Fire On Fire

Chapter Chapter twenty six - Bound

"FALIA!" I screamed. Nonono...this can't be happening. This can't...

My heart burned as I held her limp body close to me. Tears streamed down my face and I screamed.

I looked up at the dark sky and saw the beast, still hovering. In the distance I saw a small figure, hands raised and chanting.

I cursed as rage filled my heart and stood up. I grabbed Falia's sword.

I wasn't going to let her death be for nothing. Fear coated my heart but I pushed forward. Breathing heavily, I charged closer to the beast.

It roared and I stopped, recognizing the sound. Ace...

"ACE !" I screamed out. It WAS him. A long jagged scar covered his left eye. Just like Ace's.

"Ace I know you're in there, it's me, it's Ava!"

But all he did was stare at me. He was in a trance. It was the Elf queen, she was behind this!

A soft chuckle resonated throughout the barren land and I tensed.

Her small frame appeared behind Ace and she smirked. She was no longer dressed regal. She wore a dark cloak and her hair was up.

She looked...different...

A certain shadow was cast on her eyes.

"You can try all you want dear, the spell is unbreakable" She smiled wickedly.

I looked towards Ace, even in this form, I saw a flash of pain in his eyes. He was in pain, I had to do something.

"LEAVE HIM!"

"TAKE ME INSTEAD!" I screamed out at her.

She chuckled and flashed me a smile.

"Oh honey, I will, you'll make for some great...research" her voice had an icy bite at the end when she said 'research'.

A chill ran down my spine and I shivered.

"But first...we need to take care of our little friend here"

She muttered something in a foreign language and Ace roared out in pain. My heart clenched and I pleaded with her.

"Please...you don't have to do this...just take me, just take me PLEASE !" I yelled out. She smirked and whispered again. Ace roared again as he went tumbling to the ground.

"NO!" I screamed out.

I ran towards the Bitch with my sword raised, and yelled.

She flicked her wrist and I flew across the field of tar and ash.

My back hit the boulder Fabia was behind and my eyes stung. Pain shot through me as I willed myself to get up.

I wiped the blood from the corner of my lip. I felt dizzy but I stood my ground.

"Oh my...You are a strong one aren't you...Sadly though..." She said pulling out a dagger

"I don't need you for this next part" She smirked, and then in a second I was on my knees with my hands bound behind my back.

I pulled at the chains but they wouldn't budge.

"Your pathetic powers won't work against it" She chuckled. She stepped closer to Ace and lifted up a dagger.

"ACEE!! RUNN!!" I screamed out so loud, my throat felt like it was about to snap.

The Queen turned to me and scowled, then, drove the dagger into Ace's side.

I screamed so loud that it didn't even sound like my own voice. A dark figure approached his limp body.

Another one of her minions.

I screamed again as the dark figure lifted up its claws and ripped through his chest.

Bound to the spot all I could do was watch. My eyes stung and my heart clenched.

"NOOOOO!" I screamed out again, pain tore through me. Grief passed through me in waves. I caught his eyes and mine were now blurry with tears.

I pulled at the chains and they hacked at my skin. I didn't care for the pain and I pulled harder as raw emotion took over me. I pulled and pulled, each time harder. The sky was thick with smoke as fires ravaged the already dead earth. It was like they were recreating what happened all those years ago.

I coughed and pulled again. I felt my skin break and I screamed out in pain. I have to keep pushing. I can't let him die, I can't let them hurt him.

I looked back towards him, my breathing ragged. He was laying on the ground, his hands, too , bound behind him. His eyes looked distant, as if he were in a trance.

The figure struck him again and he coughed up blood. I pulled harder until I heard bone cracking.

The tall figure loomed over him, as it lifted up its clawed hand to deliver a final blow.

Something surged through me and a fire burned every part of me. This time I released an ear deafening roar. I ripped the chains and barreled toward the figure. I caught its hand mid-air and twisted it. With a splatter of blood its arm detached.

It screeched in pain and clutched its shoulder. I growled and saw fear flash past the queens eyes for the first time.
