Fire On Fire

Chapter Chapter twenty seven - The final battle

The queen backed away slowly as I stalked toward her. I had only one thought running through my head. KILL HER.

I walked closer until her back hit a wall. She underestimated me. Now it was my turn to smirk.

"I could make you powerful!"

"I could make you stronger! We're not that different you and I!"

"SHUT UP!" I yelled, feeling the anger build up inside me. I slapped her and she fell to the ground.

"YOU HURT ACE!"

"I will NEVER forgive that"

I picked up the dagger she dropped, stained with Ace's blood, it just infuriated me more.

She lifted up her hand chanted something.

It instantly sent me tumbling. I tumbled into Ace's limp body. I sat up and touched his arm.

"Ace wake up, please" The rage subsided slightly and I felt fear and pain. I touched his torn chest and my hands stained with his blood. I lifted him up and held his face in my hands.

"I need you, I can't do this without you " I felt the energy drain from me. I couldn't go any further. I had just enough to break the chains and stop that thing.

I saw the Queen from the corner of my eye get up.

"Come on Ace, we're running out of time please, please" Hot tears streamed down my face as the queen approached us.

I reached for our bond, it was like searching a dark room.

I found something and grabbed onto it, pulling it toward me. The queen started chanting and I looked into Ace's eyes. If this was how it was to end...then I'm ready, I would rather die trying to protect him.

Instantly, Ace's eyes came back into focus and I sucked in a heavy breath. He blinked rapidly, and frowned up at me. He touched my tear-stained face and scowled.

I felt a bolt of power surge through me. He's your fuel. In an instant he was on his feat, his wings stretched out powerfully. My heart swelled as he smirked and offered me his hand. I took it gratefully.

He pulled me up with more force than anticipated and I bumped into him full force. He placed his hand on my waist to steady me. He gripped my hand and we turned to face the Elf queen. She was still chanting. What is she doing? Then I realized, the black tar started bubbling and hands with long claws started coming out of the little puddles.

"Ace" I turned to him.

"I see it, are you strong enough?" I nodded. When he came to, it was like I was supercharged.

We split up, I picked up the sword and swung it at the emerging figures.

Ace roared and I roared louder. It was like a wolf's howl, I couldn't help myself, every time he roared, I roared back.

I stole a glance at Ace and he was fighting the Elf queen-full force. They battled, a mixture of roaring flames and explosions of magic.

A black tar-covered hand gripped my leg. I pulled and sliced through it with the sword.

They kept coming and it started overwhelming me. I could no longer keep up with their pace and I started growing more and more tired.

I used my last bit of energy and sliced through the tar monster. I fell to the ground, exhausted.

Just as they started tackling me, they all turned into tar and fell to the ground. I stared and turned my head to Ace's direction.

He stood, heaving, with blood-stained hands. I looked to the ground and swallowed. There at his feet, lay a mess of meat.

The queen's body was unrecognizable.

I held back a gag and stood up, I took a few careful towards Ace.

He sensed me and whipped around, his eyes still filled with rage, then it was as if he'd just recognized me, he shook his head and stared at me with wide eyes.

I ran towards him and hugged him. I know I should've been afraid, I saw what he was capable of. It was her fault, she played a dangerous game, and with a powerful king nonetheless.
