Chapter 76
"Mr. Woods arrived ten minutes ago."
Scarlett smiled, "He's showed his sincerity."
Katherine led her to walk to the private room. "Mr. Woods asked for three hundred million."
"He's greedy to have asked for such a number!"
Centel had been floated on the stock market five years ago, and today its market value was over two billion. But for five percent of the shares, Ethen asked for 300 million. It was unbelievable!
Scarlett withdrew her smiles, put on a cold face, and followed Katherine to the private room.
The two arrived at the door. Katherine pushed the door open. Immediately, Ethen stood up in the room,' Miss Suny!"
However, when he saw that it was Scarlett, he changed his face. "How come it is you?"
Scarlett chuckled, "Miss Suny is not available. I'm her new secretary."
Then she paused and smiled faintly at Ethen, "Mr. Woods, it's nice to meet you! I don't think I need to introduce myself."
The expression on Ethen's face was complicated.
When Scarlett and Raymond got married, the Woods talked a lot about them behind their backs. There was one time the Woods visited the Shaw Residence, and Ethen's wife and Jean were like an anomaly in stand-up comedy, they were rather mean towards Scarlett. Till today, Scarlett had vivid memories.
Scarlett remembered everything.
It was two years ago, and she remembered it clearly.
Before Ethen realized it, Scarlett got in a seat. Katherine handed her a drink.
A few seconds later, Ethen came to his senses. He looked at Scarlett with mixed feelings, "Ms. Reed, you've given us a big surprise."
Scarlett acknowledged graciously, "People change. By the way, I'd like to thank Mrs. Woods for the lessons she taught me. I couldn't have gotten this far without Mrs. Woods' encouragement. Please pass on my thanks to Mrs. Woods."
Ethen had been engaged in the business world for so many years, he surely knew the under meaning of Scarlett's words.
Immediately, he got tensed up. He wanted to leave, but it would be inappropriate. He was in a quandary.
He even felt regretful for having contacted Mornet Corporation. If he had known that Suny would not come, he would not have asked so many times to meet with her. When Scarlett had just got married to Raymond, Ethen's wife and her daughter had said a lot of bad things about Scarlett, although Ethen didn't say anything himself. Now it seemed the saying indeed made sense that what went around came around.
At the time, Scarlett took the menu and flipped through it leisurely. After a while, she ordered two dishes nonchalantly. Then she looked up across the table at Ethen, "Centers market cap today is probably between two and a half and three billion. Mr. Woods, you're asking for three hundred million for five percent of your stock. That's not business. What do you think, Mr. Woods?"
Scarlett was straightforward, not beating around the bush.
Although Ethen was a wily old fox in the business, he was now speechless. He wanted to leave right away. But the negotiation with Tsing Corporation had fallen through, and if he couldn't get the funds from Mornet Corporation, even if Centel got through this, they would have a tough time afterward.
Scarlett gave him a look, and then she looked over at Katherine. The secretary immediately put the acquisition agreement in front of Ethen.
"How about this, Mr. Woods? May I give you a proposal? We'll offer 2.5 billion to buy Centel. what do you think about that?"
"You are out of your mind! That's absolutely impossible!"
Scarlett shrugged her shoulders and said, "It seems we don't have to continue the conversation. In that case, I won't waste your time here. Let's save the lunch for next time!"
While saying so, she glanced at Katherine. Right away, the two of them got up to leave.
Before Scarlett reached the door, she paused and looked back at Ethen with a smile, "By the way, Mr. Woods, it seems that Miss Woods gets plenty of time lately. You'd better care more about Miss Woods, or if something happens to her, you may have to regret it."
After saying that, Scarlett headed out of the room.
Just as she stepped out of the room, she bumped into Raymond.
