Chapter 32
Tim ran by Bronx and the captain. As soon as they'd gotten to the location four males had split and gone separate directions. He didn't know who was going after the other three, but he was determined this one wasn't getting away. If he were allowed to carry his weapons in this realm, he would have already tossed a knife and taken out one of his legs. If he was involved in what happened to Fauna, he deserved that and more.
"Go left, Tim, we got the other alley." The captain called out.
Tim went around the corner and saw the man half a block ahead. He increased his stride and speed. He needed to reach him before he got to the lights. If the lights changed, he was going to be dodging cars. He de eked around two women standing on the sidewalk.
"Oh, is it a movie? Do you see a camera?"
He heard one of them say. An elderly man came out of a shop, and Tim jumped over a trash can to avoid colliding with him. The guy he was chasing tripped over a small dog being walked. When he didn't wipe out, Tim cursed. He was built for battle, not marathons. The image of Fauna lying there, her face covered in blisters, came to him and gave him enough motivation to pick up the pace again.
Up ahead, he saw the captain running toward them. He didn't see Bronx, but prayed he was in the alley up ahead. If the guy turned, he'd be trapped.
Tim jumped to the side when two kids came running out of a building. His heart skipped a few beats when he came so close to running into them.
The guy turned down the alley, and Tim, despite the strain of running this far, grinned. As he rounded the corner, he saw the Bronx running from the other end of the garbage-filled space. He could hear the captain behind him but didn't slow. The guy stopped, then turned and looked at the person rushing toward him. He resembled an animal caught in headlights.
Tim put the brakes on when he was a few feet from him. As he stopped, he grabbed the man by the neck and kept moving until his back was against the wall. He didn't know how tall this guy was, but right now, they were eye to eye. "Did you do it?" He growled out as he fought to catch his breath.
"Whoa." The captain was beside him now. "I know you're pissed because of your mate, but if he can't breathe, he can't talk." He touched his arm. "Put him down, Tim."
Bronx was on the other side of him now.
Tim opened his hand as he stepped back, and the guy slumped to the ground.
The captain touched his ear. "We got this one. Did we get the others?" He was just as winded as Tim was.
Tim hadn't bothered to put his earbud in or patch into the call, so he didn't know what was happening. He turned to see Bronx leaning on his knees, catching his breath. "Damn, he was fast." He said and then stood up.
Tim gave him a curious look.
Bronx cocked his head to the side and then nodded. Tim took that as they had caught the other three.
"Porting this one to the cells before Tim hangs him." The captain looked amused.

Tim scowled. He wouldn't hang him, and it wasn't funny. He backed up a few feet and then looked at the porter on his arm. He wanted to be there when they got the information, but he'd left Fauna when he'd told her that he would be there. The captain used a port box to send him to the cells. Tim honestly didn't know who had one anymore. It used to be the justice, but since the huntress had found her way to Alterealm, more of the royals did. "How was she doing?"
He looked at the captain. "She's had two treatments of the drops and her face is less blistered."
The captain nodded. "You go back there. I don't want any of those women to go anywhere without someone for now."
Tim cocked an eyebrow at him.
The captain grinned. "Ill send back up. I don't expect you to wrangle them all, at least not until Fauna is back on her feet."
Tim nodded his appreciation.
"Check in with Crissy when you get back, Bronx." The captain disappeared.

"Mate?"
Tim sighed. He hadn't told any of the guards because there hadn't been a spare moment since the caves. He shrugged. He probably wouldn't if there had been. "Fauna." Bronx grinned. "Yeah, I got that part when you used that guy to work on your bicep." He looked around the alley. "So, what does that mean for your position?"
Tim wiped the sweat off his forehead. "My position? Guarding Daxx?" He scoffed. "I'm not giving up my position."
"But..."
Tim held up his hand. "We haven't had time to discuss it at all." He rolled his neck from side to side. "I'll talk to you later. I have to get back. Message me when they find out what those guys were up to." Bronx nodded. "Will do and congratulations, Tim." He sighed. "Guards rarely find theirs."
Tim nodded. "I know. Go." He opened his porter and pushed the button that would take him back to the Geminis. He wanted to make sure Fauna tried to eat something after the next round of treatment.
