FOREVER KNIGHTS: #6 Malevolent Attentions

Chapter Nonis Descending

Sebastian’s heart thudded in his ears as one of the Nonis turned to watch the family. Time to go inside. He let the rumble begin low in his chest before emanating in a growl that shook the field.

Momentarily frozen, the Bishop children stood like startled deer.

Oh? Not enough? Bast was amused by the challenge. Time to scare some children…

Crunching branches shattered the quiet. Without light it was impossible to see what rushed toward them. Its weight thudding the ground, vibrating across their strained nerves.

Fleeing up the steps Nora swept up Beth and shouted for Airon.

On her heels Marcus and William rushed the stairs. Grateful when it opened easily. Tripping over each other they poured in the front door.

Good lads. Bast violently skid gravel to ensure they were terrified. Pants emerging as foggy little clouds stirring the night air.

The Nonis peered from under the parked carriage watching him in shock.

Don’t worry, Little Demons, you’re next.

Slowly stalking the steps as the Bishops slammed the door, Bast roared. The click of the lock wasn’t enough to stop him. He crashed against it relentlessly until it began to crack for good measure.

They won’t be coming back out tonight. Ignoring the ache across his back he turned deliberately and gave his attention to the Cimmerii. Now for you, My Little Pets…

Standing frozen, the Nonis blinked huge orange eyes as he turned on them.

Comforted by the fact the family wouldn’t be leaving safety anytime soon, he was free to hunt the Nonis. Leisurely hopping off the steps he watched intrigued as they scattered. That’s fine. I have all night.

He predatorially noted the direction each fled. Not one of you little bastards will be making it home to daddy tonight.
