Chapter 52 Why Were You Still Alive
Sadie smiled, looked up and stared at him. "You have met me before, right?" Julian was stunned and then smiled. "Maybe you are overthinking. Life is different from TV shows. It is impossible that I have met you before."
After speaking, he tried to persuade her and said, "Six years ago, you were only twelve years old, and I was already twenty-two years old and I was studying abroad. It is impossible that we met each other before."
"What about earlier than six years ago?" Sadie laughed too but there was no emotion in her dark eyes.
"It is even more impossible. I have lived aboard for many years and stayed in our country for a short time." Julian calmly said.
If Cohen hadn't emphasized it many times, he really wanted to tell her all the truth.
He would tell her how did he take her away from the Chambers family, how did he teach her to eat, dress and hide her emotions and so on.
It had been nearly a month since he confirmed her identity. He thought he was careful but she still found something wrong. She indeed had learned a lot when stayed with him for several years. But she was to young to cleverly hide her curiousness.
"Thank you for the enthusiastic answer." Sadie turned and looked down at the water glass in her hand.
If she hadn't heard that he talked to Cohen about herself several times, she almost believed him. But it didn't matter. Though he didn't wiling to tell her, she still could know it.
Only she could use the fifty million, she would try her best to be an extravagant wife.
When thinking about this, she tiredly yawned and put down the water glass. "I am sleepy."
Julian raised his wrist and looked at the watch. He naturally pulled her up and opened the door of the rest room. "We won't go back tonight. I have a meeting in half an hour." Sadie shrugged her shoulders and bit her lips without saying anything.
"What I say will always count." Julian kissed her forehead then opened the door and left. The door was closed and it became silent. Sadie held her arms and slowly squatted down. She blankly looked at the hand-made and soft carpet, feeling hard to breathe.
She didn't understand why Paige would suddenly become indifferent towards her before. It was because of the orphanage. Though there was no news report now, many people went to watch it that day. And it must be a popular repost in the circle of friends.
She closed her eyes and sat down, leaning against the wall and doze.
She was groggy and had a chaotic dream.
A white yacht sailed smoothly on the sea and the flashing lights lightened the dark sea.
A wind had swept from a distance and a clear voice of a girl could be heard clearly. "Sadie, why are you still alive? Why don't you leave this world with your mom?"
The light suddenly dimmed and Sadie heard a sound. She felt a tingling pain on her face.
"No!" Sadie struggled to escape but she didn't know where to go and she just wanted to stop the pain on her face.
"You can't live the life you are now without this face. All you own now originally belongs to me!" The girl ferociously shouted.
And the picture changed. She was surrounded by the cold sea and drowning under the water. She waved her hands weakly and heard the explosions.
"Live, and someone will take you home one day."
Who said to her? Sadie reached out her hands again and blankly waved. She finally left the sea. It was on fire in front of her and her ears were hurt by the explosions. The white yacht was disintegrated and fell to the sea in pieces.
"Sadie!" Someone was calling her.
Sadie was startled and suddenly woke up. The sweat dripped down her cheek and slightly fell on her hands.
She looked up and saw Julian. She felt a little stunned.
"It's okay. Just a dream" Julian bent down to lift her out of the quilt. He felt sore for her and was also angry.
If she was angry, she would not throw things or scold like others but sleep and no one could wake her up.
If he didn't find that she almost suffocated herself, she might still struggle in that terrible dream.
"How long have I slept?" Sadie found her clothes were all sweaty and was a little annoyed. It was midnight and it was inconvenient for Ted to take clothes from the ZSB Garden.
"You have slept for several hours
and it hasn't dawned outside." Julian let her go and found she was sweaty in surprise. He frowned and went to open the closet and took a nightgown to her. "Take a shower and I will finish my work soon. Sadie shook her head, took nightgown and went to take a shower. The rest room was very big and half of it was his study and half was the bedroom. She walked to the bathroom door and saw the group photo on the bookshelf by accident. She frowned.
Julian lied to her as expected. It was the group photo of her with him
when she was a kid. Though a quick glance, she still could see it was
herself. She opened the door and et
went in. She turned on the light unconsciously walked to the washbasin, turned on the tap and carefully wiped off the makeup on her face with a towel. The scar was exposed. What did she steal from others?
Outside the door, Julian noticed her movement and remembered Khalid had the photo of the counterfeit. He opened the door, went out and asked him to resend it. When he finished and went back to the rest room. Sadie had finished the shower and was changing the bedding in her nightgown.Julian leaned against the door and looked up. He pretended to calmly say, "You look like my fiancée. So what?" Sadie paused slightly and quickly continued to change the sweaty sheet. "So you are the best one to pretend to be my fiancée." Julian threw his phone and went to take a shower. Sadie bent down to take his phone. She carefully looked at the photo, zooming in and out. Finally she stared at the girl's collarbone. She remembered that Julian used to touch her collarbone very hard. There was a bean-sized birthmark on the left collarbone of that girl. And it was a scar on her collarbone. A few hours ago, she thought she was very smart and found his secret. However, she was a stand-in. She exhaled, threw his phone and pulled the sheet in disappointment then went to bed tiredly. After a while, Julian finished the shower and went out. Sadie remembered that her clothes were still in the washing machine and got up to take the clothes then hung them on the
balcony.
The next morning, she woke up and washed up. After eating breakfast with Julian, she told Ted to send her back school. There were not many classes on Friday. She had lunch with Daisy in the dining hall and came back to dormitory. She found her bed had been moved again and was angry.
It must be Paige.
After a while, Paige and Riley came back together and were stunned to see her. But suddenly Paige approached her and pulled her clothes in excitement.☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐
