Chapter 128 - Missing
Dedicated to oddball. Thanks for all your ideas and comments.
Recap
We were both startled by hard knocking on the office door. I walked over to the file cabinet while Sonny answered the door. I was trying to act natural but I was still revved up.
“Have you seen Ander? We can’t find him anywhere,” Sonny’s mom asked as I got up and walked to the door.
Sonny’s POV
“The last time I saw Ander was when we were in the cells talking to the fucker.” I stopped talking, my face paling. “The witch disappeared from her cell-”
“-what do you mean she disappeared? Did she take Ander?” My mom shouted questions at me that I didn’t know the answers to.
“I don’t know, Mom. Maybe he followed her, wanting to know where they are located at now-”
“-he didn’t, Sonny. I felt him near and a second later I didn’t feel him anymore.” Asher paused, tears rolling down his cheeks. “I don’t feel him anymore.”
“Okay, calm down, Asher. He’s not dead, I know for sure he’s not. I have a feeling the witch is trying to make us think he’s dead. She’s a powerful witch.”
“Uh-uh, she’s not as powerful as I am, Sonny, even using her black magic she’s not as powerful. We will find him. If you can get me something he loves to wear or his favorite thing I can scry to try and find him,” Kat told all of us.
“Can you use me? I’m the closest thing he had. Us being twins should help,” I heard Asher ask, his pleading with Kat to let him help.
“I need his favorite item and then you can help me scry. It will be more powerful with you helping, okay?” I heard Kat softly tell Asher.
I saw Asher disappear, immediately returning with Ander’s favorite stuffed toy and his favorite shirt, one I had bought him. I walked over with Asher and Kat, cleaning a spot and teleporting the candles she would need for North, South, East, and West. I had seen someone scry before but I had never tried it.
My dads’ walked into the office, along with the rest of my family, Kaiden and Griffith included. I knew everyone was tense and worried but everyone needed to take a breath and not hang over Kat’s shoulders. She needed to be in tune with her magic, not stressed, something I learned about in school.
Everyone must have been reading my mind, they all stepped back and tried to relax, something I knew wouldn’t happen until we had Ander back. I was trying to stay calm myself, knowing Kat would feel the same way I did, but it was easier said than done.
I noticed Kat pointing at each candle, lighting them up with her magic. She held a string with the bear attached, Asher holding it with her. The bear swung back and forth but didn’t land on any certain area of the map she had.
“Shit! This witch is really strong. It will take us a little longer.” She turned and looked at my mom. “Do you have a piece of hair or anything from him? It can be in plastic but it would be something closer than anything else. His DNA is hard to mess with.”
My mom disappeared, reappearing quickly. I knew she was worried about Ander, so was I. I walked over to Kat and cupped her face. “You can do this, Kat. Take a deep breath and clear your mind. We will find him, okay? Do you need my help?”
“I’m fine. Thank you for reminding me to clear my mind. I was starting to panic a little. I love you, Sonny.”
I walked off from her, knowing she wouldn’t need anyone hovering over her. I watched her take a deep breath and hook the hair on a chain, using it as a pendulum. No one said a word, no one moved. We watched as Asher and Kat held the chain over the map.
It took a while for the chain to move, but it settled on the Alveraz territory, well, to the north of his territory. I didn’t know anything about his territory. I was sure my mom knew more than I did. I was trying to figure out what he had on the north of his territory, an area that was between his pack and Alpha Black’s territory.
Kat opened her eyes and gasped. “Oh, no.”
“What is it, Kat?” My mom questioned in a whisper.
“Uh, um.” She took a deep breath. “It’s the dick-wads jail, well, one he used for the women.” She looked at me wide eyed. “But, it’s a place where some unsavory witches worked. I don’t know what they were doing to some of the people there, but I know a lot of them died.” Kat started crying as I walked back over to her and pulled her in my arms.
“We’re going to get him, Sonny. I don’t want them to test on him. We both know what’s going on there. I have to go,” my mom cried out as she hit her heart, one I knew was breaking at the thought of the witches hurting him.
“I think we need to take a few more people with us. We don’t know how many of the witches or whatever supernatural creatures are there. We need to be smart about this. I know you want to go in there with guns blazing, but I want to talk to Elder Wise about his territory, okay?” I explained to my mother, knowing she wanted to move quickly.
“Okay, Sonny, but we need to spell him even more. Do you think we can spell him from this far away?”
I heard Kat grunt, but when I turned she only smiled at me. “We can always use me as a conduit. I can make the spells go all over the world.”
I laughed, figuring out why she grunted. “Okay, let’s do this.”
Everyone joined hands and took a deep breath. We closed our eyes and each of us spelled in our own way. I knew Ander was spelled against any drug out there, any weapon and anything unnatural. I could only pray we had covered anything and everything. I couldn’t stand the stress and heartache on my parent’s faces. I knew they were trying to be stoic and not let anyone know they were hurting but I knew better.
“Now, we plan,” I stated as I called Elder Wise to my office. “Elder Wise is on his way to my office. He knows a lot more about the packs.”
There was a knock on the door. My dad reached over and opened the door for Elder Wise. I knew he was confused as to why he was called, but he would soon know. I hoped and prayed to the Goddess he would know what we asked of him.
He bowed to me. “Can I help with something?”
“What do you know about Alverazs' territory and Alpha Black's? Someone took one of my youngest brothers. I’m sure it was the bitch witch who took him before she escaped, but I don’t know why he would let himself be taken.” I thought about what I said. “He let himself be taken,” I said quietly.
