Find Beauty After Leaving Wrong Love novel

Chapter 5

Chapter 5

Seeing the death certificate snatched from me, I felt as if someone had grabbed my throat, leaving me breathless. When I saw Jeffrey preparing to tear it apart, I screamed at him with all my might.

“No, Jeffrey, you monster! Give it back to me!”

Jeffrey looked at me with irritation, then tore Emily’s death certificate in half in front of me. He threw it on the ground and crushed it under his foot.

“It’s just a piece of paper. You act like it’s some priceless treasure. Rose, if you have time to put on this act, why not go home and spend it with your child?”

I fell to my knees, retrieving the torn death certificate from under Jeffrey’s foot.

Seeing Emily’s name split apart, never to be whole again, I felt like a thousand knives stabbing my heart.

“Jeffrey, you will go to hell.”

More people gathered around, and Louise, noticing someone recording, immediately grabbed Jeffrey’s arm.

“Jeffrey, Rose must have come here to make a scene on purpose, trying to ruin our reputation.‘”

Hearing Louise’s words and glancing at the crowd, Jeffrey’s expression darkened.

“Rose, you’re so scheming. A person like you doesn’t deserve to be a mother. Emily would only be led astray by you. Since you don’t want to live a decent life, I’ll have my mom take Emily away.”

Jeffrey took out his phone and called his mother.

“Mom, come to the Oriaron city today and take Emily away. Rose is getting more and more out of hand, and I’m afraid she’ll ruin Emily.”

Jeffrey put the call on speaker, looking at me with a threatening gaze.

On the other end, his mother hesitated before speaking in a trembling voice.

“Son, are you crazy? Didn’t Emily die in an accident a few days ago? Where do you expect me to take her?”

Jeffrey stood frozen, his hand shaking as he held the phone.

“What did you say?”

“I thought you knew. But it’s no big deal; she was just a girl. She’s gone, so what? You have money now. If Rose refuses to have another child, find someone young and pretty who can give you a son.

“Isn’t that Louise back? You liked her, didn’t you? Have her give you a son.”

His mother’s words were as cold as ice in winter.

My Emily had called her “grandma” for six years, only to be dismissed as just a girl.

No wonder she never replied to my messages, enjoying her travels instead.

“That’s impossible. Emily was fine just a few days ago. How could she be dead? Rose, it must be you. You must have killed Emily to get back at me!”

Jeffrey finally reacted, grabbing my collar with rage–filled eyes.

I stared into his eyes and snorted coldly.

“Emily died because you sent her out to get milkshake for your precious Louise.”
