Chapter Chapter thirty - Will you....?
For the next month, Ace was almost barely around. He was bombarded with duties and ceremonies for announcing him as the ruler of all of Ilteedias.
All the while I stayed at the Elven domain, and tried to busy myself. I got to know some of them and they were actually quite pleasant people to be around.
Of course there were some people against it though, saying "A demon can't rule the land of the elves" Blah blah bullshit. My man is more than capable.
Ace had to work extra hard to convince people and me? Well...lets just say that I was reaping the benefits of having a whole castle to myself with unlimited resources.
I bit into a big, red, juicy apple as I lounged on one of the chairs, reading a book.
It was some love story about a fairy and a mermaid. It was late and I stifled a yawn.
I closed the book and placed it on the dresser. I caught myself in the mirror, and I must say, for the first time in almost a whole month, I didn't look like a wet cat who got dragged through hell and back.
My hair was braided up and my skin felt smooth. My eyes seemed brighter. My dress was the fanciest, covered in lace and silk.
Ace might've been very busy and not around much but he made sure I got the best of the best.
I smiled to myself.
We had established a routine, he'd always come and see me after a long day, and he'd tell me how it went.
Ace was too good. My belly warmed at the thought of him and I felt a tiny twinge of sadness as I started missing him.
In times like these, I reached out for our bond. It always helped, because he was always there no matter what. I felt him reach back and I sighed.
Everything was perfect. Finally.
Just then the door to my room opened and I turned around to see Ace leaning casually on the door frame.
He smirked.
"Y'know...that dress looks awfully good on you my lady" He eyed me from head to toe and drank me in.
I blushed deeply.
"Oh yeah ? Well a very special someone picked it out for me"
"They must have some really good taste" He grinned, flashing me his fangs. He knew how much I liked them.
I laughed and walked up to him. He met me halfway and we shared a deep kiss. I felt his fangs graze over my lower lip and moaned.
"I missed you" I whispered.
"I missed you more baby" He rested his hands on my hips and I placed my hands in his hair, having to stand on my toes slightly to reach.
I rubbed his head and played with his hair.
"Mmm" he groaned.
"I could get used to this" he sighed deeply. I chuckled and pulled away swatting him over the head.
"Ow what the hell was that for" he feigned pain. I giggled.
"Don't get used to it" I warned, an walked over to my bed.
"I wanna ask how your day went but I'm guessing, same as always? Tiring and stressful?" he shuffled to where I was seated on my bed, plopped down and sighed.
"Actually things are starting to die down now, it's not as bad as it was those first few weeks."
"People are finally warming up to me" he sighed. I smiled brightly.
"I can finally spend some REAL time with my woman" he huffed, then grabbed me and started tickling me.
I giggled and howled in laughter as he continued to tickle my sides.
"Ace...Ace!" I breathed out between fits of laughter.
"Ace! I'm gonna" I laughed even louder.
"Ace..stop, I'm gonna pee my pants!" I shouted, then slapped my hand over my mouth. Oh God the whole castle must've heard that. Now it was his turn to laugh.
He howled in laughter and clutched his stomach. I scowled, grabbed a pillow and flung it at him.
He caught it mid-air then grew serious.
He gulped and grabbed my hands in his.
"Ava" he said softly.
"Yes Ace?" he swallowed hard again.
"Uh...I need to ask you something"
I lifted up my brows.
"Yes?"
"As you know now...I'm king again, ruling over all oF Ilteedias and..."
He gulped, I lifted my brows and waited for him to continue.
What was up? What was this man up to...
"Everybody knows...uh" he stuttered.
"Agh fuck it, Ava will you marry me ?"
My heart stopped and my throat went dry. My mouth hung open and I stared at him wide-eyed.
There was no second thought, Yes ! YES ! I kept repeating over and over in my head, but it was like my brain lost the connection to my mouth and all I could say was
"Ehuhh." Ace looked worried, and he held his breath.
After what seemed like forever of me trying to formulate the right words
"Y...yes !YES OFCOURSE!" I finally managed to say. Ace's eyes widened and I threw my arms around his neck and knocked him over.
"Yes" I whispered as I kissed him over and over again.
He pulled back and slipped a gold ring with a blood-red stone embedded in the middle onto my finger. The band had intricate details on it that looked like words.
I gasped and my mouth hung open.
Ace stifled a laugh as he wrapped his arms around my waist and kissed me.
I pulled back to stare into his eyes with wide eyes.
"This is gonna be epic"
The end.
...Or is it?
AUTHER'S NOTE.
Book TWO, Fire on Fire: A Phoenix rises
Hey! if you're reading this then you're most probably at the end of the book!
I hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
This story for me, felt like a rollercoaster of emotion.
I took all my ideas and threw it into the book!
It got really tough at times, long nights up and editing chapters but it was worth it !
I wanted to have something different, something unique, something that no one would ever dream to imagine ! and I'm really happy with the results !
Of course I've still got a very long way to go, there's always room for improvement!
I couldn't have written this book without all the love and support I got from my friends and family and all you guys !
Writing is tough, its not really as easy as it seems, and I have a newfound respect for writers.
It takes a lot of energy and brainpower to write and for that, I applaud all those writers out there who make it look so effortless, meanwhile, they're working their butts off!
I'll admit, for a while, I got demotivated
but thanks to all you lovely readers, I bounced back.
Now I look back and I'm proud of what I've accomplished.
Never give up on anything no matter what! it may seem like a challenge now but once you've done it, you'll look back and smile!
Just like Ava, if something feels right, don't give up !
