Finding Lilibeth

Chapter 16

When they pulled up at home Lilibeth turned her gaze again to the ground. She really didn't want to be here at all. She knew she would be locked in her room again for weeks at a time instead of being allowed out in the sun. Lilibeth got herself out of the car and walked slowly behind her father and Beau. Both men slowed there pace to try and walk next to Lilibeth but that just made her slow down her own pace. Beau wanted to say something but he didn't know what. He didn't think sorry about being an arsehole to you would fix anything at all. "Lilibeth, I'm really sorry for how I treated you. I want you to know I regret it and want to start again if you let me" Beau said as they got to the front door.

Lilibeth kept her eyes down and didn't react. She knew it was just a trick so they could punish her later. Darren, Beau and Lilibeth stopped at the door for a good 2 minutes waiting for Lilibeth to speak but she didn't. Darren opened the front door placing Lilibeth's bag on the ground next to the door and ushering everyone inside. He didn't know if they should have a family meeting to try and get Lilibeth to engage or leave it until she was ready.

Lilibeth saw the bag being placed on the floor and slowly went to the bag picking it up and placing over the shoulder which wasn't injured. She quietly made her way to the stairs and began to make her way to her room. Darren and Beau were so lost in thought that they didn't notice Lilibeth moving until she was almost to the top of the stairs. "Lilibeth are you tired?" Darren asked causing Lilibeth to freeze where she was. She didn't know how he was going to react to her being up there. Maybe she was meant to go to the basement or something. "If you want to get some rest head to your room and I'll wake you for lunch" Darren continued when he didn't get an answer from his daughter.

Lilibeth sighed in relief and then quickly made her way into the room closing the door behind her. She rested her back on the door and finally let out the breath she had been holding since yesterday when she had woken in the hospital bed with all her supposed family in the room with her.

The calm was interrupted by a quick knock on the door making Lilibeth jump. She didn't speak though and moved away from the door. Leo opened the door. "Hey you are back" Leo said and waited for a reaction but got nothing. "Well I just wanted to say welcome back and my room is next door if you need anything" Leo added before turning to leave. Zac also poked his head in before Leo closed the door. "Welcome home Lilibeth. Let me know if you would like anything ok?" Zac asked but was met with Lilibeth keeping quiet and looking at the ground. "Ok then well we will leave you to rest just call out if you want something" Zac added before walking out the door.

Lilibeth was worried people were going to keep coming in. She placed her bag on the bed and then looked around wondering where she could hide because she was exhausted and wanted to get some sleep. She didn't want to sleep on the bed though as everyone could see her there as soon as the door opened.

Lilibeth walked into the walk in closet with her pillow and a blanket after deciding that would be the best option as people would have to go through another door to find her and she hopefully would be awake by then. She placed the blanket and pillow down and the closed the door. She laid down and got comfortable finally allowing herself to fall asleep.

Dj walked in the front door surprising his family. He had come home early to meet his sister. He found his dad and his brothers conversing on the lounge. "What's going on in here?" Dj asked searching the room for his sister only to be disappointed she wasn't there. "Dj" Darren spoke up shocked to see his eldest son home. He wasn't suppose to be back for another week and then he was only staying for 2 weeks to get to know his sister.

"So where is my little sister?" Dj asked. "She is resting in her room. Sit down mate we have a lot to catch you up on" Darren told his son who nodded his head unsure of what was going to happen.

Darren and the boys told Dj everything including how they had treated Lilibeth. Dj was furious with them all. "How could you treat your own blood like that? No matter how she came about she is still our sister" Dj fumed out at his brothers. "And you dad. How could you not read her files? You put her at risk because why? You felt guilty or you just couldn't be bothered with her?" Dj asked. Darren didn't know how to respond to his son. He really didn't have an answer for him except that he hadn't bothered and hung his head in shame. "And she hasn't spoken to any one?" Dj asked when his father didn't respond. "No" Lex replied.

Dj stood up he was angry with his father and brothers. He wanted to go meet his sister so left the room muttering to himself about how pathetic they all were. Dj headed up to what he assumed would be his sister room and quietly knocked on the door. When he didn't get an answer he gently opened the door seeing no one there but a black bag on the bed. Dj frowned, this surely would be his sisters room seeing it was once a guest room right next to his brothers rooms.

Dj headed back downstairs to his father and brothers. "Where is Lilibeth's room?" Dj asked not hiding how annoyed he was with them all. "Next to Leo's" Darren replied. This made Dj frown more. "Well where is she? There was no one in her room" Dj stated. "She went to rest in her room" Darren replied getting worried that Lilibeth had taken off again. "She wasn't there and the bathroom door was open.

Darren took off up the stairs towards Lilibeth's room. She couldn't of run away again he thought to himself. Dj and the other boys were right behind there father. Darren opened the door and saw Lilibeth wasn't there and the bathroom door opened. He spotted the bag on the bed and didn't realise Lilibeth had carried it upstairs. "Lilibeth?" Darren questioned not knowing where she could of gone.

The boys looked around the room for a sign of there sister but there wasn't one. "We need to find her" Darren told his sons who immediately left the room to check the rest of the house. Dj looked at the bed and saw the pillow and blanket gone and then looked at the carpet, drag marks could be seen on the floor which lead to the closet. He went to the closet door and gently opened the door looking in. He saw a small little girl curled up in the corner of the closet sound asleep. He was angry that his father had caused his sister to not feel safe to sleep in her own bed.

Darren came running back in to tell Dj they hadn't found her when he saw Dj standing at the door of the closet. Darren walked over and spotted Lilibeth sleeping in the corner which broke his heart. His own daughter was so scared of them that she wouldn't sleep on her own bed. He sighed in relief too knowing she was still here.
