag. I was ready for her to be dead. I wanted to know what happened to my mate and what the hell kind of poison did they use on her.

Stupid shits.

“Stop!” I heard from behind me, knowing full well it was Sonny and Kat. “My family may move, but you two vampyres and all of the witches need to show yourself.” He waited for a beat. “Now!”

I should have known the defunct King and Queen would be involved in all of this shit. They told my family they would take us down one day, but I thought they were smarter than they were.

Not.

“Well, look who the wolf dragged in. I should have known you two were involved. It seems your little shit show was for nothing, right Royal Alpha King and Queen?” I asked as I bowed to them, keeping my eye on the Bruja.

“Right,” Kat answered as I heard her snap her fingers, releasing the spell from the witches.

I noticed several of the witches fall to the ground as they rocked their bodies back and forth, crying and mumbling about the atrocities they had committed. It dawned on me that these poor witches were spelled to obey the others, making me feel for them. The others stood beside the defunct King and Queen, smirking at Kat, a smirk I knew they were going to lose soon. Kat wasn't someone you wanted to mess with.

I almost fell over when a golden rope shot out from behind me and wrapped itself around the smirking witches, leaving the old fuckers free but unable to move due to Sonny's command. I turned and looked at Kat in question but saw Windy smirking instead.

“Just a friendly, well, friendly to me, present from my Beta wolf,” I heard Windy say. I chuckled and stalked forward more, luring the Bruja into my trap. I knew there used to be two of them but I wasn’t sure where the other one was.

“The other Bruja is dead and has been dropped in several different volcanoes,” Ander informed me through the mind-link.

“Ding, dong, the witch is dead," my wolf added, causing me to chuckle and startle the Bruja in front of me.

I heard a movement behind me, but knew who it was before I heard his voice. “May I, Royal Alpha King?” I heard him ask as I turned a little sideways to see what he was talking about.

’I’ve passed my sentence on them if you want to take care of it here and now,” I heard Sonny tell him. It didn’t take but a second to figure out what the sentence for the old King and Queen was, especially as I saw their heads roll across the ground. It was gruesome but well deserved.

“Hey, Maximus, are the rest of those vampyres ones you have been looking for?” I asked as I cocked my head to the others standing around with their mouths agape. I had never seen a vampyre as pale as these were. I knew vampyres were pale but not almost translucent. It was as if all the blood they had taken had magically disappeared.

Casper had nothing on them.

Maximus nodded and looked at Sonny, his eyebrow raised. I saw Sonny nod his head and knew these vampyres would be joining their old king and queen. It didn’t take a minute to confirm those thoughts. Their heads rolled right in front of the Bruja, a move I knew was planned.

Good

“What have you done?” The Bruja asked as she looked at the heads and shuddered, narrowing her eyes on Sonny and completely forgetting about me. "How am I supposed to get more skinwalkers?"

Seriously?
