Fated to the Werewolf King

Chapter 32: Lily

Lily sat against the headboard, watching the sky light up. She had spent the last two days in bed, not eating. Not sleeping. She left on bad terms with Jayce and their wedding was just two weeks away, but she paused it. Her heart was still hurting, but her mind was trying to get her to understand. It was a war she had no strength in fighting in. She had been feeling sicker lately to. So much so that she spent most of last night throwing up. Was this her body telling her that she was weak? Mocking her for not being more of what her Mate would want as a woman? She remembered Chelsea, her top notch glamor from her hair to her heels. Was his past lovers the same way? Should she try harder? She glanced down at her oversized t-shirt and shorts. She hadn't changed in two days and she can smell it now.

She slowly rolled out of bed, the movement making her stomach flip and she charged the bathroom. After she emptied her stomach contents again, she hopped into the shower, hoping to wash away the dread she felt.

Mate.

"Please don't call me that.” Lily sniffled as she washed her hair, the hot water stinging her body. Please.

His Wolf whined softly. He had been knocking on the door of her mind since she ended the conference call, but she refused to open it. She switched on the bath and laid down.

"What?" She asked as she shut off the water and sat back. As she shut her eyes, his Wolf sat in the shadows of her mind, watching her.

He is a fool, but he is true to his word that he loves you.

"I know." She sniffled, "It hurts. Is it so damn hard to be faithful?" She asked him. His Wolf ears laid back. This was the first time he looked so vulnerable.

In all my years as the Wolf spirit, not once has any King ever relinquished their title. Until now. "Really?" She asked him. He walked toward her before plopping down on the ground in front of her. He licked her face, taking the tears away.

He is devoted to you. More than any King before him to their Luna.

She ran her fingers over his muzzle before resting her forehead against his, shutting her eyes.

"l guess I should finish planning the wedding, huh?" She said.

I should also start communicating. I dropped contact.

Lily let out a soft laugh, "Did you just put him on timeout?" She asked. His Wolf blew in her face. Lily opened her eyes, noticing Dr. Marshall sitting on her toilet. She gasped, covering her chest and crossing her legs.

"Dr. Marshall!" She screamed. The doctor passed her a towel.

"You were out for a few minutes, but you weren't asleep.” She told her. Lily got up, quickly wrapping the towel around herself.

"I was talking to his Wolf. How did you...?" She asked her as she drained the bath.

"Damion let me in. Your friend said you haven't been feeling well lately.” She told her as Lily went into her room.

"Jayce and I had a fight, that's all.” She told her. She went through her wardrobe, picking out a tank top and leggings. She looked back at Doctor Marshall, "Privacy please?" She asked her, but the therapist inclined her head at her. Lily sighed, dropping the towel and started to get dressed.

"Lily, when was the last time you had your period?” She asked her. Lily froze, looking over to her as she put her bra on.

"My period? What does that have to do with anything?” Lily asked after putting on her top and slipping on her leggings. Doctor Marshall walked over to her and before Lily could stop her, she rested a hand on her stomach and another on her forehead. Lily grew dizzy and sat on the edge of her bed.

"You've been ill for some time, yet you never thought about it." Doctor Marshall said before removing her hands. Lily felt another wave of nausea work its way through and she bolted to the bathroom again.

"I'm stressed. I had an interview that was live on TV," Lily washed out her mouth, "I got bit by Elias, I had a conference call with the other Alphas.” She looked back at Doctor Marshall, "I'm also in a rush in planning a wedding."

"Answer my question.” She said to her. Lily hesitated, biting her lip as tears welled up. She was so busy with everything, how could she not notice the one thing that came once a month?

"I don't know." Lily told her, her tears hot on her skin. Doctor Marshall sat her down on the bed, "I don't remember. So much has been going on. I lost track.” She told her. Doctor Marshall nodded before going to the doorway.

"Erica?" She called out. A rush of boots on tile ran toward the door from downstairs, "I need you to go to the pharmacy for me.” She told her.

"Is she okay?" Erica peeked around her.

"I need you to pick up a pregnancy test." She told her. Erica's eyes widened, "Do not speak about this to anyone.” The She-Wolf told her. Erica looked over to Lily and gave a firm nod.

"Got it!" She said before running off.

When Erica came back, Doctor Marshall passed the test over to Lily. She stared down at it, still doubting that she was, but even his Wolf was encouraging her to take it.

"Of course you would be happy about it." Lily grumbled when she sat alone in the bathroom. She sat the test on the bathroom counter, too scared to glimpse at it.

I'm the King,, why wouldn't I be happy that my Queen might be carrying my pup?

He purred to her and she couldn't stop a smile setting on her lips.

"I don't think I'm ready though. And if I am, how would I even break it to Jayce?" She buried her face in her hands.

The last King I spirited, his Luna made this grand announcement in front of the entire pack.

"Like Hell I'd do that." She said, staring at the test again. "What if..." His Wolf growled so loud, she almost fell into the bathtub. She stood up, stepping closer to the counter and gazed down at her results.

POSITIVE

"Holy shit." Lily said as she stared at it, her bathroom door flew open and Erica swarmed her. She looked down at the test next, her eyes wide.

"No fucking way." She turned to Lily, grabbing her hands, "Are you okay?" She asked her. Lily was still staring at the test, her head still trying to wrap around it when she heard his Wolf howl with joy. "Well well, congratulations.” Doctor Marshall said, a kind smile on her face. Lily finally pulled her eyes away and looked at Erica.

"I'm pregnant.” She said softly.

"You're pregnant.” Erica repeated. They held each other's gazes until Lily broke out into a smile.

"I'm pregnant!” She screamed and Erica hugged her tightly. Lily cried, but she was actually happy. "How are you going to tell him?" Erica asked her as they all moved into the bedroom again.

"I think I might surprise him after the wedding. It's also his birthday." Lily told her as Erica brushed her hair. Doctor Marshall was doing some physical exam on Lily while they talked. Checking her pulse, sensing the baby.

"Speaking of weddings, we should look into venues later today. Throw that title of yours around a bit." Erica wiggled her brows at her. Lily giggled. She definitely felt more at ease.

"Everything looks good so far.” She said.

"Doctor Marshall..." Lily started.

“Stephanie.” The doctor corrected her.

"Stephanie, what kind of doctor are you exactly?" She asked her.

"I'm a healer, which is why I do best in therapy. I will search for a doctor with the highest recommendation in the pack.” She told her, resting a hand on Lily's shoulder, "Congratulations again, Luna.” She smiled before leaving them. Lily let out a sigh as Erica finished brushing her hair. "Hey ladies,” Damion knocked on the door after Stephanie left, "Jayce is about to land.”

Lily stood nervously waiting for Jayce to get off the plane. Her stomach was rocking so hard, she made three trips to the restroom while waiting. She washed out her mouth numerous times, praying to God she didn't stink of vomit.

"Here." Erica said, passing her a mint and a water bottle. Lily took the mint immediately, her eyes back on the hallway where a crowd of people were walking through now. He would be towering over them all, yet she didn't see him. Did his plane not arrive yet after all?

"Lily?" A voice called her name from the crowd, one she had not heard in months. Her eyes fell on a tall man with brown hair, his slim body covered by a bulky winter jacket and jeans. Lily couldn't believe her eyes.

"Dad?" She asked as he walked up to her. He smiled at her, pulling off his glasses after they fogged up, showing the tears in his eyes.

"Hey Pumpkin.” He said to her. Her bottom lip quivered as she threw her arms around his neck. "Daddy." She cried softly. He wrapped his arms around her, patting her back.

"I missed you so much, Lily." He told her. She pulled back from his embrace.

"How are you here? Why are you here?" She asked him. He chuckled at her, stepping to the side. "You can thank him." He told her. Her eyes moved away from him to Jayce who was the last one out from the hall, his hair a mess, his cheeks slightly flushed. He was only wearing a button up and jeans when he spotted her. All the hurt she felt, the anger that fumed all vaporized as she stared at her Mate. Everyone around them faded away and she only saw him. He dropped his bag on the ground. She broke out into a sprint, charging him. He opened his arms, picking her up and clutched her to him. She wrapped her arms and legs around him, crying into his shoulder. One arm supported beneath her while the other was on the back of her head. She heard him inhaling her scent, shuddering from each inhale.

"You're home... You're finally home.” She cried. She heard a very soft sniffle come from him, surprising her. She pulled back, looking into his tearfilled eyes.

"I'm home." He said before kissing her. She melted.

"Dad, I can't believe you're here." Lily said as they got back home. Elias appeared from upstairs with Damion, letting out a shrill of excitement. He made it half way down the stairs before jumping off. Jayce caught him mid air, chuckling as his little brother started to choke him with a hug. Nathan stretched his back, looking around her home.

"I can't believe you live here." He said, looking skeptical. Erica rushed off to the kitchen with Damion following behind her. Lily took her father's jacket and hung it up.

"It's a long story.” She said, putting her hair behind her ear. Nathan looked at her, letting out a sigh and set his hands on her shoulders.

"We have all the time now." He told her. She smiled at him before leading him into the living room. Jayce followed in with Elias in his arms, taking a seat beside Lily. Elias glanced over to Lily, crawling out of Jayce's arms and sat in her lap.

"Wait a minute, I'm gone for a month and you switched sides on me?" Jayce asked him. Elias pouted, making Jayce sigh and put his hand over Elias’ face. Lily giggled before making eye contact with her dad. He was watching her with a smile on his face.

"You've grown up so much. I didn't realize how much until I was invited to your wedding.” He told her. Lily looked at Jayce.

"Isn't it tradition for the father to walk the bride down the aisle?" Jayce asked her.

"Well yes, but..." she looked between them, "You actually went to get him?" She asked him.

"He traveled to tell me what happened.” Nathan said, his smile dropping, "I knew something was up. It wasn't like you to push us away. You've always been so family oriented.” He lowered his gaze. "I'm okay. Really. Jayce has been a huge help." She looked over to him. He reached an arm around her, rubbing her arm.

"Though, I do have to admit that hearing about you getting married to a King wasn't exactly the kind of news I was expecting.” Nathan said, rubbing the back of his neck. Lily lowered her gaze, brushing her fingers through Elias* hair slowly. He purred against her chest, snuggling in more.

"I came here to escape Jasper, but he ended up following me anyways." Her eyes darkened at the bad memories. They seemed such a long time ago, yet it was just a couple months ago that she saw him.

"What happened with him? When I tried contacting him about where you were, his phone was shut off. It was like he went off the grid." Nathan looked over to her.

"He's..." she hesitated, looking down at Elias, seeing that his eyes were closed and his breathing was even.

"I took care of him." Jayce finished for her. She glanced up at him before getting to her feet. She cradled Elias in her arms before heading upstairs.

"Let me go lay him down.” She said to them before disappearing upstairs. After she lain Elias down in her old bed, she looked at his peaceful face, his black locks casting shadows over his forehead. She brushed them away, sniffling slightly.

"Are you okay?" Jayce spoke up from the doorway. She glanced back at him as he walked over. She returned her gaze back to Elias, putting the blanket up to his chest, making sure that Momo was tucked in with him.

"He's come a long way." She said to him. She peered down at the bite mark on her arm, "He looked so sad after he bit me, and scared.” She moved her gaze back to Elias again.

"Lily," he spoke her name softly, "can we talk?"
