Dedicated to my dedicated friends and readers oddball and N.Y.O.B. Thank you.
Recap
“Yes, of course,” she answered as she blew out a breath, grabbing her children she had hidden in the pantry. She was still shaking but she was tougher than she thought.
“We need to go before we meet another trespasser who’s just stepped on your pack territory. I can’t wait to meet this wolf, he won’t like me very much. He’s trying to tie up loose ends, so let’s make it a little harder for him...”
The glass broke in the living room window...
Sonny’s POV
The glass broke in the living room as I teleported Kat, Elder Wise, and his mate to the castle, knowing my family would be waiting on them and could protect him. I stood where I was and waited for him to sniff me, well, for both of them to sniff me out.
As soon as they came around the corner I put my hand up, stopping them in their spots. “Well, what a predicament you’re in. Too bad you two will be locked in my cells and won’t have any communication with anyone there.”
“I’m not seeing where you have the upper hand. There are two of us and one of you. I think we got this,” one of the wolves bragged.
"And, why's that? You think you could take me?" I asked, wanting to know what they would say next. "But, your boy, Alveraz, is not here to help you this time." I smiled, antagonizing them even further.
"We don't need Alveraz. We can take you, plus, we will take you to him so he can have his fun, too. What do say, big guy?"
“You think you're going to take me to him? How about I take you to him.” I laughed at their confused faces and leaked my power out slowly, causing the two idiots to lay prostrate on the floor, fighting as much as they could - which wasn't much. “You thought wrong. I’m the Royal Alpha King and you both will be tried for your crimes.” I waved my hand, sending them to the cells, following behind them, and meeting everyone back at my office.
As soon as I showed up, Elder Wise nodded his head at me. I teleported all of us back to my office to see I had an office full of Elders, their mates, and their children. Some you could see had a fight on their hands before my family showed up, but they were getting the care they needed.
“Let’s take this to the conference room, shall we?” I asked as I stood up and noticed everyone had frozen. I looked around me but I didn’t see anyone or sense anyone hiding around me. I turned back around and every one of them bowed.
“You need to talk to them, Sonny, they can’t read your mind,” my sister deadpanned through the mind-link as she smirked at me and I rolled my eyes.
“You may rise,” I told them as the Elder’s snickered at my rolled eyes. I didn’t think I was ever going to get used to the bowing. “Well, as you can tell I’m the Royal Alpha King, but you can ask your mates about me. I don’t know what all the other kings were like, but I rule under the order to treat everyone with respect and honesty. I was brought up on these values and I won’t change now. So, if you trust me enough I would love to get someone to feed your children and watch over them for a little while. We need to talk about things, things they don’t need to know. Is this okay with you?”
“Yes, and thank you, Royal Alpha King,” Eder Wise’s mate agreed as she called her two children to her, children I knew who was adopted but they were great parents to children who have been through a lot of pain themselves.
I called one of the Omegas’ to the conference room, one I trusted with everything in me, one I have checked daily for spells or any negative thoughts. I knew she was happy to get paid and she loved sitting with everyone else. She finally had food to eat and was gaining a little bit of weight for once. I knew she would never sell me out or hurt me and it made me trust her more. Here’s hoping she loves kids.
I heard a knock on the door and realized I had zoned everyone out. “Enter,” I called out.
I smiled when she walked in the door and bowed. “You called me, Royal Alpha King?”
“Yes, Sandra. Do you like children?” I asked a smile on my face, hoping against all hope, she liked children and wouldn't mind.
It was as if she had won a million dollars, a big smile covered her face. “I love children. I used to be a first-grade teacher before, well, you know. Would you like me to keep an eyes on the kids?” She asked and held herself still as if she would run to the kids if she didn't.
“If you don’t mind. I sent food to the other conference room next door and I need someone to keep an eye on them. I don’t want them roaming the castle, so if you can keep them in the conference room I would appreciate it.”
Sandra nodded and bowed, her smile never faltering. I made sure to send some toys to the other room as I felt my mate spelling the door and walls. I added a protection spell on the kids, the Elders’ and their mates. I made sure to add surveillance cameras to the room, so their parents can keep an eye on their children. I didn’t want them to be afraid of someone mistreating them or hurting them, not after what they had been through.
After I heard the women sigh in relief, I walked over to the table and sat down, my mom standing at my side. “Ladies, this is Alpha Summer, better known as my mom. She can help you heal from the trauma of your ordeal with the mother fucker who took you. I’m going to need to ask some hard questions. I know it’s not ideal but I’m going to try Alvarez for his crimes against mates. I’m going to try his pack for their failure to report him and anything else they had a hand in, but I need you to be honest with me. I won’t judge you at all. I’m not that kind of person. I need word for word what happened, please. Can you trust me?” I told them quietly, not wanting to upset them further than they were. I watched as the women nodded their heads, their mates holding on to them, keeping them safe within their arms.
"Word for word, Sonny. That's a little harsh, but I know why. Please ease them into it, okay?" My sister asked me as I gave her a short nod.
“I guess I will go first then,” Elder Wise’s mate, Elly, said. “Please ask the questions and I will answer truthfully, my mate knows everything anyway.”
“Alright.” I thought about how I want to word the questions without hurting their hearts anymore than they were already. “How long were you held in his cells?” I finally asked, not knowing where to start my questioning.
“Um, six months or a little more,” she answered quietly.
“Mom, please help me out with the questioning. I think she would be more comfortable if a woman asked her these hard questions,” I basically begged my mom. I wasn’t sure what else to do. My heart hurt for these women. It was as if every bit of pain they were going through was affecting me the same way.
“Us women got this, Sonny. Why don’t you and Ares back off away from the table while we question them, okay?’ My mom suggested as I nodded my head, letting her know I heard her.
A/N: No cliffhanger this time. This is a little filler, but crap hits the fan really soon.
