Chapter Chapter fourteen - Flames
"Ace you make me feel like no one has ever before. I feel like I've known you for years, decades. Like you're the only thing that's keeping me alive. And yeah that sounds creepy, but it's what I feel. I just want to be near you, to touch you, to feel you. You sparked a flame in me I don't know how to put out. I never believed in all that sappy shit, never, but..." I stopped. My breath hitched and my cheeks burned.
His eyes were focused on me. It was like there was nothing else that mattered. I felt longing through our connection, longing and understanding.
"Maybe this is going to sound crazy" I gulped.
"But I feel like this is fate..."
I can't believe I'm actually saying this.
"I can't even describe it..." I said, averting my eyes. Shit what did I do. I creeped him out didn't I? What the actual hell was I thinking !? FATE ?! why would someone like him like ME?
As all these thoughts ran through my head. I felt him tug me closer.
He crashed his lips on mine, setting them and every part of me on fire. My eyes slowly fluttered close after I got over the surprise.
I wrapped my arms around his neck and deepened the kiss. He understood what I meant, and if I was right, he felt it too.
He obliged and I could feel him smiling on my lips as he deepened the kiss too. His hands felt hot on my waist, burning through the thick material of my shirt.
I was no longer in control and my body did its own thing. I lifted up my leg and he slid his hand down to my thigh to hold it there.
It was like, among everything bad in my life, this was the one good thing I could have, the one good thing I could enjoy. The one thing I could take control of. So I did.
I teased him and nibbled on his lower lip. He moaned.
He bit back a little harder and I moaned digging my nails into his back.
I let my hands get lost in his thick silky hair as he let his tongue get lost in my mouth.
A giggle rippled through me as he poked my side, playfully tickling me. I pulled back and looked into his eyes as he chuckled. They were the same color of grey, but they sparkled now, with happiness. It was weird. This was weird.
"You're beautiful" he said softly. A big smile broke out on my face and my cheeks heated up as I short-circuited, having never being called that before.
"Ava...there're things about me..." he sighed, and I leaned closer.
"What things?" I whispered.
"Things I should've told you in the beginning" My heart started racing. Uh Oh. He sighed again, seeming visibly in distress. I placed my hand over his and looked into his eyes.
"The other race I didn't tell you about was the demon race" he finally said. My heart plummeted. Demons ?...demons...did that mean...?
"Yes, I am the last of my race" I clamped my mouth shut.
"I am- I was their king..." he trailed off.
"A long time ago, the Demons were blamed for the murder of the Elf queen Isla. The demons were all hunted down one by one.
As their king it was my job to protect them and I couldn't even do that. They captured me and made me watch as they burned down my entire kingdom to ash. To cover up any suspicion a war was started between the humans and the creatures. The fighting was so bad, the fact that the entire Demon race disappeared, slipped through the cracks. Before the war Demons were already regarded as scum and we cut ourselves off from the world to avoid any trouble. Any demon survivors were used for experiments. That's what I stole Ava, a map that would lead me to their location" he finished.
My heart clenched in pain as he started again.
"I had a family...I had a son...they murdered him..." My heart felt like it was about to be ripped to shreds as I felt every emotion he was feeling. A hot tear rolled down my face and a loud sob escaped my lips. His head snapped back to me and he put his hands on my face, wiping my tears.
"I...I'm s..so sorry...." I stuttered
"Shh...its okay, don't cry..." he looked at me with sadness in his eyes.
"That must've been....terrible" I managed to say, hiccuping. He closed his eyes and rested his head on mine.
"It was. That's why...Ava...I can't have you getting close to me...I don't know what I'd do if anything..." he shuddered. This man, who I barely even considered anything more than an acquaintance a few days ago made me feel like....like he was a part of me.
"When I first saw you that night looking at the stars...I had already known you were put in my path for a reason.
You were so full of wonder, the way you looked at the stars. Even if I didn't admit it, right there I knew you were meant to cross paths with me. When I left you in the castle every part of me wanted to run back and take you back here with me, to hold you and call you mine, but that was a selfish thought. It had been so many years since I had actually felt something and you were a breath of fresh air Ava. When I walked back here I heard you scream and I wanted to tear apart whoever or whatever caused it" I gasped a little.
"That's..."
"kinda hot..." I finished.
"Wait, how'd you hear me scream ?" I asked aloud, furrowing my brows as the gears in my head started turning, or tried to atles
