Fated is overrated

Chapter 85

Lola POV

Now if I thought Damon's dragon was big and scary - this one takes the cake. The dragon is a mix of black and red and is easily 25 times the size of a wolf. This must be his father.

We were able to exploit Damon's weakness, but I doubt we can outsmart this monstrous dragon. Although I don't know dragon body language, I can tell this dragon is absolutely seething after it glanced between me and his unconscious son. Before I can tell Liberty to 'run forrest, run!', I am all of a sudden in excruciating pain. It's not just my head that feels like it's about to split or my bones that all feel like they are incinerating, my entire body and soul feel like they are on fire and yet being frozen at the same time.

The pain is so bad, I cannot focus on anything else, and I hunch over in agony. Which is bad timing, considering there is a seething dragon gunning for me right now.

'Lib what the f*ck is this? It's worse than a first shift?!' 'I don't know Lola, I am in equal pain' she grits out. 'Hide behind Damon, so he won't be able to burn you while you wait for the pain to subside. Just relax and let it happen', Liberty says in my mind, but her voice is really odd.

It must be from the pain. No time to dwell on it as I crawl over with my last strength, to hide behind Damon. I have never been this incapacitated and I hate being so vulnerable.

'Now, just let go and let it happen' Liberty states simply, but let what happen?! 'Let what happen Lib?' I ask her. Liberty replies 'I was about to ask you what you meant by that?!' huh?

Before I can ask her what the hell is going on, I hear 'what, no "welcome to the party"?". I am too stunned to reply, but I hear Liberty ask 'what?! Welcome to the party, who?". "

The name is Justice, believe it or not, lol. Now let me out to play!'. I am completely baffled by this turn of events. I now hear 2 voices in my mind, as if sharing your body and soul with 1 other isn't enough already. 'Wh- what are you?!' I finally manage to ask. 'You'll see girls. Let's show this dragon what we are made of!'. At least this internal conversation was good for distracting me from the excruciating pain, as I feel we have hit the pique and now the pain is slowly subsiding.

When I or should I say Justice? - look down, I see 2 massive white legs ending in huge talons, and a mostly white tail with a red dip dye at the end.

'You... You are a dragon?! And wow, you are white! I have never read of a white dragon?' I ask Justice. 'Yeah, I am special, as are you and Liberty.

I don't spray fire, I spray ice'. Wowwwwww. Sh*t just got real!!!! 'But ice is a normal dragon's weakness, right? So, you are like their kryptonite?'. 'It sure is' she replies smugly, with a mischievous hint in her voice. Alrighty then, lock and load!

I look up to the dragon of Damon's father and where it seemed to be seething earlier, it now seems to be pretty docile. But then again, I would be too if I was facing a massive dragon that carries an endless stream of my kryptonite. I smile at the thought. Wow, when did I get so lucky all of a sudden? 'Nothing to do with luck, you get what you deserve' Liberty chimes in before we fly off into the sky, right at the altitude of the other dragon, so we are face to face.

To my major surprise, the dragon jumps to the ground and shifts back. This naked man is now waving me over to come down, and as I look around I can see dumb & dumber have also gathered, as well as the King & Queen and a bunch of warriors. Yeah, if they think I am coming down just to be apprehended and meet my doom, they are sorely mistaken!

Lola POV

'Yeah, let's bounce' Justice chimes in as she flies off. 'We will have to go down soon though, a white dragon in the sky will stick out like a sore thumb, and we don't want to attract any more attention'.'

Yeah I got it, I will land in unclaimed lands shortly, just far enough so they won't be able to track us down. After a good while, Justice does exactly that and lands in a small clearing before she shifts back. 'That took a lot of energy, we need to find a place to rest' she mutters sleepily.

Although I agree, we are in the middle of nowhere and are unfamiliar with the territory. I have no clue where to find a good place to hide and, to top it off, I am in an even worse predicament than last time I was on the run. I have literally nothing on me. Last time I had a bag with clothes and supplies, now I don't even have clothes on my body, I am stark naked in the middle of no man's land. For someone who is a prude to begin with, I am feeling very vulnerable right now. I need to find clothes somewhere. I can't exactly walk onto human lands naked.

****

I have been walking for what feels like ages now, and I am beyond exhausted. The sun is setting already, and I need to find shelter fast.

I covered myself with some mud and leaves along the road somewhere in an attempt to hide my private parts, but as it is drying up the cover is failing.

Badly. Suddenly, I am on high alert again as I see a figure sitting a few yards away from me, with his back towards me. The guy just seems to be sitting there and doesn't seem to be an immediate threat, but he hasn't spotted me yet and I'd rather avoid fights right

now.

I am so exhausted I can barely walk. I keep my eyes plastered on the guy while I move towards the tree line for more cover. Suddenly, he sits up straight and whips his head around.

I guess I wasn't as careful as I thought I was. When I meet his eyes I recognize who it is - it's the rogue that helped me during my first 2 weeks on the run, Nick was it I think?
